I can finally draw an interesting tree thanks to this video. My first attempt looked cartoonish, but my next one was pretty good for a beginner. Thank you so much.
I have been spending months trying to paint trees in watercolor and it has been driving me crazy haha. I think these concepts will really help. THANK YOU!
I'm a tree lover and when i started learning watercolor painting, that's the first thing i wanted to do. After 5 years of self teaching. I continue to paint trees and little videos like this are very helpful. Thank you!😊
Looks great, I’ll definitely try the three leaf spread method. I live in the UK and this would work well for the big beeches, sycamores and probably oak trees, especially with autumn colours we have now.
Thank you from France ! It is the best video I ever seen about painting trees. Could you show us how to paint the multi-colored autumn hills, please ? Thank you so much. Anne-Marie
AWesome video, I do have a question, how is it I see you have a lot of watercolor piling up at the bottom when you paint each part of the tree, yet it doesn't dry for you with a hard edge? Whenever it's flowing down for me it would just dry like that and would never have a nice clean edge like you!
because I'm not showing all of the painting process here you can't see that I mop up those puddles, or drag them back into the tree (or tilt my paper so it flows around). If I want a hard edge, then yes I'll let them dry like that
I love this exercise fro making me think about how the tree would grow and stretch for light. I did end up with some Winny the Pooh-esque trees, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing XD

Great! Do you paint digitally?
No. Prefer to work with paper and pigment
