    I traded my lcp max in for this S&W bodyguard 2.0 and couldn't be happier. Took it to the range as soon as i got it. Yes, the mags are a pain to load the last 2 rounds. But what ive found especially with these smaller .380 mags is if you leave them loaded for awhile it tends to help. And of course with use it helps too. Definitely gotta have a mag loader ready for that last round in the new mag. But other than that i have zero issues out of the 2.0. Hands down better in every aspect than the lcp max i had and doesn't sound like a maraca when you shake it

    Finally got a 2.0. It was clever of Smith to make the mag coils smaller at the top so they mesh inside the larger coils at the bottom when fully loaded. I can get 12 rds in the mag with a maglula. Could try to get replacement springs as yours are not performing as intended.

  • @everready19373
    @everready19373 День назад +1

    I loaded 11 in the mag and then used a spacer (an old square nut on its edge) as the 12th round and then put the mag/nut into my vice and cranked it down until the vice jaw barely contacted the top of the mag. I used a small piece of duct tape the help hold the nut in place. I let it sit overnight and I could BARELY get the 12 round in the next day. I have the 12 round mag loaded and in the pistol now. Hopefully time will make it easier to load.

    The OEM 12 round that i got WITH the gun will take 12 rounds but will NOT lock in under a closed slide .....
    It WILL lock in under an open slide
    NOW ... i purchased 2 additional 12 round mags from GrabaGun and BOTH of those will take 12 rounds "easier" AND WILL lock into place under a closed slide. So with those 2 mags i can do 12+1
    The oem 12 round mag has been loaded and unloaded 6 times at the range so the spring has been compressed and de-compressed 6 times AND i store that mag with 12 rounds 24/7 in hopes to loosen up the spring, which so far has not helped.
    My 18 round ProMag for Canik had the same issue where 18 rounds would NOT lock into place under a closed slide, but after storing that mag with 18 rounds for a week, that loosened up the spring and now it will lock in under a closed slide.

    Yeah, I loaded the 12th round in by hand a few times, but after that I decided to just put 11rds in that mag until it cycles 20-30 times and loosens up. I DO remember Taran (of Taran Tactical) pointing out that if you smack the gun on it's base, it will usually loosen up and let you get an extra round in (which worked with his +2 baseplate for the G43), but I have no idea if it works with this gun. I shot two fully loaded 12rd mags with the +1, then did the rest of the day with 11rds in that mag and 10 in the 10rd mag.
    I LOVE the Bodyguard 2.0 and can't wait for a holster (I actually really like my LCP MAX ELITE, but it's always felt kinda rickety and janky). I haven't been this excited about a new gun since the P365 first came out.

      @@averagemarksman Yeah, the good news is, it's not like most will reload this kinda gun with rounds still in the magazine. And I remember either the 43 or 43X or maybe it was the 365 that some had an issue dropping mags (so some would heat up their grips then insert the mag wrapped in a layer of plastic wrap). I'm a huge fan of tiny guns, and this thing is just comical in how it looks like it got hit by a shrink ray. Like I want to prank someone by replacing their duty S&W M&P 2.0 with this or something. :)
      NOTE: from what I've heard from metallurgists, springs don't loosen up very much by sitting compressed as much as they do from cycling (that's why I'm just loading mine to 11 over and over until it loosens up). But I've also heard leaving them sitting compressed can loosen them a little.

    It’s also got a two-part feed ramp design (look at it inside) that causes failure to feed issues with flat nose profile bullets. In .380 you need hollow points or the Extreme Defender type fluted ammo to be effective and if those are going to jam it then it’s not a suitable gun for self defense period.
    The bullets get caught on the ridge where the two-part ramp comes together. What were they thinking?

    • @averagemarksman
      @averagemarksman  2 месяца назад +1

      Hand you shot defensive ammo through one? We shot several types of defensive ammo (hollow points) without issues. We haven’t had any malfunctions that were not magazine related.

      @@averagemarksman You guys have a video of it not going in to battery with JHP... Maybe is was the feed ramp issue. I have shot FMJ not a problem, Sig V Crown JHP and Underwood Extreme Defense feed issues. I think the Critical Defense will run good since they are coned bullets. My magazines won't fully load either.
      1.) The two-part feed ramp issue will polishing fix it? I dont know. .380 ammo isn't cheap and im not buying 1,000 rounds to find out. 2.) Sometimes the magazines also have issues not loading past 3 rounds because if you look at the side of the magazine there are two "windows" cut where the magazine locks in to the grip. The magazine follower has a fang/tooth that hangs down in the corner to stabalize it as it slides up and down in the magazine, however, if it cants while you are loading ammo the fang might pop out the window and get stuck. People have been taking them apart and removing the tooth/fang, but why would they make it like that? Load yours and look at that window as the follower goes down you will see the tooth. 3.) the recoil spring is an inner/outer two spring design and sometimes it wont compress to allow re-assembly. Look at the front end of the outer spring and you can see the cut edge of the spring will ride up along the side surface of the recoil spring rod and that's supposed to be what is causing it.
      I was all excited about the rave reviews it and bought one, but I wont want it and will sell it if it wont feed relaibly. I want it for defense and if it won't function relaibly it can be any caliber and it's not worth your life. I have had an LCP Max for a few years now, never a malfunction, shoots everything. It's a close up self defense gun I'm not caring about felt recoil, etc, I just need it to shoot reliably from 3-7 feet away.
      I was in law enforcement and went from a nice .357 S&W 686 revolver then to a S&W 9mm auto and that S&W auto was horrible too. Always jammed and I couldnt depend on it. Once we went to Glock 17 and 19 the problems were over and I could could have carried that glock for another 3 careers and been happy. I would carry the glock .380 but it's larger and lesss capacity than the LCP Max. This Bodyguard 2.0 just bringing back bad memories. I can probably sell it for what I paid since they are sold out at a lot of places.

    I recently bought one of these guns with a thumb safety. I love S&W. I own 2 other guns of theirs. BUT, this gun should never have left the factory. The thumb safety is awful. Impossible to operate with the thumb. And I do mean impossible. I've experienced the same problems with the mags that you talk about in this video. When loaded with 12 forced bullets, it's almost impossible for me at my age to slam it into the mag well into a locking position. Took it to the range and it tuckered me out having to reload this thing. I'm 71 and it's very, very difficult to push 12 rounds into the larger mag - even when I use an Uplula for help. I paid a lot of money for this gun ($400) and I sure expected better. I called S&W and all they said was that they would send me another mag. OK, another defective mag is not something I need. How about you fix the problem and then send the solution to those who registered their guns with you (as I did). Talked to somebody with the same gun and he bought it new - and the front sights were not centered. He had to take a punch to them and pound them right until centered. The gun I bought must have been a second iteration because the sights were properly line up. I (we) deserve better from such a good company.

    Update... some 800 rounds through my new S&W Bodyguard 2.0 and with even leaving the 12-round mag loaded all the time, loading 11-rounds is very difficult it's STILL impossible to load the 12-round.
    It's almost like the compressed mag spring isn't allowing enough room for the 12'th round.
    So... I call S&W customer service and explain the situation and how many other owners of this great little gun are also having issues loading that 12'th round.
    The rep says to me ... "this is the first time hearing about this" ... I'm thinking that's doubtful.
    However the rep was very interested to help and wanted to address the situation so, he's sending me out another 12-round mag and with a prepaid returning shipping label I'll be returning the 12-round mag that cam with my 2.0
    My only other issue (which I'll fix) it the front sight is off to the right ... gun is shooting to the left.
    Also... I'm not digging the rear sight window, the U is simply too wide... to quickly lock in the center of the rear sight I put a small white dot of paint.
    All in all I'm glad I purchased this little 2.0 perfect conceal carry size (on sale) for when I don't want to carry my larger 9mm's.

I did the same with my Bodyguard and shot 50 rounds at my LGR and I have No Issues so far with the first 200 rounds! This gun is everythingI want for a self defense gun and it is now my EDC!

    Just got my 2.0 ... the #11 round is ridiculous to get in and with just 11 rounds the mag swells and sticks in the handle of the gun... almost like that mag was never really designed for 12 rounds. For the price of this gun this BS shouldn't be happening.

    New guns, new magazines need to break in . My shield plus was the same way. After cleaning it, lubing it, then firing a box of ammo through it, everything works perfect.

    I definitely respect S&W......but since this pistol is a new platform for them and as Honest Outlaw quoted "tiny little guns, have tiny little problems". I'll just wait till the guys who are sponsored with free ammo get 1000 or so rounds down range before I decide on a 'winner".

    As a man, this video makes me feel embarrassed. Round 12 was a little difficult to load for my 9 year old niece. Took her 2 try's. Dude needs to stop being a crybaby and crush a couple of beer cans with his bare hands. For training I would recommend buying a six pack of Snapple and twisting off the lids. If you have never changed a flat tire or blown up a balloon this firearm may not be for you. If you can stomach loading each of the magazines that come with this pistol one round short and waiting 12 hours, I suspect that you will find this firearm an excellent addition to your collection. I am truly surprised that this poster didn't complain that when he fired the weapon that it smelled too much like gunpowder.

    10 + 1 and 12 +1 are nothing more than a sales gimmick, shame on them. Chamber the 12th round with the slide stop engaged and leave 11 in the magazine. I do the same routine with my Shield Plus and 30 Super Carry. If you can't defend yourself with 12 shots, you weren't going to survive anyway.

      I shot 60 rounds for the Bodyguard 2.0; my only failure was a failure to feed in the first shot. As you said, 12+1 couldn't be done, and I had to jam my magazine inside, as seen at 3:32, so I started loading my Bodyguard with 11+1. Shame.
      After 11 rounds in the chamber for over a week, I hope the magazine and gun will be “broken into” and start working as advertised and load it as 12+1
