A lot of fans didn't like the song when they first heard it - lots of autotune and effects on the vocals were upsetting them (Su-metal doesn't need any of that) and some thought the song could and would not be played live because of that. They were happily proved very wrong and Su kills it live without any of that trickery on her vocals and with the Kami Band's live instrumentals the song hits hard. Also Su said this in an interview: "That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that. But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind." As always BABYMETAL proved they are better live than in the studio, those are the videos you need to look for if you are doing BABYMETAL reactions.

I'm not sure why someone would recommend this as a very first reaction instead of a live video. Babymetal's music in general is wildly varied, but this is even more of a outlier and unique for them. I will always recommend Monochrome live at PIA arena as a first reaction as it always goes down well. A great melodic metalcore song and a great performance of it. I would avoid early kawaii stuff and MVs until you have more context about what they do and are capable of.
@@marineveteran92 I understand in normal contexts, but Babymetal are primarily a live act. They are renown for it, it's their reason for existing. They did 94 gigs in 2023 alone. They cracked the western market in 2014 at the Sonisphere festival. MVs are fine if you already know who they are, but you don't get the full picture with them. They are almost like tasters of the live performances. I'm sure you will see for yourself what I mean if you see Monochrome live.
@@marineveteran92Babymetal is a live band 1st and foremost and the music actually sounds better. Many Japanese bands have heavy production, especially in compressing music. In a live setting the full sound comes out in its wide and deep glory. Added to the Japanese insistence on being perfect you have songs played at an incredibly high level live. Not just with Babymetal, same goes for Nemophila, Band Maid and Lovebites the bands that get the most reactions.
Hey, great reaction! I have to say, this song in particular took us kitsune by surprise - who knew Su had this skill set lol. If you're looking for other music to react to, as a military vet you should definitely check out Sabaton. They're a Swedish power metal band that concentrates on historic battles and the heroes that fought them. Not just great songs though - they've released some MVs that are literally cinematic pieces. If you're into cinematography you should start with Christmas Truce. They had access to a full production studio that major motion pictures used, constructing a full Great War trench system worthy of a major motion picture. Cheers!
There are hundreds of reactions to this song on youtube and many of those reactions are made by professional musicians/vocalists. And none of them (as far as I've seen) noticed the rhytm being "off". But sure your buddy plays bass so I guess you are the only person who can notice that:D. My guess is that you are either just hearing things or you have something wrong with your settings or something that makes you hear it that way.
It's not the settings, that's all from YT itself. It's what I noticed. It's not what everyone else is going to notice. Yes, a buddy of mine plays bass and another friend of mine, who is a moderator for me on Twitch, who actually did my intro, asked for feedback on one of his songs and I told him that the beat was off by at least a half second compared to the lyrics. Again, this was a RECOMMENDED song for me to REACT to. If you didn't like the reaction, cool. If you liked it, cool. Either way, it's my opinion on the song and no one can change my opinion. It's the same with everyone else's tastes in music and opinions. I'm not going to try to change them. But I can mention something on it. Much like I mentioned on here.

I am sure this massively popular and talented Babymetal team are just releasing songs with the rhythm off. Damn dude this band is absolutely loved by metal bands. Dream fucking Theater was blown away by Tales of Destinies but hey my buddy and me play bass and it sounds off.
If I can offer some advice. If you don't like the song I'd say just don't put the video out. Unless you want to make content for haters. Apart from that just say you didn't like it. Nobody wants to hear reasons that just comes across super insulting. I don't like Ren. I listen to all kinds of music too. I can play some guitar. Do you want to hear me tell you why Ren isn't good? I highly doubt it. It's just my opinion. I guarantee you it would just piss you off and you'd be right. Rob Zombie and Cory Tayler love Babymetal. Does that mean they're great? Of course not. It's all opinion.
The haters can hate all day long, doesn't affect me at all, plus if they comment, more for the algorithm. People can have their opinion on how I interpret a song's lyrics, rhythm, and the overall flow all day long. Still won't affect me. This was a requested one from when I reacted to "Bekauf". If anything, it helps me learn more on the rhythm on certain songs by Babymetal.

I'm not sure why someone would recommend this as a very first reaction instead of a live video. Babymetal's music in general is wildly varied, but this is even more of a outlier and unique for them. I've always disliked the live performances unless I'm there in attendance. But will take a look at this one.

I didn't really like this song but when I saw their live performance, I found their live performance to be much better.
