  • This tutorial video will explain what Flight Modes and Global Variables are and how we can use them in out fixed wing RC aircraft.

Thanks Bill! This video (and the similar 1 by John at RC Video Reviews) has really helped to show this Old Fart how far down his intellect has deteriorated. 😜😆
For setting up a series of switches to give us a usable sequence of mode switching for our new Eachine Flying Fish/Radiolink Byme-A Stab units we had thought of using the (new to us) info that at the "Special Functions" page you can create a priority tree starting from the highest number set function back towards the first. So for instance, at function x (and environs as needed) you set a spring loaded momentary switch to over ride the ch5 and ch7 outputs to give you full manual when held (for us beginners - maybe the other way around for experienced fliers ;-)) and reverting to the hover mode when released. (Straight up is the best way out of trouble with this little ripper!) Then on down the tree to stabilized/self-levelling with angle limits (angle?), self-levelling with no angle limits (horizon?) to wind correction only (acro?).
The Flight Mode Buttons would, of course, make more sense but it is much easier to release or flip switches when flying than to release the sticks and feel for those buttons! 🤔
No idea yet if it is completely viable. 😀

Anything is possible but we do not want to over complicate things but it is interesting programming the radio to do this type of thing. I spend more time programming my radios than flying with them!

Thanks for the explanation, but I noticed one inaccuracy.
If you want to set up global variable input weight or expo values, looks like it is only possible in the companion. If you try to do it on the radio, it will not switch to global variables and only allow you to select from set values +/- 100. Strongly, in the vide you avoid showing this exact part.
Is there a way to override it inside the radio and actually set a global variable to the expo value? This is an important function that I actually need badly.

UPDATE! The trick is to hold the wheel. Then it will switch to GV, displaying the GV name or minus GV name.

      @@T16R0N Yes that is correct:
Whatever you can program in Companion you can program on your radio itself. You need to goto Flight Modes, click on FM0, goto G1 etc move to last column and enter your value for this Global Variable. Move to G2 and add your value and so on.
Goto Mixes and the mix you want to use the Global Variable. Click on the weight then long click and select the G you require ie G1.
