With some trial and error, I've been able to make my own quads from scratch. So far, this is the one thing that I needed a real step-by-step lesson on how to setup my 6 flight modes on 2 switches. Took me at least 30 minutes to watch this video almost going exactly by your steps. I watched it once casually but all the items involved are too intricate to get this way. Thanks for the great videos! Would have taken me days on my own.
Lee thanks for coming to my aid as usual. I bought an X-Vert and needed 3 flight modes but only having expo on the acro mode. Nailed it thanks to you buddy 👻
Thanks for all of the videos! Can you tell me Safe mode, like on an apprentice, is programmed through the controller or the receiver? I've got a Carbon Cub with Safe, Intermediate, and Expert mode. I've watched your videos and created the 3 Modes but how to program them I haven't seen yet. Thank you!
Safe mode is normally seiected via a specific range on a specific channel on the reciever. No idea which though. Maybe a look in the forums would help. Best of luck
hello, huge fan and great videos....got a question for you....How can you put in trims on both AIL if you have them wired with a Y cable on one channel, like camber and stuff?
Lee, I just got a new Taranis so your videos are very helpful. However, I seem to have missed where I match my transmitter flight modes to match up with the flight modes in mission planner. What I mean is how do I guarantee that the six flight modes in mission planner totally match my switch positions of the transmitter.....hope this makes sense. Which of your vids do I need to watch again to find this? Thank you.
Thank you. Just watched your 13th vid and understand how to do it if I decide to. I think for right now I will just use two three way switches to accomplish the same thing......now just to figure out how to do that too.
+Hitman5363 Texas see the videos on logical switche. Use the 6 logical switches from two physical switches, then use those logical switches to set the channel value of the channel use for modes. Best of luck!
Which video of your 12 videos is the logical switches covered in? Coming from standard radios I must say the Taranis is a bit intimidating to say the least. Really trying to wrap my head around it but this old dog is having a tough time. Thank you for the help!
+Rhyando Anggoro Adi they are completely different. In CF they tell the board how to fly, in Opentx they are a way to store settings that can be activated at once..
Painless360 thanks for the reply.. I still have a confussion when both aux of cleanflight and the tx controller are activated, lets say horizon mode in cleanflight and attitude mode on the transmitter are both "ON". Which one will be chosen by the quadcopter ?
Thanks for the easy to follow description who to use the flight modes. One question: I'm using the combination of 2 three position switches for my flight mode selection to have 9 different modes. How to set this up?
Well Painless, (Am I allowed to use this name when addressing you in an email??? I don't want to appear ill mannered,or insulting.) This video has raised my curiosity about Stabilization, and GPS Return to Home. I am not into quadcopters, but can see some potential merit for setting those systems up if I temporarily lose sight of a glider/sailplane. MY QUESTION What is or are your recommendations for stabilizer and GPS Return to Home eqipment wich is compatible with FrSky and Taranis Plus(LBT). At this stage I just want to browse and explore the options and perhaps links to a couple of forums, and of course potential costs. Go With the Flow Bruce
At the moment we are big fans of iNav, it works on multirotors and fixed wing too. See our series on it where we cover what you need and how to set it up.. Best of luck!
have watched your video,s and find them a great help but have you done a video to show how to set up a taranis plus to have collective on a 120 swash plate heli with three servo,s.
Check out the series - the earlier videos show the radio a lot more and all of the screens in companion are identical functionally to the ones on the radio.
Thank you for all these wonderful tutorials, I have learned so much. I am now flying my six servo Phoenix and motor on seven separate channels. I have managed most mixes under your great videos, and thank you for that. BUT I have not yet discovered a simple way to set up reflex, camber, and thermal, on a three way switch (say SB for example). I am thinking that I should be able to set this up on one aileron, using GV1 reflex, GV2 camber, and GV3 thermal, as Flight modes 1, 2, 3. Having done that, I could then "copy" to each of the other servo and flap CH mixes. Am I heading the right direction??? Do you already have a video that describes such a set up? This Video 20 is not really going into enough detail for me. Appologies for being so THICK! Bruce
I have a question. Is there a way to have a flight mode for more then one switch? I did your example using Open TX on one switch to show throttle active and engine off on the screen as you showed in your example. All works fine. Now I add another switch to show flaps up, flaps 30 and flaps 40 but when I move the switch only the modes from the first switch are displayed. Nothing happens when I move the second switch to display the mode. Can this be done?
+Axel Thieffry You can do them in any part of the mix, a lot of it is personal preference but setting them up in the output mixes makes things like variable rates at the lick of a switch a piece of cake..
Hello I have recently upgraded the firmware on my taranis. After the upgrade I was unable to find the ppm source while editing in my mix. Can you advise? I use the fatshark headtracker that uses ppm
etab83 There is a video showing head tracker setup with the Taranis already on the channel that will help - it is in the Taranis playlist... It should give you a few ideas for your setup Best of luck.
I'm using iNav on a fixed wing. If have flight modes for Angle, Horizon and Bypass Mode on one switch. The flight modes display properly. Now I have a separate switch to activate a mission. Although I have created a flight mode for automode, it will keep displaying only the basic flight modes, ie. Angle or Horizon. How can I have an override to display automode?
@@Painless360 It is a display issue only, not one of function. All my flight modes work 100%, but it is just that they don't display properly on my Trananis 9x Plus. I have Horiz, Angle and Normal Mode on switch SC, and AutoMode on switch SE. When I'm in Angle or Horizon mode and switch to AutoMode, the display will continue to show either Angle or Horizon mode, never AutoMode. I'm not sure there is a solution to this, but I discovered is has something to do with the order of the flight mode, i.e. 1 through 8. If I make AutoMode my flight mode1, the display will show correctly. But if AutoMode is flight mode 6, and Angle is 1 and Horizon 2, it will not display the AutoMode but will stay on either Angle or Horizon . So the lower flight mode numbers have priority over the higher flight mode numbers. Its a bit strange, but that is how it seems to work. Anyway, it is not a big issue as I also play the audio tracks when selecting different flight modes.
Hi, I'm trying to set up my Quanum Outlaw 270 using Openpilot GCS. When the program wants to look at my Taranis transmitter configuration, it's doing the sticks OK, but It seem to have problems to see any swith. I'm not able to assign a flight mode switch. I hope you can help. Thank you so much.
Not sure what you're describing - we have lots of videos in the 'Introduction to Taranis' and the 'OpenTX mix school' too.. Sounds like you need to watch one of the earlier videos in this series where we set up OpenTX for a multirotors.. Best of luck!
First great video!! OK On flight mode 2 and 3 I have switch SF(back) engine off, SF(forward) Clear Prop, same as what I have for voice on special functions for this switch. Using Open TX SIM this shows on the splash screen when the switch is moved as in your video. Now if I add in mode 4,5 and 6 switch SB (back) flaps up, (middle) flaps 30 (forward) flaps 40 these do not display on the screen when the switch is moved. Only what is on the SF switch is displayed. What I'm asking can any switch movement be displayed or only one? If so how?
Lee, absolutely superb videos on the Taranis, well structured, clear and relevant. Very well done and many many thanks!!

Another great video. Many thanks for the time, effort and expertise you have put into this channel and made available to all.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.....Best explanation of Global Variables I have heard so far.
Wow, great tutorial! You, sir, are an excellent teacher!

You can actually use the potentiometer to dial in the value of the Global Variable to a more precise value.
Great serie again, these are the best tutorials I've seen. Many thanks, excellent videos !!
I'm waiting impatiently for #12
