Hi Lee. I like the way you keep your tutorials simple and easy to follow. I'm really looking forward to your up and coming videos of the Taranis. Keep up the great work buddy.
You really have to thank Frsky (and OpenTX) for what they are doing. I've had the "pleasure" to use radios of the established brands (Graupner HOTT and some Spektrum). As a programmer and hobby electronics engineer I always felt like their products were either designed by guys with long grey beards, who didn't want to change anything from the "old ways", or artificially crippled and overpriced. All of the radios already had a capable microcontroller inside and a large dotmatrix display, so there was absolutely no reason for the limitations the had, except maybe for the lack of competition.
I found that I had to leave the D16 setting to bind the X4R. But apart from that thanks for all your excellent videos! You are my number 1 go-to guy for all things 3 axis and drones. Thanks
Thank you so much Lee :) That is actually less complicated than everything i've heard from most of people. But they maybe used the old version of the software at this time. Painless360 I have a Spektrum DX6 G2 2014 AirRadio, The new Airwave on this is like the DX9 and allows assigning the 4 axis inputs and any switch to any output channels, including mapping one input to multiple channels or mapping switches to any channel can be done from the Channel Assign menu in the System settings. The Version 2 firmware needs to be downloaded on the NIB Taranis I bought three years ago. The wizard is great. I may actually use the Taranis I bought, attempted to program, but decided I wanted to fly, not learn to program my transmitter. I have subscribed and will review how to update the firmware. Bill
FYI everybody. using a V8R4-II receiver, you need to install a bind plug connected to signal pins on receiver between channels 1 & 2. for the bind to work.
I have a question. I do not bind my Taranis with the Rx yet. I notice when I move throttle the throttle scale on the 'Mixer' page is not moving in the same degree as the 'Input' page. So I tried changing the source of 'Throttle Mixer' to be 'Throttle stick' in stead of 'Throttle Input'. Then the scale move in the exactly same degree. My question is 'Is it OK to choose 'Stick' as the source for the 'Mixer'?
I have a brand new Taranis Plus and X8R receiver, I cannot get it to bind at all.... I sent the rx back and had it replaced. still doesnt work... I have tried all the modes and it still will not work... I have the latest firmware on it and it still doesnt. When binding, the 2 LEDs stay solid. when im not binding its a slow red flash... Can you help me?... I havent used the dang thing yet...
Odd, make sure then that D16 is selected, the radio is in bind mode and bleeping, hold the FS button on the Rx and apply power. Nothing will beep to let you know it's working though.. Unplug the Rx and take the radio out of bind mode and re-plus the Rx into power - it should green LED in a second.. Is this the process you are following?
Sounds like something is broken. The antenna connection at the top of the main circuit board can come loose in transit. Worth a check if you don't want to go back to the vendor for support.. Best of luck.
John Bailey Wow! Great timing. I've just figured this all out for the Pixhawk series on the channel. A new Taranis video for the 6 position switch (and it's use with the modes in Mission Planner) is uploading as I type. It includes the magic percentage channel numbers to drop the PWM value of the mode channel into the middle of each of the six modes. You can also use these same values with a logical switch setup too. If you watch that video it will give you the answer! ;)
Hi what do you think about the Radiolink at10 ii. I'm looking at it and it's very cheap and reaches a control distance of 4km so I was wondering which you would recommend. Taranis x9d or radiolink at10 ii. Thank you!!
Please help! When I select 'Trim idle only' under model setup it works on the Elevator trim instead of throttle trim. How do I change it to the throttle trim? Thanks
Hi there Painless,I am considering the frsky x9d for my new radio and I am wondering if the frsky system will work with 20cc gas engine fixed wing aircraft, what would be ur thoughts on that matter, thanks
I know a few pilots who have used FrSky with Gas/Glow and works well. So long as the receiver is mounted with care and has a steady supply voltage it should be fine.. Best of luck!
once i finish flashing my F/W and try to open my units . it gave me throttler warning.throttle not idle. press any key to skip. i did that and i set up the model with the description you show in the video and i can not see my throttle moving or any other ch on channels monitor. what do i did wrong? thc for help
Hello, I have just started flying fixed wing again with my Taranis X9D Plus, downloaded the latest version of open TX 2.3. Updated the firmware on TX, with the Non EU version, the receiver has been flashed with the Non EU version firmware. The receiver binds ok with the TX, but nothing happens when any of the sticks or switches try to move the servos. Stupidly, I forgot to backup the setting on my TX. What could be causing this problem. I have been at this for 2 days now and I cant get the servos to work. I really would appreciate your help if you can.
@@Painless360 The RX has a solid green light on it. I followed your first video on the Taranis, updating the firmware, obviously the latest version of the firmware is not the same as the one in your video but it seemed to go through ok when the TX was connected to the PC. Im totally stumped as to why now, the servos do not operate. Is there a way to factory reset the TX.
just as a follow up, opentx firmware version 2.3.15 is what I now have on the TX. On the Frsky website, they have updated firmware called FIRMWARE - RADIO OS, and FIRMWARE - XJT RF Module. Which of these should be installed on the TX, as they both seem to be able to be installed, and do they overwrite the open TX firmware. Thanks for your help on this, and I fully understand if you do not wish to advise.
hi Painless360.... your videos are great and very informative.....thank you !!! I have a question and I hope you can help me....I have been searching around but I seem not to able to find a solution...for me all of this stuff is new .. I got the Taranis and the d4r ii, on the Taranis I can see D16 LR12 and off unfortunately no D8. I feel desperate!!! what shall I do??
+Andrea Vassallo The EU firmware on the radio stops this from working. By using OpenTX you might get it back, if not then flashing the internal transmitter firmware too. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2500234 covers it..
+Painless360 thank you for your response!!!! I will try that!!!! I was a bit confuse because on my mode there is not EU and I still have LR12 within the options!!! Thank you again!!! You are such an valuable source of knowledge for me and most of us!!! Keep up your great job
Hi Painless 360 Great vids and GREAT work mate. It has cleared a lot of confusions which I got by watching various other u-tube. You've changed your vids slightly tho .. your into in part 1 was ~50 min. I can't see it any more. You've updated obviously but why not name them differently so that people will have chance to see your old version, if that's what s/he is used to. Just a suggestion. Cheers - CurrentDude
+CurrentDude Hi, not sure what you mean as all of the videos are here in the playlist. I've never made a video of about 50 mins. The maximum length we use on the channel is well under 30 mins. Are you sure it was one of ours? Happy flying!
+Painless360 Thanx for your reply. I came across your vid purely by chance when I was looking at YT for some other reason. The site I marked was ruclips.net/video/azs1wmr4c7wT/видео.htmlhis site was for 50 min and after watching for 10 min I realised you had presented it in the way that I was looking for. So I watched it for about 10 min and added in my list of vid to watch. This morning when I clicked on the site , the part 2 of the vid came up. This disappointed me but never the less I watched it and found that some of the presentation was different. Anyhow, nothing is lost, the basic info is still there so I'm watching it again/.It's very strange that I saw the first vid clearly stated as ~50 min. We'll never know the truth. or the mistry. I came across Taranis some two years ago when an US girl mention this in RC Groups. Last year I purchased Taranis 9 plus. A friend of mine swears by it but he now works in China. So my Taranis was just gathering dust as I could not understand some of the jargon. You've made it clear for me - so a BIG "Thank you". No stopping for me now. Keep up the good work. And of course, Happy flying with Taranis. CheersCD, Cheshire
The video is about 19 mins long so I have no idea how a site is presenting it at 50. Welcome to the channel! All of the videos are organised in Playlists for ease of use and the videos in them organised so you can watch them one after the other and build your knowledge. Check out the Playlists on the channel for more detail. Hope they helps. (BTW, I am a Cheshire lad too ;)
+Painless360 Thoight you might be a Northernlad...lol.Didyou see my latest post? Problemi in download the Zadig drive. Having tried dfferent routes(as suggested by zadig personal site), I ended up with a mega problem. My tx is not taikn but making some odd sounds. I then realised my tx came with software/ firmware factory loaded. :~( Not sure how I get out of it but will found a way. Not wishing to demand any of your time, any hint will ne appreciated here. Cheers. CD
No, sorry. This was the way that worked for me. All I'd be doing is Googling the answer like you will be. There are other ways to update firmware too - see the OpenTX University..
My FrSky X8R operating Voltage Range is: 4V-10.0V Does this mean i cant connect it to 11.1volt battery without using something to step down? What are you using to step down the voltage? Thank you,
Yep, something like that. A lot of ESCs also come with a BEC in them too so you simply use that. See my 'Introduction to ESC' video for more detail. Best of luck.
You could but you’d have to make sure that you have a spektrum module plugged into the back as this radio talks a different language to spectrum receivers use DSMX.
I have a question, lol..... I have already upgraded the gimbals to the HALL EFFECT gimbals. I'd like to know if FrSky makes a gimbal that allows you the change one of the gimbals to a "'STEERING WHEEL GIMBAL'" -- so that radio can be used for "Ground" use?
can you change the responsiveness of the stick on the taranis? in other words Im looking to get my quad to go slower then it when I move the sticks. is this possible? thanks
Yes you can . Reduced/dual rates and expo will help - ruclips.net/video/eMxqfw5Fne0/видео.html Also, you can usually adjust the amount of control in the software for the Flight controller too. Depends on the one you are using. Hope this helps
You can set the rates up for the flight controller that affect how responsive a control is. That is what he is doing in that video. You would never set exponential on the throttle channel, you would use curves to manage how the throttle behaves. Best of luck. Happy flying!
Painless360, thank you for the intro to the Taranis. You got me binded to receiver. Im trying to set up a wing plane. where did I go wrong? How do I reverse elevator and aileron controll. I only see choices to reverse throttle.
Very informative. Would you be able to tell me the right procedure for range test? I have just moved from spektrum to frsky taranis, keen to know how to perform range test on rx.
+Nas Khan By the side of where you bind the receiver you will find the [Range] selection, click on that and it will reduce the power and give you about 30 times the range when turned off again.. Best of luck!
Hello I need I little bit of help with my radio I'm use x8r and trying to set up and flight control tarot zyx-m I bined the x8r to zyx but when I go in to the tarot zyx assistant to load all my channels in it dose see my radio why can you help
can I setup first the 4 main ch and after that setup the other switchs for my FPV? or I have to setup all ch and switchs in the start? you have a very good video!!!
Hey, I need your help. When I bind my F3 board to a flysky module using a Q X7, I was already able to bind it but when I go to cleanflight only the 4 channels are working. I can't setup any switches. Help?
The FlyingWing wizard has never worked for me. I'm using the same RX as in your video. Is there something I may be doing incorrectly during the walk through? The wizard is straight forward but my Aileron and Elevator are basically switched somehow.
You usually have to mess about with the direction of both controls depending on how the servos are installed in the model. This is normal. All the mixer does is mix the elevator and aileron into two channels for the wing servos.. Best of luck!
Painless360 I watched your other video on setting up a flying wing, that's exactly what I ended up doing(reversing the values from 50 to -50 and so on. . .). Thanks for your help, all is working perfectly now!
Hi there, could you please provide a link from you tube or somewhere else on how to setup the taranis to work with an rc car please? I would like to do FPV long range with the L9r receiver. Thanks for your time in reply to me. All the best.
@@Painless360 fantastic, please leave the link here when done. I have you subscribed anyway, I should receive a notification when done. Thanks once again.
I've recently upgraded to 2.1.9 on my 'classic' Taranis. Is there a way to add the wizard into this system? Thanks for all your great technical guidance, btw.
Hi and thanks for all that knowledge! I have been trying to find out whether u have to rebind rx's each time you change models or is it automaticly bound and saved on the model in memory? Barak
Hey Painless, once again thank you for your videos very helpful, I wonder if you can provide some advice in the case were I've updated my radio which is a 2016 x9d plus to the latest firmware and the switches don't seem to be detected anymore.
Just got a taranis and youre a awesome help! thank u! Im triyng to bind my dx4r-ll but I cant change the mode from D16-eu, to anything else that OFF, what Im i doing wrong?
Your radio firmware is the EU version. It won't support many recievers. Look to change the firmware and OpenTX version on the radio if you want that. vest of luck!
Hi Painless 360, First, thank you for all the effort you put into these tutorials. Just ordered the 9E. I assume some of the programming will be the same. If not, hope you will find the time to produce some vids with the new info. BTW, saw an orange screen on your display in this vid. How did you do that?
+Pk Lehota The video on the screen is covered in the playlist, all of the videos on a topic are collected into a single playlist for ease of use. Best of luck with the new radio!
You will find that a EU version of the Taranuis will not work with a D4R II will not work with the newest version of the radio due to EU directive, D8 mode has been disabled and the only legal way to get this working is to use an external TX (DJT) this caused. me a lot of problems when I first got the radio
First port of call when im stuck ;) Just bought a Taranis after owning a 9X (OpenRx) for 4 years, upgraded the firmware from vid 1, however can't get it to bind to any of my Rx's, so far tested with V8FR-II and V8R4-II, any ideas on this?
Ok. I have a problem. When I try to create a new model I just get an error message that says "script syntax error." How do I fix this? I have upgraded to the latest firmware.
You will probably have to install it again and make sure that you've got LUA support selected.. See out video on what we used when we upgraded to 2.1.. Best of luck!
Very well explained. I look forward to the more advanced areas I haven't yet tried myself. I've been using a Taranis for over a year but I moved from a Multiplex transmitter so the idea of being able to allocate any function to any receiver channel wasn't new to me but it was difficult to to learn when I first got my Mux3030. I didn't have the benefit of video tutorials like yours, though :) No RUclips or even internet! I have the lates OpenTX firmware (ver2.0.17) installed but it doesn't seem to have the model set up functions you describe here. I assume yours is the Frsky firmware? I now rarely (never) set up a blank model. I just copy and rename an existing similar model as it saves setting up my usual switch allocations.
Need help. installed and programmed my taranis plus in my multiplex heron glider, everything is working except the flaps, when I move the switch to make the flaps go down, one goes up the other goes down, they are hooked via y harness and put on channel 6, what did I do wrong?
Sounds like the way they are installed in the model means you can’t use a y harness. I’d individually connect them to their own channels and reverse the one that’s going the wrong way. Best of luck!
+sc1212able duplicate the mix for output 6 onto output 7 and reverse the direction. All covered in this Taranis playlist in later videos or the videos in the 'OpenTX Mix school'. Please subscribe. Best of luck!
Most of my series start with basic concepts and get more complex as they progress.. starting at the beginning will help if you want to learn.. happy flying!
Hello, I'm a subscribed Newbie here and thank you very much for these Taranis X9D Tutorial videos! Bare with my simple question please, I have a X8R receiver that came with the Tx. I want to do a simple test with a servo like you demonstrated in this video. To power up the receiver I simply apply battery voltage (supply) to any vacant channel, or the SBUS? Also what voltage range?
Hello sir.... i am using taranis x9d plus radio.... my radio turn off itself while flying.... battery conections are good.... what should i check now???? Please comment
Google something like 'troubleshooting painless360' to ifnd my video on it. Troubleshooting is a logical way to break down the seperate parts of a problem and test each in turn to find the cause of the issue..

+Island Boy Aerial Solutions Happy to help but please watch ruclips.net/video/olIqTiSJHIY/видео.html and come back to me with more detail of what you've tried..
+Painless360 2.1.3 doesn't have the wizard when creating a new model, the OpenTX companion does however, but the radio just creates an entry titled "model XX" and you have to edit manually.
+basebilljr07 I don't have the PLUS Taranis, so might that be the difference? I create a new model by selecting an empty spot and ENT selecting CREATE MODEL. It just creates a MODEL XX entry, no wizard. Not sure if I'm missing something. Firmware was flashed via Companion TX.
hai... nice video,, thanks. i'd like to know how to setup align 3gx on taranis x9d / FBL heli with taranis... please give some guide about it... thanksss...

Painless360 hiya Tx again for helping... all working except for setting up the transition switch, I have set up the switch to the three position switch SA on Channel 5 but cannot get to work on model. I’m almost there,, and can’t wait to fly it but just need help with this. The vtol manual says .... “ set channel assign: (NEXT) CHANNEL INPUT CONFIG: GEAR : A AUX1: H But this is just for DX9 type transmitters, how do I config on Taranis? Many Tx again Franco
Painless360, I purchased the Turnigy becouse my Devention only has room fot 2 more models. The Taranis came with a storm racing quad. I'm goning to keep the Taranis and eventually figure it out.
The Taranis has no real usable manual, which is a disaster as far as I'm concerned. Lucky there are people who understand that this is a major problem!
Also the frsky receivers give a completely bogus method of binding the rx! Its all Googling to find out every correct method of doing all the set up, very frustrating. To bind a frsky rx to a Taranis, you need to go to youtube to find the answer. Unbelievable.
+GPEART1 the Taranis is a different type of product from things like Futaba and Spektrum. Open source products tend to give huge bang for the buck but the manuals are an afterthought. Hence why we made the two series on it here ;)

Yeah that's what I've been doing. Over and over again. Different models too.
Sounds like something is broken. The antenna connection at the top of the main circuit board can come loose in transit. Worth a check if you don't want to go back to the vendor for support..
Best of luck.
Painless360, is there any rhyme or reason to correlate the Weight and Offset in Mixes to the PWM of the APM2.6 mode selection.
If you watch that video it will give you the answer! ;)
thanks
Hi what do you think about the Radiolink at10 ii. I'm looking at it and it's very cheap and reaches a control distance of 4km so I was wondering which you would recommend. Taranis x9d or radiolink at10 ii.
Thank you!!
+Mystical Daptfyie see my video on recommended kit from last week. If you can handle OpenTX then it's Frsky every time..
Please help!
When I select 'Trim idle only' under model setup it works on the Elevator trim instead of throttle trim.
How do I change it to the throttle trim? Thanks
I dont use gear but check out the issues log in Github as there does look like a few issues - github.com/opentx/opentx/issues/5635
Not sure, I'd go through the calibration routine again.. Best of luck!
Not sure as I moved to EdgeTX a while back. Are you sure you're bound?
I just downloaded 2.1.8 and updated my firmware on my taranis, but I don't see that wizard. Did they drop the wizard in 2.1?
It's still there, make sure that LUA script support is there on the radio..
hi Painless360.... your videos are great and very informative.....thank you !!!
Hi Painless 360
Great vids and GREAT work mate.
The site I marked was
ruclips.net/video/azs1wmr4c7wT/видео.htmlhis site was for 50 min and after watching for 10 min I realised you had presented it in the way that I was looking for.
How should I power a receiver just for testing/setting up without having to connect it to my quads regulated PDB? Get a BEC and plug it to my battery?
+Four Prop Vice I use a spare 5v switching BEC, and use that on the bench - lots safer.
+Painless360 Yes, seems safer! :) Thanks!
I just flashed my firmware to 2.0.17 on my Frsky Taranis and I do not get a new model wizard. Any Thoughts? Great videos by the way!
Can you do a video on who to downgrade the software from the EU Version to a older one so we can still use the D4R-11?
Hello, do you have any video on how to program the gyro in a helicopter? Using OpenTX?
Which gyro?
Does the heli wizard work now? I saw another vid where it was still being developed and heli had to be set up in multirotor.
+ILTSYC i never use it but ast time I checked it still doesn't work. Happy flying!
hi on my taranis on the model set up on the mode selection it says xjt then D8 or D16 and so on,i noticed yours did not say xjt y is that .thx mark.
This is an old video.. happy flying
Hi the wizard only shows 4 options can I use this transmitter for a radio controlled truck?
+joggerjeff you can, just select a multicopter. Best of luck!
Thank you for your help.
My FrSky X8R operating Voltage Range is: 4V-10.0V
Does this mean i cant connect it to 11.1volt battery without using something to step down?
What are you using to step down the voltage?
Thank you,
+Amina Chee Use a 5v BEC. Using a larger voltage will only create additional heat in the receiver..
Thank you for replaying. You mean something like this: (www.banggood.com/Hobbywing-5V-or-6V-3A-Switch-Mode-Ultimate-BEC-(UBEC)-p-908018.html)
?
Yep, something like that. A lot of ESCs also come with a BEC in them too so you simply use that. See my 'Introduction to ESC' video for more detail.
Best of luck.
Thanx, you helpt me alot. I just used my esc. tested with multimeter and it give 5V.
Can i program a X9D to talk to a spectrum AS3x receiver so "SAFE" mode works?
You could but you’d have to make sure that you have a spektrum module plugged into the back as this radio talks a different language to spectrum receivers use DSMX.
I have a question, lol..... I have already upgraded the gimbals to the HALL EFFECT gimbals. I'd like to know if FrSky makes a gimbal that allows you the change one of the gimbals to a "'STEERING WHEEL GIMBAL'" -- so that radio can be used for "Ground" use?
I've not seen one, if you find one then let me know.. Best of luck!
I'm having difficulty in downloading zadig2.1.0 drive in my windowns pc XP. Any idea for an alternative drive
can you change the responsiveness of the stick on the taranis? in other words Im looking to get my quad to go slower then it when I move the sticks. is this possible?
thanks
Yes you can . Reduced/dual rates and expo will help - ruclips.net/video/eMxqfw5Fne0/видео.html
Also, you can usually adjust the amount of control in the software for the Flight controller too.
+samuel lubricant google something like 'painless360 wing mix' to find our video in a topic you're interested in. Best of luck!
Happy to help but please watch ruclips.net/video/olIqTiSJHIY/видео.html and come back to me with more detail of what you've tried..
can I setup first the 4 main ch and after that setup the other switchs for my FPV?
or I have to setup all ch and switchs in the start?
you have a very good video!!!
You can set it up however you want. Normally you'd have CH5 for modes and then CH6 onwards for other functions. Best of luck!
Hey, I need your help. When I bind my F3 board to a flysky module using a Q X7, I was already able to bind it but when I go to cleanflight only the 4 channels are working. I can't setup any switches. Help?
+Andre Martinez what switches do you have set up on the radio? What troubleshooting have you already tried?
Sorry, just a newbie confusion! Accidentally set it up in the inputs instead of the mixer. Thanks anyways! :)
What is MAVLink and what is the use of AUX ports in Pixhawk if we're already using telemetry?
Please don't post twice. I've answered this already. Happy flying!
That's a great idea. Let me make one..
@@Painless360 fantastic, please leave the link here when done. I have you subscribed anyway, I should receive a notification when done. Thanks once again.
Make sure you've clicked the 'bell notification' icon and you won't miss anything.. Happy driving!
ruclips.net/video/mTZrsUoFMnw/видео.html should be a decent start..
I've recently upgraded to 2.1.9 on my 'classic' Taranis. Is there a way to add the wizard into this system? Thanks for all your great technical guidance, btw.
www.open-tx.org/2016/09/08/lua-wizard-21 :D Hope it helps..
Got it! Works fine now :D
Hi and thanks for all that knowledge!
I have been trying to find out whether u have to rebind rx's each time you change models or is it automaticly bound and saved on the model in memory?
Barak
+Kaynan Barak Nope, binding once per model should do it! Happy flying!
Many thanks
Why is the screen on your Taranis Redish orange? Mine is only blue and white?
3000gtwelder ruclips.net/video/iy-dZGq0vkY/видео.html :)
Hey Painless, once again thank you for your videos very helpful, I wonder if you can provide some advice in the case were I've updated my radio which is a 2016 x9d plus to the latest firmware and the switches don't seem to be detected anymore.
What firmware and version?
Which firmware are you using, because having updated mine to 2.1.8 I don't have the wizard.
The Wizard is a LUA script - you need to install the support for LUA for it to run..
+Painless360 yeah I found it and installed it. Made setting up the bonzai a lot easier haha
Great! Did you have to re-install the firmware then?
+Painless360 no just created the scripts directory and put them in then rebooted and created new model.
Hi Painless 360,
First, thank you for all the effort you put into these tutorials.
You will find that a EU version of the Taranuis will not work with a D4R II will not work with the newest version of the radio due to EU directive, D8 mode has been disabled and the only legal way to get this working is to use an external TX (DJT) this caused. me a lot of problems when I first got the radio
rockwellmediadundee Please post a link to the EU directive.. Thanks

First port of call when im stuck ;)
Just bought a Taranis after owning a 9X (OpenRx) for 4 years, upgraded the firmware from vid 1, however can't get it to bind to any of my Rx's, so far tested with V8FR-II and V8R4-II, any ideas on this?
+Dodge Ditchburn Sorry mate, seems sorted now, had to use the old binding method (with a bind plug) Cheers for the vids anyway!
Happy flying! ;)
Ok. I have a problem. When I try to create a new model I just get an error message that says "script syntax error." How do I fix this? I have upgraded to the latest firmware.
I’d check that you updated the SD card contents in the radio. You can download it from Companion..
I'm on 2.1.8 and don't have the wizard is there anything I can do to get it?
You will probably have to install it again and make sure that you've got LUA support selected.. See out video on what we used when we upgraded to 2.1.. Best of luck!
Ok will try that thank you
whn im trying to setup a heli, i press enter and it doesnt do nothing do you know why??
The wizard isn't written yet. Try it in Companion..
Belper Flyer Mine it running OpenTX 2.0.17 too. Happy flying!
Need help. installed and programmed my taranis plus in my multiplex heron glider, everything is working except the flaps, when I move the switch to make the flaps go down, one goes up the other goes down, they are hooked via y harness and put on channel 6, what did I do wrong?
Sounds like the way they are installed in the model means you can’t use a y harness. I’d individually connect them to their own channels and reverse the one that’s going the wrong way. Best of luck!
so put one on channel 6 and the other on channel 7, well I need to run a mix, like slave 7 to 6, how does the switch recognise both channels?
+sc1212able duplicate the mix for output 6 onto output 7 and reverse the direction. All covered in this Taranis playlist in later videos or the videos in the 'OpenTX Mix school'. Please subscribe. Best of luck!
ok, thank you, I have watched most of your videos and subscribed, most of the info is all greek to me, I only fly gliders and need just a basic setup.
Most of my series start with basic concepts and get more complex as they progress.. starting at the beginning will help if you want to learn.. happy flying!
Thanks for another great video, can I power up my D4r-ii from any linear esc connected to a lipo?
You should be able to just make sure it's delivering the five or 6 V this receiver needs.
I thank u
Hello, I'm a subscribed Newbie here and thank you very much for these Taranis X9D Tutorial videos! Bare with my simple question please, I have a X8R receiver that came with the Tx. I want to do a simple test with a servo like you demonstrated in this video. To power up the receiver I simply apply battery voltage (supply) to any vacant channel, or the SBUS? Also what voltage range?
The specs are on most of the websites that sell them. Voltage is 4 to 10 volts but I run then at 5v, the same as any other receivers. Happy flying!
Thank You
Is there a way to setup Taranis to work with AS3X or SAFE with an Orange module?
+Ryan Toomey there sure is, see the later videos in the series where we set up external modules in the back of this radio. Happy flying
Hello sir.... i am using taranis x9d plus radio.... my radio turn off itself while flying.... battery conections are good.... what should i check now????
Please comment
the first the first thing I check would be the battery, what have you already checked with your troubleshooting?
Painless360 can u elaborate how to check troubleshooting?
Google something like 'troubleshooting painless360' to ifnd my video on it. Troubleshooting is a logical way to break down the seperate parts of a problem and test each in turn to find the cause of the issue..
Painless360 Sir, thanks a lot
the channel assignment of the taranis is just similar to the method on the old multiplex Profi mc 4000.
Really nice tutorial. do u have one for rates and expo

what firmware version is it that gets you the setup wizard for the models?
+basebilljr07 I am using OpenTX 2.0.17 in the series. There have been a few updates since this was shot. Best of luck.
+Painless360 2.1.3 doesn't have the wizard when creating a new model, the OpenTX companion does however, but the radio just creates an entry titled "model XX" and you have to edit manually.
What a shame, the wizard is such a handy thing. It is a LUA script so I'd check that you have installed LUS support when you upgraded...
+kubanishku I installed the 2.1.3 firmware and the model wizard works absolutely fine in my Taranis
+basebilljr07 I don't have the PLUS Taranis, so might that be the difference? I create a new model by selecting an empty spot and ENT selecting CREATE MODEL. It just creates a MODEL XX entry, no wizard. Not sure if I'm missing something. Firmware was flashed via Companion TX.
you upgrand vibracal taranis x9d?
Pardon?

Hiya Painless I desperately need help setting up my taranis with convergence... please anyone help!!! Tx franco
What do you mean by convergence?
Vtol
I have a orange module for taranis and have bonded taranis with spectrum receiver but am not getting any output at servos on convergence vtol flight controller
How have you tested that the outputs from the Reciever are ok?
Painless360 hiya Tx again for helping... all working except for setting up the transition switch, I have set up the switch to the three position switch SA on Channel 5 but cannot get to work on model.
I’m almost there,, and can’t wait to fly it but just need help with this. The vtol manual says ....
“ set channel assign: (NEXT)

AUX1: H

I'm so confused. anybody want to purchase a Taranis 9X or a Turnigy 9Xr really cheap?
How did you end up with two OpenTX powered radios if you're new to OpenTX?
Painless360, I purchased the Turnigy becouse my Devention only has room fot 2 more models. The Taranis came with a storm racing quad. I'm goning to keep the Taranis and eventually figure it out.
I'm trying really hard to understand this taranis. You got me binded but lost from there.. can't figure out how to change / reverse servos/ controlls
Hence why we made the two series on it here ;)
+GPEART1 use X series and always bind using the D16 setting. Happy to help if you have an actual question...
I am figuring out setting up an excalibur warmliner, hopefully I can get there!
GPEART1 we have a video in the series where we setup a plane from scratch. it's designed for new pilots. Best of luck
