- The Okuizumo Orochi is a tourist train operated by the West Japan Railway Company on the route between Shimane and Hiroshima prefectures in Japan.
These trolley trains have been operated by JR West since 1998 to promote the use of the Kisuki Line.
Due to the ageing of the rolling stock, the service is scheduled to end on 23 November 2023.
The Kisuki Line also has extremely few passengers, so its abolition is constantly discussed.

Thank you for this great video.I really enjoyed the nature, it's a pity I've never been to Japan
this video really makes me think if we are also going backwards in life. just like buildings and trees are passing us in the video and get further and further away from us just like our past but we cannot see were were going or what appears next in life just like this backwards train ride.
So many goodbyes lately...I hope some of them can be saved in the future.
A great video and a great train route! Thank you for that!
Tack!
Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the video.
A very long journey that not only entertained you with driving noises and the hum of the engine: in the background you could always hear an entertaining voice of women, children and men 😊
Although I didn't understand a word, from the laughter everyone enjoyed the trip - including me 👍
Thank you very much for showing this wonderful landscape and the friendly train 🙏 by the time I post this here the line will probably already be closed as you announced in the video description 😲
Wonderful video! It's very good that you don't use an ultra-wide lens!
Great video!
44:57 bird meeting disrupted 🤣
This would make a great heritage railway - steam locos - a dinner train. Hope something can be done to save the line.
Like in England ? LOL
今後一切奥出雲おろち号の活躍が見られなくなるのが寂しいです…
잘 보고 갑니다
1:11:34 to 1:21:51 As soon as the kid got really chatty at the frist time stamp and then somebody saying good morning to them at 1:12:22. I wonder that is about. Since it's kids, is it a class of some sort? A field trip? That's kind of a weird catch on microphone...
Good Job :)
Quite a jungle out there ??? 🥸
49:00 - That’s an Osprey!
forward movement @26:50
glad to see another person that does not like backward going views. It's so much better when we go forward. Give me time to see what's coming up and have a good look as the train passes by. While we go backward, things appear suddenly and then get smaller and smaller quickly. I can't appreciate as much.
Is the railway company keep some or all of this railway line active for freight train reason or our they going to abandon so or all of this railway line and give back to the government for hikers and other recreational uses for the public?
I don't think it is used for freight.
In the past, it was easy to go from Hiroshima to San-in area, especially to Matsue. Many people used to use the line from Matsue to Hiroshima. However, the passenger rate is decreasing due to the population decline caused by the influx of young people to the cities along the line and the aging of the population, and since it is the second loss-making line in JR West, it is only a matter of time before all but one section of the line is closed down (sad).
The reasons for the decrease in the passenger rate include, in addition to population decline
The highway runs along the line, so people living in mountainous areas can use their cars more conveniently than trains because they can get around more easily by car than by train.
As mentioned above, freight is located further east on the Kisuki line here. Therefore, they will not be used.
I don't know much about it, but I think in Japan, JR owned the tracks of the conventional lines, so I wonder if they would sell them or leave them to a company that can do activities using the tracks instead of returning them to the government.
Sorry I don't know about that.
Must be a “Push - Pull” operation.
前面のところに居座っての撮影禁止なのにどうやってブレずに撮影したのこれ?
コロナ前の撮影当時は、そういったルールは設けられておりませんでした。

Is Demographics playing a part in the spate of closures at the moment?
Of course, all young people moved to cities, old people who live in these rural places passing away and there's no babies. Japan lost 500K people last year net...
Just temporarily suspend these lines till people reproduce again.
They work 12 h per day 6 days in a week and live in 10square meter flats where they can reproduce and when? They will dissapear.
掃除の女性にとっては全く興味が無い事なのだと思いました。おろち号が出発するホームに居るのに、見ることもしなかったです。
