I love watching everyone's faces when Stevie Ray starts playing behind his back and never misses a beat.
Many of those folks wonder, "HOW?!" To start with, I'm sure it sounded like crap when SRV first experimented; but persistence and constant practice got him to where he was and to the point he flabbergasted us!
or looses a tooth playing guitar w. his mouth. same
Hendrix did it first but Stevie did it better!
I love that too. He was definitely a once in a lifetime talent. There will never be another SRV.
it’s actually not as difficult to play behind ur back ( ofcourse it’s difficult playing like him but yeah) your fretting hand doesnt really switch up or anything
the difficult part might be consistently picking the right notes since you cant see your hand
My wife cried for a week when he died and gave our firstborn child 'Vaughan'. as his middle name. He picked up a guitar at the age of 14. By the age of 16 he was a damn good guitarist & in the school rock band. Now, at the age of 30, he is brilliant. We still tell him it is all because of the spirit in his name. And yes, he loves playing some of Stevies songs. After all he had been listening to them from when he was in the womb. So had the neighbours.
My parents named me after him. so i feel the same way. I love singing when im driving and i have been told i have a good voice. Keep rockin brother
So did I! 😢
Remember, this is live! He is a true legend. You would struggle to find anyone today with this much raw talent. Untouchable. Watch his video Live at the El Macambo
This is the El Mo.
@@alanmacification yes sorry, I meant watch the whole video. The rest is just as good. Cheers
Give a listen to Billy Strings . Amazing young finger picker .
@@dennisbrooks8566 love Billy Strings!!! He is another super talented artist, no question!!
Albert collins didn’t use a pick
Stevie Ray Vaughn for so far beyond anyone before or after him. He was a rock god and now he's one of God's children.
Nobody in history has ever had a conversation with a guitar like this man.
BB Kong said the thing about Stevie is that he keeps ghe conversation going where other players gave to pause and think of something else. Clapton has said Stevie was never at a loss for phrasings. Open channel. The music just spills out of him like a waterfall.
Roy Buchanan did it better. 😂
Stevie played the guitar like his life depended on it. Just dripping with talent.
He’s gods gift to us. Enjoy.
SRV stands as an eternal guitar god among guitar legends Millie....he was one with his instrument. So much respect for Stevie...stand in awe man. By the way, if someone else here has not shared, his last name is pronounced as VONN...Like the word ON just with a V in front of it. Great reaction!
Actually it rhymes with yawn but either way hyperbole fails to adequately describe his brilliance. I was fortunate enough to see him live 3 times and yeah, he's the GOAT.
disagree with how its pronounced, its definitely more like VAWN than VONN
Always wonderful to see the youngsters of today discover Stevie Ray Vaughan (Pronounced Vonn). Yes, he was the greatest and the world lost a fantastic musician when he died. Very good!
why does no one say it like "vonn" when talking about him, iv'e only ever heard it pronounced vawn
@@shanehodges6980 Potayto / potato
@@jamiemacdonald436 Not really the same situation, people are trying to "correct" some ones pronunciation incorrectly
Stevie Ray's insane guitar skills are undeniable but I love seeing people's amazement when they hear him sing! Great job Millie you were feeling Stevie Ray!!!
My standard SRV reax vid comment: I was lucky enuf to see him in a small hall after he got clean. Ten minutes into the show, you feared for his life. 40 minutes in, you feared for yours. Utterly relentless force of nature, music oozed from his every cell. Just a complete tsunami, you could not breathe. RIP.
I saw 6 times, 3 before anyone outside of Texas knew about him.
One of the best guitarists of all time. Died before in 1990 in a helicopter crash at the age of 35. Texas Flood is a blues song first recorded by Larry Davis in 1958.Willie Nelson and Albert King recorded the song also, but Stevie Ray Vaughan had the most masterful and lasting version.
What Zen is to spirituality, "The Blues" is to music... It's not numbers, not keys, not scales, not technique... It simply is. When one is in the "zone," there are no mistakes in Blues. As a person that has played such in the past, I count the fingers on one hand, and still come up short, when I have got into this zone. That's what makes legends like SRV so incredible! Because, every time he picked up his Strat, he was already there!!! I got to see him live in '88, and it was epic--to say the least!
"...blimey..." heh, love it when he hits that run of licks and people get amazed, perplexed, and usually a big smile on their face... never tire of these reactions....but wait, there's more, heh....
I saw Stevie LIVE 3 times before he died. He was Epic as you said. One of the greatest ever. Loved your reaction.
SRV = GOAT!!!!! The best guitarist of all time. RIP.
I have to give the GOAT title to SRV. Many extraordinary guitarists, but none leave me slack-jawed and exhausted after watching them perform like he does.
I totally agree man....
No he's not😊
No doubt my guy I say this as somebody who gas been playing most of my life and I've heard all the greats
@@Tijuanabill Hendricks is probably the greatest innovator but certainly not the greatest player as he made many mistakes when he played I got introduced to Stevie as somebody who could play jimi better than Jimi and guess what it's true my guy if you don't like it too bad but it's true Jimi Hendrix was my Guitar Hero until I got introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughan I still play left-handed because of Jimi but I know he wasn't the best to ever play a guitar that would go to Stevie Ray Vaughan as far as I know sorry my guy
He plays better behind his back than many guitarists play in front!
Did you notice he reached up and tuned either the E or A string in the middle of the solo as well. About 7:30 on my timer. The dude was a major legend. He was originally inspired to play while watching his older brother Jimmie.
Probably tuned the E to D, aka "drop D" tuning.
In an interview with Jimmy, Jimmy said that Stevie was hard to play with because he never played a song the same way "once".
@@Tijuanabill Actually Stevie tuned his guitar to E flat he tuned the other strings down a half a step as well. He did that so he could bend the strings easier. He used the heaviest strings possible because of the tone. He also kept his action as high as possible because of the string gauge and tone. Supposedly never used drop D tuning and really did not need to. Our lead guitarist used to tune a lot during solo's he was used to the sound and knew instantly when out of tune. It takes real skill and time on the fretboard to do that.
You should check out Jeff Healey, sadly we lost him in 2008. He was blind from the age of 3 and learned to play with guitar by putting it in his lap. He was discovered by SRV. And was in the movie Roadhouse with the rest of the band. You will be blown away when you hear this amazingly talented blind man.
Lucky to have seen him 3 times in concert.
This came out when I was in my early college Years and I love it so much. I was lucky enough to see him three times before his early tragic death. A humble guy that was so talented. And double trouble is fantastic for him, they know each other so well and they're all contributing heavily.
I had to chuckle because I knew what was coming near the end, and couldn't wait to see your reaction.
One of the best guitarists of all time. It's often been said that he doesn't plug in his guitar, he plugs in his soul.
Welcome to the magical world of SRV. Here you will find the 🐐 of 🎸 and see him bare his soul through every lick !
You just watched the 🐐, baby. So awesome to see your generation appreciate and keep alive this amazing talent
R.I.P. SRV when guitars go to bed at night they dream of being played by SRV
Love watching people's first reaction to SRV and then the behind the back 😅
Yeah, he played past, and did crazy stuff, like bending on the first or second fret, play lightening fast hammer ons and pull-offs, and flying through crazy licks while playing a guitar strung with seriously heavy gauge strings that would make most mortals' fingers bleed (he played between 13 and 18 gauge strings- yes 18 gauge!). He got super fat tone, but I can't even imagine the time he put in just to get strong enough to play strings that heavy. He is a legend. The album bearing the same name as this song "Texas Flood" is a great one to buy to really get into SRV; it's amazing.
Stevie is the GOAT. His voice has been described as "honey poured over gravel".
2:10 is the best part of this video, when Millie really notices "Stevie" and then looks so elated
Dude was a beast on the guitar!! All that needs to be said.
Great reaction 👍! SRV is a legend in Texas where i'm from. Blues and shuffle are commonly played even to this day. But after awhile alot of guitarist branches out from playing minor and major pentatonic lead lines and they started to add flavor their rhythm and blues lead line like this guy ..

The best, nobody else is near his talent
What a huge loss the day we lost SRV
you shall see it this way. there is no heaven without SRV. God had to get him
Great reaction to this performance by SRV. He was truly one of the greatest.
I am pleased to see another young person enjoying what my peers and I have been enjoying for the last 35 years. Hope you will delve deeper into the SRV rabbit hole.
How? How? How? Because he is The Greatest of All Time!!!
SRV = THE G.O.A.T.
Been a devoted fan of his 40 plus years. Saw him 4 times live. This performance is my all time favorite. Each song he played had more superb guitar work than other bands had on a complete album. Not too shabby for someone that didnt read music. Eric Clapton had to stop watching him from backstage because he thought he would be too intimidated to be able to follow him onstage. Truly the greatest of all time!
From my neighborhood!!!! Met him once at the mall! The best EVER!!!!
IMO this is the best live performances I've ever seen of any genre! GOAT status secure. If you want another awesome live song try his duet with Johnny Copeland - Tin Pan Alley is the roughest place you've ever been....
Stevie was a VERY special guitar player. That song is his epic piece, especially this particular performance. His loss was immeasurable.
Stevie is simply THE ONE.
Now you have to do Life Without You at the Capital Theater! Stevie KILLS IT!!!
Another suggestion: "Voodoo Child," cover of a Jimi Hendrix song. SRV knew Jimi's family; they let him borrow the wah-wah pedal he uses in the performance!
The blues was reinvigorated when it went electric. You should check out Johnny Winter, and even some Jimi Hendrix blues (Red House).
The GOAT....RIP Stevie.
Thank you for loving SRV
He really was the only one.
I was lucky enough to see him live when he came to Tokyo.
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life Without You - 9/21/1985 - Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ and Stevie Ray Vaughan - Look at Little Sister (Live) Stevie Ray Vaughan - Little Wing (07/11/1983) and Stevie If you listen to Ray Vaughan - Little Wing (recording version), I think SRV will be happy in heaven (I really want you to listen more, but I can't say it's impossible) Please make my wish come true Thank you very much
God bless Millie Mochi
He plays what’s called the dirty blues
Hold on to your chair young lady. Stevie is the greatest ever.
Love you and your reaction, you are so fun! It always amazes me when someone can play whatever his soul wants. The talent that transcends what you can see, he can play what he feels, no limit. Most of us are looking at our guitars, realizing we have no idea that the thing can even do that.
Live at the Mocambo "Lenny" was Awesome!
A guy picks up a guitar and never puts it down until he can make anything out of it. That’s called passion obsession and work. RIP SRV.
Stevie's guitar is the lightning, his voice is the thunder.
Welcome to the SRV Fan club! I caught one of his shows in DC a long, long time ago. It was awesome!
The secret to SRV and Hendrix was months, if not years of practice, while on LSD. The guitar became a part of them. They would then do a bunch of coke before going on stage so they could increase their focus and speed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
STEVIE RAY VAUGHN 🙏🏻🌹🙏🏻
The world lost alot we Stevie passed no can play and sing like srv heaven has the best blues now
Why do the best artists die young, and the best athletes blow their knee out young? I guess it's asking to much for every parameter in the universe to align, plus time.
SRV The BEST Rock/Blues Guitarist to ever walk the Earth.
One thing that gave Stevie's guitar that sound was that he tuned his guitar down to Eb - half step down.
Great reaction as always! ❤ looking forward to more! Thank you!
Pure Blues Progression
You don’t have to block him out!🤨 He will always be the GOAT OF GOATS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The GOAT!
Dude could not read a single note of music. Just listened, learned and played. And never the same twice. His amazing band, Double Trouble, were just about the only musicians who could keep up with his constantly changing interpretation of the songs. The Angel of Music both wrapped her arms around Stevie, and beat him with her wings; his life was difficult and he learned the blues through genuine suffering.
💯
You need to watch him and his brother Jimmy do the guitar duet of Pipeline.
Millie, u did this one already, dear... ur reaction was amazing, how could i forget it? ...what u need to do now is stevie ray vaughan, “life without you”, live, at the capital theater in passaic, new jersey, on the date of 9/21/1985 ... u need a new SRV mind blowing occurrence
this is the best reaction vid ive seen cuz you actually react and its genuine
thank you! SRV is the GOAT.. lol.. this one is widely acknowledged as one of his best.. love your reaction.. he is truly missed...
Stevey ray Vaughan was one of the best that ever walked this planet ❤
Hearing Stevie is great but seeing him is on a different level
There are those days in life, imprinted forever, burned into your memory, that you’ll never forget. Driving on 294 home from work and heard on the radio the legend was gone. 35 years old, an absolute tragedy for music, we lost one far too soon. His guitar was simply an extension of him, perhaps even directly connected to his soul. Music just flowed from him.
One can only guess that somewhere up in heaven there’s one hell of a jam session going.
Loving your reviews!
New subscriber, loved your reaction to the guitar king himself, SRV!
Love your Channel, and your reaction. Stevie Ray Vaughan is my Favorite guitar hero. You need to check out his live version of
" Look at little sister " and watch he breaks a string.....you were talking about checking out the Guitar heros, here is a short list of my all-time favorites after Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, B.B King, Alvin Lee, Roy Buchanan, Snowy White, Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, Freddie King, Slash, and Albert King, I can recommend a few great videos to watch also. I'm 61 and I started playing the guitar when I was 8. I've played in garage bands, touring bands and doing session work. I love to see someone as young as you who appreciate good guitar players.
You just witnessed the single greatest guitar performance, ever. You can try and convince me of others (Roy Clark's Malanguena is a close second).
Greatest bluesman ever!, no one can come close, bless you SRV!
If you really want to be blown away, watch SRV and his brother, Jimmie, playing together…literally…on the song “Pipeline.”
Yes. Definition of a guitar god. Great smile millie 🤘❤️ keep rocking
This was a real musician something that doesn't exist in today's music.
You're not looking hard enough. There are just as many "real" musicians as there ever was.
LOL. The 80s were badass. Some of our most stressful decisions were: Iron Maiden is playing the Summit, and Judas Priest is playing the Colosseum on the same night! LOL! sometimes we'd watch the opening band for one show which might be Queensryche or Triumph and leave only to go elsewhere to watch the headliner like Van Halen or AC DC at another place. And yeah, tickets were like $12 - $14. You should check out "Stargazers" live from Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio. Please wear Depends when you do so.
It was incredible to see him live and I was lucky enough to see him before he died. It was an incredible show, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Greg Allman, and Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble. It started raining at a outside venue and we were all worried that SRV wouldn't play. He came out on stage to check it out, kicked at the stage and a huge spray of water came off his kick. Heard him say, as he walked by a mic, Fuck it, let's rock this fucker! Crowd went insane!! They came out an just absolutely killed it!
I think the sound you're asking about is from him 'bending' strings
Millie 💐🇬🇧 I’ve always loved Stevie’s work since the early 70s hanging out with Johnny Winter an idol of mine.- ✌️Thomas
"Ain't gonna give up on love" At the 85 Montreaux festival was awesome, as was Tin Pan Alley. His version of Voodoo Chile in Tokyo was the best!
I saw SRV in college gym, in New Jersey, 1986. I was 16. He changed the way I heard music, permanently.
There are many great Blues guitar players, like Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Gary Moore and others, but SRV is the GOAT. Notice that Stevie's ayes are closed for most of this performance... he knew his way around a guitar, for sure. I saw him, Clapton and others the night of the helicopter crash, and I haven't had an inclination to another concert ever since.
Life Without You live at the Capitol Theater
17 years of non stop hard Practice!
Thank you!
I love that you love this so much. He was amazing
Gotta go beyond....got to forget yourself and tap into the spiritual. Music isn't about self, its a conduit. Tap into it and let the passion and influence flow through you, so the truth of it can be revealed.
riverera paradise ok so I cant spell. chillin blues to put you mind at ease. love your reactions . get crackin
There is no other sound like Stevie Ray.
Good start to SRV - I looked forward to your behind the back segment. More SRV please....
His voice is Gravel with Honey
the first time i saw him play, i put my guitar down for a year! i knew i could never compete with that talent. fortunately after a year or so, i realised it is ok to be second best to god! :) big love to all people :)
Vaughan (VON) is on the MT Rushmore of guitarists with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Hendrix, Van Halen, and Jeff Beck. According to Tommy Shannon (bass) this was SRV's best performance on tape. It was also 2 years before he became sober. An hour before this show he was in a cocaine induced coma and had medical personnel revive him with IV fluids and vitamins. Hence the more than usual sweat and even more than usual notes.
I was a saxophone and trumpet player until 1987, I heard THE SKY IS CRYING from SRV and got an acoustic Martin sigma and a Fender strat in the early 90s. I still play almost everyday for fun.
He was a guitar god that left us too soon☹️.
Wow, you gotta react to Stevie’s Riviera Paradise Live in Austin Texas, you have to! trust me!
Your next Stevie Ray Vaughan experience should be his performance with Jeff Healey (a great Canadian blind blues guitarist and singer) in "Look at Little Sister".
You can tell from the video how much Stevie respects Jeff's playing which is saying something special. Unfortunately, we have lost both musicians but still have the privilege of seeing their performances both together and apart.

You're welcome. 🙂
The VaughanHealey Band,can you imagine?😊
