At first that car screamed original Eleanor but once painted red, it screamed Diamonds Are Forever. Nice work 👌👌👌
My uncle had one just like this. Same red and black dress. I would sit in it when I was young and pretend it was mine haha. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Front end looks super tuff. Wicked resto.
Ahhhhhh!!! My most favorite car of all-time. Since I was a young kid I have always loved the early 70's Mach1, most especially a dark green paint, with green and black alternating strips, leather seats. I sure hope this reaches 2,000 "likes" and I get lucky! I would walk around with it for a week, or more, in my pocket so I could show it to alllll my friends and family ( and that's the truth 😂).
Thank you for giving that little car some love, and for sharing with us.
That’s a beast of a model. You’ve done a great job bringing back better than original.
One FABULOUS looking 71 to 73 Mustang!! You pulled off another excellent restoration job!!
Bloody hell mate! What a torpedo of a car! Fantastic! And that caustic soda. It's like Dr Jekyll soup! Great work Rob. You're getting better and better!
Awesome job on the Mustang Rob, looks better than new! I've had the privilege of getting up close and personal with 2 real Mach 1's and they truly are awesome vehicles.
Came out sweet, the details in the grille and rear panel makes all the difference! Gorgeous!
Thanks Keith
I like Matchbox models but I love Corgi models. You did a fantastic job on this one.Attention to detail is great. Keep up the great work Rob.
Have to admit, absolutely love the job you did on this Mach 1! This video actually convinced me to add a red one to my collection of diecast mustangs, and not even ten minutes after buying it I saw a dark green for a great price and bought it too!
Excelente pieza. Buen video bro. 👍
Nothing to say. Perfect restoration.
Good job, Rob.
My mother bought a 1973 Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland engine new. It actually was still on the truck when she bought it. When she went to the bank to get the money, they got it off the truck, did the dealer inspection on it, and filled it up with gas. When she picked it up, it had .06 of a mile on the clock. It was red, trimmed in black, with a black interior. She later ordered a car seat from Ford that custom fit the seats for me. The car is long gone, but I still have the child seat for it.
Woah, what a model Rob,that looks awesome, the red paint kept suits the car, even though the wheels are wide, they seem built for this car, details are magnificent.
Well done. I am a truck guy, but this mustang and the 69 camero are the only two cars I ever cared for. You have earned a sub from me!
Another great looking restoration. This one brought back childhood memories of the Mach 1 my uncle used to own back in the 70's. His was yellow and black and he owned it up until the early 80's.
beautiful. the windscreen looks like new, the color is perfect
Lovely resto Rob, that paint looks great. The flat black engine cover looks perfect and that red is spot on. If the red is "straight from the jar" it must be the black primer that gives it that slightly dirty shade, looks mean.👍 Shame about the original wheels but the replacements look just fine. What a shame these didn't come with sound.😁
Cheers for now,
Dougie.
Can't go wrong with a Mustang. Excellent work Rob.
1971 mustang mach 1 with the 428 Cobra Jet was my favorite. You did a great job with this one Rob!
Mine too!
That’s a beautiful restoration. Rob thanks for doing these videos you are one of my favorites to watch
What a great Casting, thankfully you brought it back to Life. Fun to watch, as always!
Wow! One of your best restorations to date! Bravo
I have always loved this model mustang. I always imagined myself cruising down route 66 in one of these.....You are the restoration king...always love watching your restos. Keep up the great work.
I could tell just by looking at this you would turn it into a diamond.
To the person who wins this: I hope you put this on a shelf all by itself with display lighting.
This is a real beauty!
👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely first class mate! Your detailing is second to none!
i was never a ford guy but i have always liked the 71-73 mach 1 fastbacks. it looks great
Mustang Fanatic here, Love this car, amazing resto!
Really nice job on this one. I even like the change of the wheels. The front ones could have been a little smaller, but considering what happened to the original ones on the heater, I think these were a good alternative. And the size is probably more appropriate anyway. I really like what you did here.
Nice mach one. When I was in high school a guy I knew and his brother owned a mach one like this one. Theirs was blue with gray trim and a spoiler on the back. I think they entered it in a few car shows. I miss those cars and the cheap gas back in the 1970s. About 40 cents a gallon in America. Thanks
Wheels look like 80’s Majorette. Looks great!
Thanks to bring back life again to my old Mustang, you're a magician! 👍😉
Brilliant finishing Rob,look amazing.
Love it man, that colour is really nice.
This mean passion for this kind of job.
💗
Thats a good looking casting there! Kinda one of those you never thought you wanted but you then do.
Nice Job once more Rob,just gotta love a Mustang no matter which era it's from,James Bond Roger Moore once got one of these cars onto 2 wheels & drove it in a famous scene in Live and let die back in the early 70's I remember, cheers
Mom's ex boyfriend had a 71 Mach 1 in a Greenish gold metal flake color with a black racing strip. Those tires are more spot on with what I saw on it than the originals.
Awesome job Rob,paint looks great, wheels give the car an aggressive look,I have always liked this body style on this year of Mustang.
I love it! I think the wheels were a good choice, the red is gorgeous. I love watching your videos, they inspire me to try my own customs and restos.
Very very cool corgi and you did a very top notch job on this casting they caught the factory look and details just wonderfully love the vid great job
Outstanding job! I'm a Ford Man, and I love the Mustang. I have a few in my collection. This would be nice to add. I always learn something from your videos.
glad you went with a red-ish paint, it went really well with the black details on this one, and yeh the tires are a bit big, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Nice restoration Rob I was hoping for the green colour but never mind these always a next time. Again a nice job done 👍
Frank Bullit's upgrade. 😎👍Totally awsome resto!
It's a beautiful beast of a car. Corgi released this as a tie-in to the James Bond movie, 'Diamonds Are Forever' (1971), along with possibly the best Corgi toy ever, the 'Moon Buggy'.
Your resto? Looks good enough to eat. Magnificent result.
nice casting and the details really popped! the only thing i would do is polish the paint to smooth out the orange peel!
The wheels make it look extra beefy. Love it. Cheers!
A master piece of restoration work Rob amazing car keep up the great work
I love the Mach 1 Mustangs. You did a great job on this one Rob. I'm sure it will hit 2000 likes in no time
Beautiful job. The mach 1 is one of my dream cars.
Brilliant cars absolutely love the Mustangs, you have done a fantastic job on the resto rob looks brilliant mate 👏
I was so close Rob, SO close! I thought it was a 98.3% paint removal on the body, and then you go and carry it out an extra decimal place with the extra .04! 😄😄
Looks great my friend. You can never go wrong with a Mustang!
Looks so good I want get behind the wheel and have some fun! Great job as usual, Rob. Great detail. You should do more of these WhizzWheels.
You can almost hear the roar when you look at it - this says enough about the top job you did on this 👌
That is one off your top ten restorations i would love this car. could you imagine driving a real one. What a head turner
Wow!!! Love that car!! The wheels look great on it... Fantastic Job!!
This looks mean. Finish on the paint is good enough to be used in an advert for a real car, in fact the entire thing does remind me of the old school car adverts with yellowed colours. Beautiful job again sir, and I love the fact that you polished the steering wheel, even though it's very difficult to see
Great job Rob, really like the paint job.👍
Great job on this one Rob. Looks factory fresh
Must be the end of my shift because here l am! Beautiful work as always!
What a transformation Rob. Looks like a real Mustang now with all that detail added and the red is just fab. I also think the wheels really suite it. I'm sure George will tell you so. I want to drive this car.
Turned out looking great 👍
Funny enough.. because the windows were yellow, I was almost expecting you to paint it yellow or orange.
Love the color, beautiful restoration as always!!!
This is one of my favorites you've done. I've always liked the Mustang fast backs, they just have a cool look to them. This one came out great, nice work.
Oh wow, you're so lucky. Love the end result too.
Totally Awesome!!!!! The detailing ... Perfection!!! I would love to own this one!!! 👍👍👍👍
Yet another amazing resto-mod. I imagine looks better now then it did new. Wouldve loved to see you add tge detail to side marker lights
I hear you on trying to do earlier "attempts" at restorations: I have a casting of an AMC Gremlin that I tried to restore at a young age: it took me FOREVER to get it stripped down to bare metal and restored to its original violet (and both gave the interior a nice taupe colour from it being plain white originally AND added in details like colour to the spare tyre and chrome on the "metal" parts.
It looks like a respectable commuter car now!
Great job, Rob! That's a sweet car. Love the channel, keep up the great work!
that paint jobs booooo-teaful, really well done Rob, one of ya best.
Quite the transformation! Big fan of the Mach 1s
Looks great! My only suggestion would be to paint the steering wheel rim black or brown (like woodgrain).
Another beauty, each video gets me more and more excited for my commission job. Also a heads up that I have a little thank you package on its way to you.
Thanks Chuck, still waiting on the wheels but should be here shortly 😎👍🏼
Best one yet Rob. Keep up the good work.
nice job on the mustang but the smaller matchbox is the best
Wonderful detail. This is my favorite body style mustang
Nice transformation, I reckon the wheels look awesome wide like that, makes it look mean... Top job fella... 👌👍
The 72 Mach 1 is perhaps my favorite muscle car. I wish I had one. This is the color I would want too. Absolutely came out perfect, except for the wheels but what can you do? I am glad you got the details right on the blacked out front and rear grilles.
I believe the Mach 1 came with a 351C engine, and even in its best form I don't think it would be a 10 second csr, at least in stock form. These cars from the 70s were just choked to death with emissions equipment, that really did not do anything to reduce the smog from the tailpipe.
What a beauty!!! Restoration on point and the new wheels do suit the casting!
I enjoy watching your restorations. Thanks
Such a beautiful mustang, you did it justice
Beautiful Mustang, i think those wheels look good on this car 😀
Beautiful job on the Mustang. It's absolutely gorgeous and I like the wheels you put on. The horse on the grill really makes it pop. 🍻
Looks good. Love orange. Im huge mustang colletor. Mostly the 1/64.
Great job! As Mike Brewer would say "that's a cracking motor you have there!"
Another fine job Rob, your getting quite good a this ;-)
Thanks Tony 😂
Every nice job. The bigger wheels look good.
Excellent choice of car and colors.
Great job on the restoration! Looks great!
Great restoration, I liked very much from a to z, I will have a little advice, just to remind the old days, the brand of those wide tires could be painted white.)
Great restoration and paint job 👌
VERY NICE WORK !!!
You need to keep doing more of the larger scale models Rob...it looks the foofing business! Very nice indeed mate! 👌👍
This is my ultimate favorite car, you did great it's beautiful.....👍
Stunning restoration Rob , little fact for you - They used a yellow 'Eleanor' Mustang Mach1 in the original version of "Gone in 60 seconds" , l,actually got this on DVD from a charity shop. It was on region 1 so,l guess whoever bought it couldn't play it on thier DVD player , l set mine to multi regional , so l was able to play it , and boy the Mach1 they used got totally trashed even using it on a 50 ft long jump , but it still drove after filming. The film itself was very from 1974 l think and typical of films from that time but the stunts were done using actual pedestrians , police , fire brigade and other amineties. You might find it here on You Tube , well worth watching and l think better than the later version when you think about how they did the stunts 👍..... Fantastic build Rob l must see if l can come across one of these , l'd love to have an Eleanor from the original Gone in 60 seconds ! 😆
Jerry Bailey Saxondale had a yellow one.
I love the original film but Eleanor wasn't actually a genuine Mach 1. She was a 1971 fastback altered to resemble a 1973 Mach 1.
H B 'Toby' Halicki built her from the ground up adding a full NASCAR roll cage and twin handbrake levers and the scene where he hit the post wasn't meant to happen. From what I have heard, when Toby woke up from the 'accident', all he said was "you got that didn't you" or words to that effect. He also damaged his spine quite severely too when he landed from the jump but Eleanor took a licking and kept on ticking
I have been looking for that dvd for ages and have never found it so jealous 😂
This is one of my fave Corgi Cars ever made use to own a 71 Green Mach 1 also a 71 T bird with suicide door 426 thunder jet engine in it like always a pleasure to watch a pro do it
Great job and I like the wheels you chose .👍👍👍👍
Yet another great job, Rob... One of my favorite cars... 🏁
Used to love these and the Speedkings as a kid, being a bit bigger I had to save up my pocket money or get them for Birthday or Christmas, sadly few of my childhood ones seem to have been kept including my fav which was a Martini livered Lancia (037?), hopefully I'll find another one in good nick some day.
Turned out great! Good work, buddy.
A stunning result! The colour, the details, especially the mustang horse up front! The wheels are very nice and I agree they are a bit too thick. If you had a small lathe they could be turned thinner if they are solid plastic perhaps, but what do I know? I have such lathes but no restoration ‘knowledge to help! In any case this is a brilliant project as always!
