This has always been one of my favorite fusion songs. They usually played it a lot faster than this though. This song in particular gets really intense when it's faster.
Yep, and I've seen him with Vic and Mike Stern at Blues Alley in DC. Dennis is one of my few influences of whom possesses no formal educational background; he's just that damn good.
Everyone speaks about Sco. His music speaks for itself actually. The challenge of being a bandleader is to find musicians who elevate the bandleader's music. Clearly Scofield succeeded in spades. Like is former bandleader Miles Davis, Scofield has also done his part to unleash monster musicians onto the playing field. He paid it forward, big time. 🙌🙌👏👏🙌🙌
Wow! Make mines some words of a friend of mine: "Where/how this dude has learned things like that?" In Dennis' case, most of those 'tricks' he has invented them! He played here in Belo Horizonte 10 years ago with Mike Stern and people, including me (by all means), got really impressed with his talent and speed. Very nice.
Some people study music, some practice to proficiency, some are naturally gifted and can study, learn, practice, and innovate. Dennis is that last rare breed. What he was put here to do and he never disappoints.
The Scofield Gammavision/ Blue Matter albums in the mid 1980's were the baddest sounds going. Still holds up dam near 30 +yrs later.
27 Years Later and this is STILL The Sickest Shit since Buddy and Billy.
This is a classic....period !
I love the this number and it's first class musicianship. Timeless!

Every drummer should own the Serious Moves DVD!
One of the best contemporary drummers commenting on old footage of one of the greats. Love to see it.

Gary looks so cool when he's feeling the groove.. You can tell because he starts doing that sway thing.. Perfect example starting at 2:11

he also didnt learn rudiments, its all from the brain and why he sounds so unique
SICK...so fluid and effortless while SO complex!!!
And really nobody speaks about the magnificent John Scofield on guitar!!!!
For real. He and his compositions basically put Chambers and Grainger on the map...
A bad ass with no credit.

Of course... Sco ran the show. Chambers is a beast, but without Sco, there’d be no show!

I have it on CD since I'm 8 or something (thanks daddy). ;-)
Oh yah, and I saw Gary Grainger perform with Paul Reed Smith (no Chambers though!) at a local music store - so good.

Amazing...
Do you listen to the Greg Howe Extraction cd with Dennis and Victor Wooten Travis? If you haven't heard it I really recommend you go buy it today.
Yes.

I'm a killer on the skins myself, let's just get that out of the way, That said, this is the most sick laying down of the kit in history of recording.
that lick he did at 6:19 was nuts!!!!!
Lucky you!
Scofield rips it up in this!!!
Que monstruo de baterista! Parece iluminati!!!
I'm just curious: is the quality of the dvd like this? or is the audio and vido more synced?
Chambers

I love how Travis Orbin's comment is already on the top hahaha only after 5 hours
All I can say is WTF

Worst guitar piece from a "named" guitar player.
Unmusical.
