- Going back through the episodes, I didn't think Homelander killed as many people this season as opposed to last season. I'd love to see him go completely insane in the future and just killing anyone that annoys him like what we saw in Episode 5

I’ve never thought about it before but the actor does a great job of pretending laser rays are coming out of his eyes

What I loved was the realsm in Homelander's laser eyes. When he laser's the crowd in the fantasy, you can see it doesn't just scythe through them all, and that is actually has a "range" or at least it loses lethality at a point.
I love his acting with the laser eyes too, genuinely feels like he's firing lasers out of his eyes
It's more about the angle. Since he stands at the elevation, the rays would travel less distance before going into the ground. If he was on the same level as the crowd, he would have cut them all much faster and easier.
well it does its just the way hes standing and he probably doesnt want to level the buildings around him
He lasered a plane in half from much further away. Im pretty sure it was just the angle. Also remember he can control how powerful it is.
he can control the intensity of the laser vision; sometimes, he makes it a slow, burning, painful kill (such as when he fries that woman's skull but not all the way through it) and other times, he's slicing people in half with it like a 1000 degree knife.
as stated above, he can cut through many different materials with it, not just flesh and bone. it basically depends on his mood (pretty scary!)
Look I know this sounds weird, but it's kinda heartwarming when homelander asks where his son is. Like I know he's a terrible father, and an even worse person, but he still loves him, in some strange messed up way.

Homelander is far from a terrible father. If anything he is quite a good one. Yeah throwing his son off the roof may not have been the smartest idea, but come on, homelander can take a nuke. Im sure his son dropping 15 feet in a worse case scenario is not an issue. Everyone needs a push (literally) sometimes before they jump off the deep end.
He brought up multiple good points of lying to Ryan about his life such as his powers and his fake neighborhood would make him resent his mother, which it did. Homelander just wants someone to relate to, and he genuinely cared for Ryan showing this multiple times, even when Ryan blatantly resented him. And when Ryan needed him the most, Homelander still unwaveringly forgave him and was there for him.
If anything, I can't name one bad thing Homelander did to Ryan.
@@wadewillson9220 I don't know. There was no guarantee of what powers Ryan had except lazer beams. He had no evidence of what Ryan could and could not do and still threw him off the roof. It could be argued in his research he learnt about Ryan's powers but it clearly messed him up
He was quite hostile to Ryan's mother, and grabbed her to the point of hurting her until Ryan pushed him away. Plus given how Ryan was allegedly conceived I think that doesn't make for a great role model
He has exposed Ryan to a Nazi who kills people she doesnt like without saying much. Not only is that just messed up there is no tellint what she could do to Ryan or to someone in front if him. Given the ending of the season this is unfortunately proven right.
The thing about Ryan being lied to,I kinda get but he went about it a terrible way and nearly ruined his relationship with his mother. It was clear Stormfront didn't want Ryan to know for his own good, it was just to do what she wanted. It should have been broken to him in a better way
Just up and taking Ryan by flight without any discussion and it does impact Ryan. Threatening to kill and hurt people in front of Ryan.
Even ignoring all that, homelander has some major complexes to deal with and it will probably impact how Ryan grows up. Homelander loving his son and being a good influence are not a good thing
That said Butcher would probably mess up Ryan too

@@wadewillson9220 he was physically aggressive to ryans mother in front of him to the point ryan had to push homelander off her, and he stole ryan away from his mother and tried to replace her with a nazi lol. And even though ryan could handle being thrown off a roof (which homelander didn't 100% know), that doesnt make it good parenting to forcefully push him off a roof and potentially traumatise him in order to teach him to fly, in fact its really bad parenting lol.
Antony Starr has really done a great job portraying Homelander. Perfect.

I am really speculating on Homelander's expression after he fantasizes killing that entire crowd.
It's like right on the edge of confusion/worry.
He has all these micro-expressions during certain moments of barbarity and cruelty that suggest there IS humanity in there. I mean, it's rotting and on its way out, but it is interesting.
I wonder if this is deliberate, or Anthony Starr is just a truly great actor.
There is another scene where Stormfront says something blatantly racist and he is kind of taken-aback for a very short moment before brushing it off.
Yeah I noticed that bit, about Homelander realizing they're not 100% on the same page, when stormfront rants away about the great genocide of her race.......lol.

Don't you really how psycho he is? That sad look on psychos after they hurt someone is "Look what you made me do." Homelander LOVES crowds, when they love him. The sadness is his heartbreak because in his mind, they made him laser them by turning on him. He's basically mentally blaming them for pushing him too far. That's what psychos do.

An anti hero doesn't kill innocent people. At least not intentionally.
Remember that one time that Punisher killed an innocent man not knowing he was a police officer, and how bad he felt about that later when he came to know that? That's what an anti hero is like.
But this guy? This guy allows the deaths of innocent people like he doesn't even care.
Also, Punisher kills bad guys almost instantly. He doesn't intentionally make them live through pain. I don't think I have to explain what Homelander did with a woman on season 1.

Honestly the protest scene is exactly what we’ve all been on edge about the whole show. Because the truth is if he REALLY wanted to he could rule the world or destroy it. And NO ONE could stop him. That’s insane power which people don’t usually think about

Homelander is one of the most awesome characters
The fact that he has all the power to rule the entire country in tyranny and chose not to makes him a complex character. I have a theory that there's something keeping these "heroes" in check. Something that yet to come in season 3. I'm expecting some chaos and world war type of problems in the next season.
