Colder fuel is more dense. So you are able to get more fuel into the car before it expands from warming up. love the content all the same, just wanted to point that out.
My college accounting teacher was a retired oil & gas accountant, and he mentioned the companies would report their holdings at certain temperatures due to these changes, as it was such a huge amount on a big scale.
These are always some of my favorite videos because I always get to learn something interesting. I've never actually seen the magnetic sweep person, but now I know it exists, and what a functional task that is because no one wants a nail to the wheel or the foot for that matter.
You should do a behind the scenes / things you didn't know about your operation. How many people do you have back home working / supporting your work on the road, and who puts out the videos? Do you have multiple offices or everything in Perth? We just see you as a one man show until you mention the family & people in the office helping you out.
Number 2 isn’t quiet right Kym, the angle pit entry allows the driver to enter at max speed, this decreasing the time spent in pit lane. If it was parallel to the pit lane, than the turn in would be slowed, losing the driver time. Exit is fine, as they are leaving from zero speed.

RBR still paints their cars. Did you know that the colors differ for when the car is used on a day or night race. It must look the same under all circumstances and over a year they use 4-5 different blues for example. Check it out. 😉
Wow, thanks for this particular video. Such interesting facts! I am a long time fan (been watching for approx 35 years), and did not know a lot of what you mentioned. As always very good work Kym! Thanks. 🤩🇵🇹🇿🇦
Thanks Kym, this was very interesting and inf. We almost always pick up something new from your videos. Honestly, this channel is by far our favorite F1 channel.
Hey Kym, really enjoyed the video like always! Regarding fact I would be really interested to know a bit more about the different types of passes there are in the paddock. From TV we can see the different colors but there is no way to figure out what they mean.
5:07 Bensdorp? I had no idea this brand stil existed. Used to work for them. Dutch people might know them from Bros (now owned by Unilever) That was basically the only thing "I didn't know" in this video lol 5:32 it is around 5 seconds from FIA to Broadcasters, it can be up to 30 seconds depending on your specific broadcaster and location.
#2 is not because of a tradition!! Teams do that because it’s way faster and safer: drivers don’t need to turn in two directions on their way in saving time and possible mistakes, and (as they slide out of the pits) the direction they are pointing doesn’t make that much of a difference on their way out. (This explanation came from a pit crew member!)
Kim, why didn't you ask a team? The slight pit box angle is quicker. They use less steering wheel angle coming in and while under brakes, and kick the tail with a bit of throttle oversteer on exit becasue they're accelerating into the pit limiter anyway. It may only be a fraction of a second gained, but you know how hard they work for each fraction. It also gives a bit of a better angle if there's another car in the previous pit- they're prepared for that block
We pay $3.25-$3.75 per kilo for 1 day immediate intercontinental delivery, and the shipped items sometimes cost as much as F1 cars 😊, but up to 2x heavier. So at $200/kg, someone is definitely optimizing taxes… 😂
4:23. It isn’t just the French; Logan Sargent can’t go to Monaco to hide from taxes either…the dreaded IRS would find your ass on the bottom of the Mariana Trench so don’t even try 😅
I’m only getting old videos which is great to catch up on your trips here and there and also keeps your content flowing ❤️. I’m wondering whether your F1 content however has been limited by the “powers to be”? Sounds like a conspiracy theory by me, sorry about that but it seemed that you regular week to week features stopped at some point. I don’t mind really because your excellent travel blogs are entertaining. I probably will never get to fly business or first class so your content is very enjoyable. Anyway I hope there aren’t ant political things going on in the background and if they were I know you would handle the situation well. Ken
like #351. awesome vid. Have Q; Lewis Hamilton was harshly criticized some years back for having a private jet. there is a YT site that shows (each race) drivers arriving and leaving in their private jets. Q: do the rest of the drivers go on the "team plane" ? of course, right? but what if the team plane leaves days earlier than the drivers have to be at the track (mechanic say Monday, drivers Thursday)?
@@KymIllmanOh come on. 3:43 It’s pretty obvious demonstrating Charles’ frustration with that attempt to double stack and the you cut to a pic of him in the garage.
Interesting as usual. But Kym Illman must be one of the last peeople to still be clinging on to saying 'Pit Lane' as if it's a name. Most people have abandoned this ill-fated attempt to make things sound modern and just say 'the pit lane' as normal.

I figured they must wrap cars now, but what do they keep on hand for a race? How quickly can they change the livery, if needed?
Tommo’s video on the chrome mclaren he sat down with their designer and they ask about that sorta stuff

That's a different issue from the treaty arrangements between Monaco and France on this issue which put Gasly and Ocon in the situation described.
#2 isn't quite right. It's a speed thing. It's easier to stop the car quickly in a straight line.
Some nice intell👍

They release cars into pit lane no matter where others cars are thats why we so many close calls in pit lane
If a driver (Lando) looses their passes multiple time, and get a “special “ alternate picture, who gets to pick the photo?
Does DHL move the cars from race to race as well?
Yes
How many cars each team or driver get every year?
Is #3 the reason why drivers are sometimes unsafely released by teams after pitstop?
