      You must have something different than me. I’m on 12.3.6 and it’s full of flaws and problems. Frequently indecisive at intersections, constantly want to be in the left lane, weird steering at slow speeds, can’t handle construction zones, etc. It’s useful for some circumstances but I’ve never had a drive where I didn’t disengage at least 3 times.

      @stacybehrens7152 wait a second. 1st of all, Praise Lord Elon. Yeah, it does seem the youtube Mustakeers have an agenda, and if your experiences differ from the hype-a-sphere, upu must be short on the stock or you don't know how to drive or use the beta supervised software. My experiences are exactly the same as yours FSD has cut off too many approaching cars while executing lane changes. Tesla vision has problems, and I don't trust it. IM PAYING FOR MY CAR INSURANCE , I HAVENT HAD ANY PHONE CALLS FROM LORD MUSK AND THE MUSKATEERS saying that they'll pay for insurance or any damage incurred while FSD plays "chicken" with guard rails.

    Biggest issues with FSD; wants to go the school zone speed 24/7, doesn’t like crossing the solid white line to get into HOV lane, can’t change route while in FSD. Should allow me to choose which roads to take. It should learn my normal preferred streets on repeated routes.

    I'm sooo glad they are removing the nag. I drove last night from LA to Utah, a 9-hour drive.... and had to endure the "nag" the whole way. It was brutal. And it was really turning me off to Telsa and making me regret that I purchased a Model 3. I turned it off in disgust several times along the way. This is really good news that they will get rid of the "nag."

      With FSD, Tesla gets so much better mapping data than Google has. So, either they have to replace Google, or cooperate with mapping data.
      It's just not their priority yet! Maybe even a diversion!
      I guess Tesla would prefer to let Google keep the mapping business, but sell them the data for it, and get it back as better navigation.
      It's not Tesla's core business. But it's something they need.
      It's an advantage for the society if all car manufacturers can get access to optimal mapping data.
      Tesla doesn't strive for monopolies in these things!
      The same kind of deal with Baidu in China as for Google in the West, I guess.

    • @shannon6876
      @shannon6876 19 дней назад

      Currently the Google maps Tesla uses is so bad that I have to avoid using FSD if I cannot find a suitable route option. It loves to do things like... while I am in the left turn lane at a stop light... decide to route me to turn right, drive half a mile, and then turn around to do the left turn I am going to do because I am in the left turn lane! Sometimes, it will do this and try to route me through closed gates I cannot open to do so. It seems to always be left turns. But where it makes sense to do this, the car will instead try to cross multi-lane highways to the left and spend several minutes waiting, when it could have just turned right and turned around. It also consistently chooses roads that have horrible traffic congestion, while claiming they're faster than routes that consistently save me 10-45 minutes of waiting in traffic going to the exact same destination at the exact same time of day. And it also strongly tends to choose slow, meandering routes that not only have speed limits of 25-35 mph instead of the highway that goes to the same place with much higher speed limits and much more directly, while claiming that it is a faster route! At least half of my disengagements happen because I cannot get it to take a reasonable route, and I have to disengage and then force it to choose a better route by driving the car myself for a time to get to where it can't choose a stupid route. And it also likes to try to crash my car by not changing the speed limits at the right places. On Route 60, the speed limit is 65 mph. But when I turn onto a dirt side road where the speed limit is 35, it tries to accelerate to 65 for several hundred feet until the map updates the speed limit. If I don't stop it, the car will lose traction and slide off the road at those speeds! It does the reverse coming out of a post office parking lot, where the speed limit is 5 mph, and it thinks the 5 mph applies on the main road next to it where the speed limit is 45. That takes hundreds of feet to get fixed unless I take over or rapidly adjust the max speed. I don't know if they licensed the idiot version of Google maps, or what, but for all it's flaws, Google maps never did this dumb shyte for me when I use it on my phone. Fix this, Tesla, and you'll see disengagements drop like a rock!

    2 likely reasons why CyberTruck FSD is late:
    1. Tesla needs more data. The more CT in customer hands the more data they can collect (especially given 4 wheel steering, drive by wire, etc)
    2. Tesla wants to avoid huge headlines of CyberTruck crashing due to FSD... so this with #1 and proper validation might cause Tesla to not push it too quickly
    2.1. With CT going to lots of RUclipsrs it might want to avoid stunts and people doing stupid things with CT and FSD...

      Also the CT can change height quit a bit which I think affects the camera angles. Hence more training needed at different heights.

    • @111ch1a1d111
      @111ch1a1d111 19 дней назад

      CT also has a front camera not seen on other vehicles and has a rear camera that is often unavailable (though FSD with the bed full is probably a testing nightmare).

    • @taylorc2542
      @taylorc2542 19 дней назад

      Those aren't the main reasons. The main reason is that it has a much higher (and more variable) ride height for the cameras. This requires software to calibrate with FSD which was trained with lower cameras.

      Different products in this major way, sure. No doubt. Price means a lot to people for mass adoptions along with charging infrastructure. Between FSD and Tesla getting competitive in pricing, it would seem Tesla would make a massive leap as far as competition at that point.
      I just hope Tesla considers having a bunch of cars available wherever their dealerships are just for the public to have a 1 time FSD experience for 1 hour to go wherever they want to go via voice command. Have people reserve online and drive there to get this experience. They need as much in the public to experience this as possible. I will bet 95% of the public has no idea about this yet and they really, really need to. Lots of stress in daily commutes everyone in major cities and to experience that go away, that is a game changer.Very few have any idea. It is too much like science fiction for them

      Sandy overlooked one very important factor when he stated that the 99.2% up time no longer needed people to maintain it. The 99+% up time of Telsa charging network is the direct result of people assuring proper repair/maintenance/grid connectivity/etc... This level of up time doesn't happen on its own. It requires a team of technicians/monitors/planners/etc... to achieve it. Sandy is wrong on that point, imo.

    I was talking to a neighbor of mine , who also owns a Tesla model Y, and is an enthusiastic EV owner. I asked him about his experience with the free FSD v12.3 subscription that just ended. He told me he did not try it! I asked him why?? He compared it to the negative experiences he had had with Autopilot such as frequent phantom braking, but had not tried FSD, not even once! He didn't know that phantom braking had been eliminated.
    Amazingly, he made this follow up prediction: "In 5-10 years, when we look back on Tesla ambitions to solve autonomous driving in 2024, we will recognize this era as a time of folly and false hope. Because it will never happen! NEVER!"
    I was taken aback by his bold prediction, particularly because he had never been willing to try it for himself.
    For me, his claims were emblematic of the kind of thinking errors that plaque us: "I won't believe it until I can see it, but I won't see it, because I will never believe it!"
    There's a great parable in there somewhere!

    Great. I hope someday, soon, they'll fix the maps, the graphics, make the fonts & symbols larger and not (fing) light gray. Too many times nav has a route that gets off at a different exit. My first indication is after the car starts trying to make inexplicable lane changes. I fight these off, and then the turn off appears on the map.
    It's good to not have to keep the one hand on the wheel, but I wish the cabin camera scold would encompass a larger set of information. I'm doing in puts, trying to figure out some problem with the nav, the silly temperature/fan adjust and it starts scolding me. I'm paying attention.
    Is there a way that cruise control turns off when FSD disengages?
    And how about the first Drive/Reverse select when I get in my Y? It's slap slap slap slap before it finally does something. That thing is going to wear out in 1/4 its expected life. Do something else to convince the car it's not a random input. Why doesn't it realize I'd just entered the Pin Code?

    I saw the question related to "stay in the fast lane". From my experience, my tesla will always stay on the right lane even though It needs to make a left turn on the next upcoming traffic light. I like to know if tesla will be able to improve it by staying in the left lane if it is about to make a left turn soon?

    I'm really curious how this will play out. I mean with NHTSA always on Tesla's back about the frequency of wheel nags, how do they get NHTSA to allow the removal of nags. Do they have to let NHTSA test the car? How the hell does the process of approval work?

    So "hands free" 12.4 doesn't mean do whatever you want behind the wheel... the interior cam is watching for alertness/distraction and so takes over from the steering wheel tug.

    I am using my sons Tesla while he is being deployed, first time driving a Tesla, so far I am not impressed by FSD, cannot drive 9 miles to work without having to disengage at least 2 or 3 times, right turns it has serious problems, it’s like it is trying to get to a turn lane, goes over the fog line and into the shoulder, cannot find the right lane to be in to go straight verses left turn only lanes, it has a lot to learn.

      The steering characteristics of the CT are fundamentally different than the S3XY lineup. It has variable ratio drive-by-wire steering AND 4 wheel steering. It is also significantly heavier than even the Model X, so braking characteristics are also different.

  • @richardgreen8003
    @richardgreen8003 19 дней назад

    FSD 12.3.4 still crosses over turn lanes!!! It will slow down for no reason. It will refuse to maintain a speed I'm setting it to maintain randomly. I can't figure out why. It cuts turn corners to tight and will run over median curbs. That really sucks. It likes to change lanes way too often. It also doesn't change lanes sometimes when it should because of traffic. I drive up to a 1/4 to a 1/2 mile ahead, especially on highways. In town, about 3 blocks for heavy traffic when visually possible. It doesn't often signal to other drivers that it is going to make a turn until the last few seconds. That's a very bad habit. It's also disrespectful to other drivers. Sometimes, it doesn't want to make a lane change that I want because of how traffic works in my area. It simply doesn't understand planning ahead of time based upon pretty consistent traffic patterns. Having said all that, I am fucking impressed as hell about how this level of FSD has developed. I love it and try to use it as much as possible.
    At the rate of improvements we see now, I expect level 3 before September and Level 4 before Thanksgiving. Level 5 will be here in early 2025. This will change the world and all the vehicle manufacturers will be clamoring to get this tech. This will make more money for Tesla than all the car sales they ever do, by far. Tesla Bots will make a shit ton more money than this and energy will in the end make even more money than all the others in my view.

    2016 S and X do not have the internal cameras. They start with X and S refresh in 2021. On Cyber Truck FSD. Elon committed to all the Level 3 owners that FSD will perform perfectly on those cars, and they won't be obsoleted. To that end Elon replied they must perfect FSD for 99% of the fleet. Also, FSD V12 runs in native mode on Level 3 FSD cars keeping with that commitment. He also state that Level 4 FSD cars are running the Level 3 AI software in emulation mode. At some point Tesla will focus on Level 4 FSD for all FSD 4 cars including Cyber Truck which has a unique steering challenge for end-to-end control AI stack. Patience.

    Selling rides is not going to be nearly as profitable as selling cars, since the price of each ride is tiny compared to the price of a car. Tesla’s main revenue still has to come from selling cars, perhaps with FSD built-in. I don’t understand what Elon’s business model with FSD. Few people will be willing to pay $100k for a robotaxi. Most would just learn how to drive with a cheaper car instead.
