1st ever car was a rare HR Premier. 186S, extractors,, discs, 4 speed, LSD, console with tacho, metallic paint, black interior all from factory. I drove it until it fell to bits. Could try to make another.
This is good stuff, I am in USA. I am a gear head, drive a 74 satellite, I rebuilt the 340 in it dynos 425. Then took out 727 auto a shoved in tremec 5 speed, 355 rear. This is a hoot to drive. Mate,I used to love rooting around those big wrecking yards as a kid,all wide eyed and saying "Wow!!" a lot, finding the diamonds amongst the stones..... Kinda makes me sad now though, with Holden and Ford both gone and all those cars,no matter what make or model, have one thing in common- they were all loved by someone at some time.Great to see some of that coming back for a lucky few. Being an 8 pot man,the HJ GTS would have drawn me like a seagull on a chip.
I am loving all these old classics. I have an HJ Premier station wagon 2 tone white roof Claret bodywork, Statesman Caprice front, 308 V8, Turbo 400, air cond, power steering, Electric windows, Lowered by Peter Brock dealer team in 1986. Engine was rebuilt by Larry Perkins racing in 2003, absolutely flies. Love your channel, keep up the good work.........
So good to see such places still exist, my first car, XK Falcon ($200) I had so much fun just going to a wrecker and grabbing Pursuit badges, various dashboards to 'upgrade' to an XL, springs hinges for the hood, even the chrome Falcons hood ornaments etc, all in plentiful supply and going for a few dollars. Such stories are common I imagine, but this reminded me of those times. Thanks for sharing.

Big thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼 to the bloke saving all these old cars on the farm. Takes me back to my youth seeing all these car models in everyday use. Thank you for the video.
My childhood to my youth was in that place from the late 50’s to the early 80’s. I remember when the roads were full of those cars and one day, like everyone else you realise they are all gone. My overall comment has to be (to use current terms with all the modern day Knobs) OMFG! Way too much to choose from, they all need to be saved/salvaged. Really enjoyed this, thank you.
Bloody beauty, mate! It's fantastic that you tripped over that place before it all disappeared like so many of them have. I saw an Austin A50 and a Mitsubishi Sapporo - both of which I've owned before and loved them for different reasons and you just don't see many on the road or in junkyards even any more. A few old Commys that are just starting to become sought after too - again, most of which I have owned over the years, so great for nostalgia. Like you, I'm like a pig in mud when walking around similar yards because I see models I've owned or always wanted to own and every car is a potential project until I start looking at them with my second self's practical eye and built-in calculator. That green EK - mate, what a find! She's another beaut, that one. Looks to be mostly maintenance (hydraulics and other items you'd usually go through on a rebuild anyway under the bonnet) and interior trim that needs the hard yards and that HQ wagon is a diamond in the rough, but strong bones by the looks - another great score. Over here in Kiwiland, all the yards with old stuff have gone except the more rural or famous ones like Horopito Motors (of Smash Palace fame) and in the main cities there's nothing except modern yards that won't sell you a whole car because they make too much off selling the individual pieces. There was a late model Triumph 2500S and a 79 Mini that appeared recently in one - both in good enough nick to be put back on the road with little work - that got stripped bare and eventually crushed. Now THAT'S a total waste.....although I suppose the parts went to help restore others or keep them on the road, so maybe not so much total as just a waste of good classics. To find old metal like Holden, Ford or Chrysler, you got to go out of the main centres though and it's mostly people who have collected or hoarded them over the years that have them in private "collections" in rural yards and so only word of mouth (sometimes by talking to locals) that you hear about them actually being there. Glad you showed us though and will look forward to seeing them come good as you get the time to bring 'em back. On the weather - yeah, loving this summer of warm rain. All it does is make the grass grow longer and the humidity hit in the high 90s. Just what you need for working outside with a welder, eh..... All the best.
The Mitsubishis' parked back to back? Known as the Sigma Scorpion in Australia. A reminder of how so many of 1980's cars, which are not that long ago, have vanished from the roads.
Just discovered your show today.I'm in my mid 60's now and back in the day those HQ'S etc were just cheap second hand cars. I wish i had kept them all. I'd be rich!
It does not matter if it is here in the States, or where you are in Australia, if you are a car guy, its fun to go through a wrecking yard to see what treasures they hold. In one of the scenes you caught was a 1962 Ford Galaxie convert. Wowsers! I love '62, '63, and '64 Galaxies. It looks like you have picked up some good cars to work with. Maybe you and your family need to go on holiday more often! Great work on the videos. Keep them coming.
OMG a little Morris WTF that was the first car I ever owned. 1951 two door and had the indicators on the side just behind the doors. If anything, I would love to see that rescued and back on the road. I love my Valiants, I've owned both Holden and Fords but more into my Fords now. Love ya work mate, bring them all back to life.
the EK brings back memories I'm 54 and the first car I remember my dad having was a dark blue white roof EK sedan hydramatic then traded for a HQ wagon column auto 202 kingwood in GOLD
So many ! I watched the footage as I was putting it together and was still seeing stuff I missed . Just too much to take in. I should have been writing a list 🍺🍺👍
Loved this ep. Would have loved to see more of the LX Torana V8 hatch (used to own one) and the GTS Monaro (wish I did own one). Lots of lovely metal and memories. Thanks for your great work, love the channel.
Omg what a gold field you found, wish i stumbled across it before it got moved. I would love to have gotten my hands on any of these old classics to throw my boredom and lot of spare time into getting back on the road. Just found your channel today and glad i did, your doing justice to these relics. Look forward to watching all your previous vids and upcoming ones.
Cheers Chris , mate if ya bored and have spare time tell me what model ya want to work with I’ll grab 1 for ya next time I’m there I can’t save them all by myself hahaha.🍺🍺👍
@Backshed o could imagine theh were, it's a shame they weren't saved before they got so bad. I would be happy with any good old Holden that's not to rough and could be used as my daily driver, you got a bargain with your hq wagon from what I seen you paid for it, well if you do ever find a good one please let me know mate,, keep up the great work with all your posts and builds 👍🍺🚘
Dare I say it, I owned the AP5, VC, VE, VF, VG, VH, VJ, CL & CM Chrysler sedans, hardtops and Chargers in the first half of my life. Even the Morris 1100. I forget how many there were until I saw this vid. If l had a shed like this guy, l would probably still own them all. Only farmers and factories had big sheds back in the day.
Great vid! Nice to see old cars still out there. The one that caught my eye was the silver mink HK Prem in the corner of the shed. I’ve got a soft spot for the EK too. 👍
Had a '74 HQ, went from 253 Trimatic to 307 Powerglide to 307 Saginaw to 350 Saginaw to 350 Turbo 400. I remember '74 was the first year of the ADR regulations, the '74 HQ had amber front parking lights. Wish I still had it.
I'm mostly a Holden guy. HZ 308Ute for 22 years til I sold it in error back in 09. VE SS Redine utes since then. Love the old 60s Falcon ute you chose in your video. A beautiful thing. That'll be a great restoration.
OMG! the 2 door Morry, if the FC wagon had a solid floor I think it had potential, all the H series Holdens, the HG vans, I wouldn't have left town without buying something either!
That EK has a correct front grill and bumper. All that is missing is the bonnet bar (that will be the cast aluminium/chromed version that has a sharp point with emblem not the blunt all chrome one). I have owned many EK's right up to 2 years ago and am looking forward to seeing your build on this one. Cheers, Scotty.
Yeah mate I’ve been told in the comments I got my front’s around the wrong way Hahhaha I’ve got too many to be an expert on any 1 model. Ek won’t be far away mate so stick around. Cheers for watching 🍺🍺👍

Awesome find guess you are not telling where this gem of a place is : ) I remember climbing out the dog box of mums EJ wagon and hanging on the tailgate surfing... blokes like you that keep the Aussie built cars through restoring and keeping the childhood memories of a generation that grew up in them

My favorite is the XB but you big block Holden is very cool. Never thought I would like a four door car but I’m leaning. Thanks for sharing. Big fan

valiant 60s 70s pick ups were the work horses in south africa and Rhodesia. few barracudas were around .1970s TRAX car factory made jeeps 4x2 and used valiant engines gear boxes front suspension and rear axles imported new from oz .
Nice find Bro some ol gems there they were the days I remember finding dumped HD's on the side of the road wack some petrol in and off ya go , No one wanted them back then , Couldn't give them away
Loved this video, these old school yards are the best. Got to enjoy these sort of places while they still exist. Out of everything in the video, while my first thought was the yellow XB, the one car I'd want to save most is the green XF Van on the old school Simmons V5's at the 16:30 mark in the background.
I wish I'd known about this place sooner, my parents live in the town and I live an hour up the road. Apparently he's closing up at Christmas time. I'd love to get hold of one of those Valiants.
Now that's my idea of a holiday and my kind of amusement park. No idea how you managed to narrow your selection down I'd still be there trying to decide I reckon. Love the channel and hanging to see the build vides
I like the yellow Chrysler with the mags on it. They were a good car. Good transmissions diffs and motors. Sad to see all the old cars deteriorating in the yard. He could make this a museum, I'd love to walk around that yard. New owners though, I hope they don't trash them.
Wow, what a great collection of old iron, you rarely find a wreckers these days that have old cars let alone that many & variety. Still a lot of good parts to be had there. Good video mate, look forward to seeing what Valiant you bought
Our family had a HQ, 202 in a burnished copper type of colour. We used it for everything, but what makes me wince now is that we used to back the boat into the saltwater. Hosed it out when we got home, but you never really get it all. Car is long gone, replaced with a short wheel based patrol, but I doubt its still around. Would have dissolved by now.
Best vid you’ve done yet mate❤ and I try not to miss an episode as they’re all rippers. As a few others have said it’s great to get a look around from inside the fence, and so much coolness in one place. Keep doing what you’re doing mate it’s fantastic, and even the sneaky trailer Reno was sweet. Cheers and merry Xmas
Thanks mate I appreciate it , and yeah I threw in the sneaky trailer Reno so you could jump up an grab another beer without missing any cars Hahhaha 🍺🍺👍
Good to see some people keeping, saving & restoring these Old Girls- many people would make a quick buck off the scrap, or charge 40k for a bare, non rolling shell thst needs a crapton of wprk
Real treasure , not a lot of yards like that around anymore, the mokes are worth big $$ too , would have liked to see the Ford utes , xb xc xd xe , cheers mate 👍 love the Falcon Ute you got , always wanted an xm one with xr6 motor
Wow what an amazing find, how did do much of Australian history and millions of dollars of it all end up on a farm, he must of been collecting it for year and years, it was like a funeral when you were walking through them all with the music 😂😂, I had to keep going back and looking at them because I couldn’t believe my eyes, and your spot on there was parts on every car like you said even the trims, great video I’ll show my mate he will lose his mind seeing all these cars, liked & subbed cheers mate
Yeah mate I hope the music in that bit reflected how I felt , sad as crap but in a way hopeful because they aren’t going to get crushed or anything. 🍺🍺👍

That Torana up in the shed that's a gem but couldn't afford that either ! Would love to dig through that yard before they go to the farm..
I'm a Holden guy but I think I'd like that XL/XM? Ute - it looks manageable as a project and I'd prob leave it as a six and go back to a bench seat ..
If I could have one of them, It would be the Datto 1200 ute. Why? Stupid rare. I'm a Holden boy. Fricken loved this. I want all of them!

Loved this episode Mick, I hope to see another video of the remaining cars at the farm one day!
Yep I’ll keep you posted mate
🍺🍺👍
Watching your video brought back lots of memories, cause I did own quite a few of them during 70's and 80's.Thank You
Ya most welcome mate and thanks for watching
Cheers 🍺🍺👍
It does not matter if it is here in the States, or where you are in Australia, if you are a car guy, its fun to go through a wrecking yard to see what treasures they hold. In one of the scenes you caught was a 1962 Ford Galaxie convert. Wowsers! I love '62, '63, and '64 Galaxies. It looks like you have picked up some good cars to work with. Maybe you and your family need to go on holiday more often! Great work on the videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks Kim I appreciate ya saying mate
🍺👍
OMG a little Morris WTF that was the first car I ever owned. 1951 two door and had the indicators on the side just behind the doors. If anything, I would love to see that rescued and back on the road. I love my Valiants, I've owned both Holden and Fords but more into my Fords now. Love ya work mate, bring them all back to life.
I’ve asked the question about $ on the Morris ya never know what I’ll end up with.
🍺👍
the EK brings back memories I'm 54 and the first car I remember my dad having was a dark blue white roof EK sedan hydramatic then traded for a HQ wagon column auto 202 kingwood in GOLD
Full episodes of the Ek and the wagon soon
🍺🍺👍
Great Show...Thanks for doing it
My pleasure mate I loved it
Cheers Shane
🍺🍺👍
Really good to see that you're putting some of these old classics back on the road, good luck mate 👍
Cheers John
🍺🍺👍
That was a like a replay of my adolescence!

🍺🍺👍
Made it to the end! Yeah loved every second, so many sweet cars in there! was naming the models & varients along the way. Cheers for a great video!
So many ! I watched the footage as I was putting it together and was still seeing stuff I missed . Just too much to take in.
I should have been writing a list
🍺🍺👍
Loved this ep. Would have loved to see more of the LX Torana V8 hatch (used to own one) and the GTS Monaro (wish I did own one). Lots of lovely metal and memories. Thanks for your great work, love the channel.
Thanks Murray I appreciate it mate
🍺🍺👍
Omg what a gold field you found, wish i stumbled across it before it got moved. I would love to have gotten my hands on any of these old classics to throw my boredom and lot of spare time into getting back on the road. Just found your channel today and glad i did, your doing justice to these relics. Look forward to watching all your previous vids and upcoming ones.
Cheers Chris , mate if ya bored and have spare time tell me what model ya want to work with I’ll grab 1 for ya next time I’m there I can’t save them all by myself hahaha.🍺🍺👍
@Backshed your a legend mate, I would love to get a hold of a eh wagon or eh sedan. It would be awesome
There was a few EH ‘s out there but some were pretty bad . 🍺🍺👍
Amen !
Cheers for watching Luke
🍺🍺👍
Great vid! Nice to see old cars still out there. The one that caught my eye was the silver mink HK Prem in the corner of the shed. I’ve got a soft spot for the EK too. 👍
Me too mate haha
Stick around the Ek is up soon
Cheers 🍺👍
OMG, DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN, I LOVE THESE CARS MAN & HAD SO MANY OF THEM.
That’s how I felt out there ! Cheers for watching mate
🍺🍺👍
amazing! love the wee falcon ute!!! I had a gold 74 HQ wagon that i rebuilt in the mid 90s! Loved that car! 👍🏼
Cheers for watching Milo
🍺🍺👍
Awesome, love to see some old Val’s there. I need another one I think 😊
Hahah
We could do a 318 or 360ci swap in your Ute ! Hahah
🍺🍺👍
Agreed Mick, in the Falcon Ute chuck a 302 Windsor, C4 and you probably have a spare 9 inch from one of your F Trucks. Then have some fun with it..
You never know what might come of it mate.
🍺🍺👍
Had a '74 HQ, went from 253 Trimatic to 307 Powerglide to 307 Saginaw to 350 Saginaw to 350 Turbo 400. I remember '74 was the first year of the ADR regulations, the '74 HQ had amber front parking lights. Wish I still had it.
Hahah sounds familiar mate , more power! Haha
Cheers for watching mate
🍺🍺👍
Love the channel mate!
I would be overwhelmed at that yard.
Can't wait to see more!
It was mate I reckon you could walk around all day and still miss stuff
🍺🍺👍
I'm mostly a Holden guy. HZ 308Ute for 22 years til I sold it in error back in 09. VE SS Redine utes since then.
Love the old 60s Falcon ute you chose in your video. A beautiful thing. That'll be a great restoration.
Cheers mate
🍺🍺👍
That was awesome what a gold mine find
Cheers Dwayne

🍺🍺👍

Cheers Darren
New one up soon mate.
🍺🍺👍
Brilliant Mick. Saw heaps that reminded me of my childhood including my first car, a bloody HR. Thanks mate.
Great car mate
🍺🍺👍
Cheers for watching
OMG! the 2 door Morry, if the FC wagon had a solid floor I think it had potential, all the H series Holdens, the HG vans, I wouldn't have left town without buying something either!
Have 4 from there in total at the minute but going back soon
🍺🍺👍
That EK has a correct front grill and bumper.
All that is missing is the bonnet bar (that will be the cast aluminium/chromed version that has a sharp point with emblem not the blunt all chrome one).
I have owned many EK's right up to 2 years ago and am looking forward to seeing your build on this one.
Cheers, Scotty.
Yeah mate I’ve been told in the comments I got my front’s around the wrong way Hahhaha I’ve got too many to be an expert on any 1 model. Ek won’t be far away mate so stick around.
Cheers for watching
🍺🍺👍
Just found this channel and I'ma about to binge it 🤣 pity this wrecker closed up shop. I spotted a red GT4 in the video that I wouldn't mind having a closer look at.
🍺🍺👍
Yet again Mick you have us glued to our screens! I'm so glad you shared the footage from that wreckers yard. So many potential projects of awesome Australian cars, loved it. Looking forward to your next instalment. 🍺
Cheers mate
Another coming soon
🍺🍺👍
Geez hearing that 202 starter motor and (briefly) engine brought back so many memories. Seems like yesterday I used to set my timing by ear😁. Cannot believe you don't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
Hopefully 1 day mate but we are only pretty new to all this and it’s growing. 🍺🍺👍
The EK has wider Blinkers than the FB. Like your show, and all the gear there. good stuff.
@@SimonManning-z5c cheers mate 🍺🍺👍
Holy crap... that EK. I would nab that EK in a heartbeat!
🍺🍺👍
Well done Mick, can't wait to see the little falcon ute
I’ll get back out there to grab it as soon as I can
Thanks for watching mate
🍺👍
Awesome find guess you are not telling where this gem of a place is : ) I remember climbing out the dog box of mums EJ wagon and hanging on the tailgate surfing... blokes like you that keep the Aussie built cars through restoring and keeping the childhood memories of a generation that grew up in them
Cheers for watching mate
Even if I did say where it was mate it’s all now been moved out to a farm. The sheds were sold and the owner was retiring.
🍺🍺👍
Great find Mick. I've owned 16 HQ's over the years. Used to pay $100 for a complete running wagon just to get a diff... Very jealous of your find...🍻🍻
I hear ya mate back when they were worth nothing hahah
🍺🍺👍
Oh I saw ZL Fairlane one of my favourites!
🍺🍺👍
I love old Australian cars. The style and body lines are beautiful. I really enjoy all your videos. I find myself learning about your countries automobile history. My favorite is the XB but you big block Holden is very cool. Never thought I would like a four door car but I’m leaning. Thanks for sharing. Big fan
No mate thank you .👍👍🍺🍺
I remember that Ford XC Xb in the days unregistered 500 how I wish I kept them. I just got looking at your channel didn't get RUclips alert anyway brother love stuff. Bring the Cortana
Cheers Trent
🍺🍺👍
valiant 60s 70s pick ups were the work horses in south africa and Rhodesia. few barracudas were around .1970s TRAX car factory made jeeps 4x2 and used valiant engines gear boxes front suspension and rear axles imported new from oz .
@@janviljoen-rm8zs 🍺👍
Nice find Bro some ol gems there they were the days
I remember finding dumped HD's on the side of the road wack some petrol in and off ya go , No one wanted them back then , Couldn't give them away
Yep I hear ya mate
If only we knew
🍺🍺👍
Loved this video, these old school yards are the best. Got to enjoy these sort of places while they still exist. Out of everything in the video, while my first thought was the yellow XB, the one car I'd want to save most is the green XF Van on the old school Simmons V5's at the 16:30 mark in the background.
👍yeah I hear ya mate it was pretty rust free
Cheers for watching mate
🍺🍺👍
Love it my kind of wrecking yard full of classics, yep that xl ute for sure, that EK in way better condition than the one I had 40 years ago
Hahah yep she’s pretty clean mate
🍺🍺👍
chaa nice the holdens pitty its not here in New Zealand thank you for that enjoyed the touring roun 👍👍👍
Cheers for watching mate
🍺🍺👍
I wish I'd known about this place sooner, my parents live in the town and I live an hour up the road. Apparently he's closing up at Christmas time.
I'd love to get hold of one of those Valiants.
🍺🍺👍
Now that's my idea of a holiday and my kind of amusement park. No idea how you managed to narrow your selection down I'd still be there trying to decide I reckon. Love the channel and hanging to see the build vides
Yeah there’s too much really .
Not everything was for sale inside though and some of what was is big $$
🍺🍺👍 thanks for watching mate
Ej wagon looks like it had the remnants of a flashing kit sold by the dealers back in the day. Pretty pricey nowadays! Great video mate!
Cheers mate I’ll look at the chrome next time I’m there , there really was too much to take in .
🍺🍺👍
I like the look of the rolla
Me too
🍺🍺👍
Friday night, fridge full of beers and a fresh Backshed Vid!?
Christmas came early this year
Welcome back polarbear
🍺🍺👍
Some cool clean shells there wish I was closer

🍺👍👍
Brilliant episode mate. I enjoyed it, I’m really looking forward to seeing what you do with that falcon Ute 👍🏼
Cheers mate
Thanks for watching
🍺🍺👍
I like the yellow Chrysler with the mags on it. They were a good car. Good transmissions diffs and motors. Sad to see all the old cars deteriorating in the yard. He could make this a museum, I'd love to walk around that yard. New owners though, I hope they don't trash them.
🍺🍺👍
My Dad would have got excited if he saw that Humber. Can't wait to see what you do with the EK though.
Cheers mate
Thanks for watching
🍺👍
Amazing photo, you did an awesome job on your trailer

Wow, what a great collection of old iron, you rarely find a wreckers these days that have old cars let alone that many & variety. Still a lot of good parts to be had there. Good video mate, look forward to seeing what Valiant you bought
Cheers for watching mate
🍺🍺👍
Awesome video brother keep up the great work saving one at a time
Thanks mate I’ll keep at it
🍺🍺👍
Our family had a HQ, 202 in a burnished copper type of colour. We used it for everything, but what makes me wince now is that we used to back the boat into the saltwater. Hosed it out when we got home, but you never really get it all. Car is long gone, replaced with a short wheel based patrol, but I doubt its still around. Would have dissolved by now.
Hahaha yep probably mate.
🍺🍺👍
Best vid you’ve done yet mate❤ and I try not to miss an episode as they’re all rippers. As a few others have said it’s great to get a look around from inside the fence, and so much coolness in one place. Keep doing what you’re doing mate it’s fantastic, and even the sneaky trailer Reno was sweet. Cheers and merry Xmas
Thanks mate I appreciate it , and yeah I threw in the sneaky trailer Reno so you could jump up an grab another beer without missing any cars Hahhaha
🍺🍺👍
Good to see some people keeping, saving & restoring these Old Girls- many people would make a quick buck off the scrap, or charge 40k for a bare, non rolling shell thst needs a crapton of wprk
I’ve got my work cut out for the next months mate hahah, I’ll grab another each time I go back I reckon.
🍺🍺👍
Real treasure , not a lot of yards like that around anymore, the mokes are worth big $$ too , would have liked to see the Ford utes , xb xc xd xe , cheers mate 👍 love the Falcon Ute you got , always wanted an xm one with xr6 motor
I bought that little blue Ute and you never know what we will end up doing mate.
🍺🍺👍
This is the best channel ever mate. Love it. Thank you
Too kind mate
Cheers 🍺🍺👍
Righto, that XL ute is Falcon alsome. I'm eager to see what you come up with next. The trailer job came up well very handy thing. Cheers
🍺👍
@@backshed5295 half modern 5.0ltr windsor and auto in the XL duty ute i reckon. That's my pick. The HQ wags is very cool too, good score.
I loved every second of it too! 👍🍻
I’m glad Kev
Cheers mate
🍺🍺👍
🍺🍺👍
I used to own a 72 hq wagon wasn’t fast but I loved that car
Easy to fall in love with a HQ mate 👍👍🍺
I'm jealous. I'm looking for an HQ wag myself. Love your show Mick👍
Cheer mate , yeah I was lucky to see it and stop for a chat. It just went from there Hahahha
.stick around mate there’s heaps coming and please share the video.
Very interesting. Love the XL ute. I have a green wagon.
I had a sedan as a paddock bashed when I was about 13-14 I’ve always love the dash on them so yeah I’m pretty glad to grab that one.
@@backshed5295 me too. Mine was a blue manual XL wagon. Paddock basher. Wish I still had it.
