- Humans shared the planet with some of the most spectacular creatures to ever walk the land.
"Straight tusked elephants" dominated the grasslands and forests across Asia and Europe.
Palaeoloxodon namadicus was the largest subspecies, and possibly the largest terrestrial mammal in the history of Earth.

Seeing such a massive creature must have been a sight to see for the people who have arrived in India 65 thousand years ago.
In a way, this was the most imposing terrestrial creature to ever walk the Earth..some species of sauropods were much bigger, but they were probably much slower and wouldn't present a danger to humans.
@@creativeearthian1702 I wouldn't necessary say that considering that their tails gave them an incredibly dangerous striking range and they can kick an elephant to death. Not to mention, they can pick up a human being and drop them from an incredibly high height.
@@SharksandDinos true. I guess my comment was based on the assumption that they were very timid creatures, as they were typically portrayed as such (Jurassic park Brachiosaurus for example).
But you're right..it's just an assumption.
@@creativeearthian1702 but still the speed of the sauropods was about 8 to 10 km/h, while the paleoloxodon is very similar to the modern elephant in anatomy, so its speed was probably at least 25 to 30 km/h, being more dangerous to us.
I'd have arrived in India, saw this, and went right back to wherever I'd come from. An absolutely terrifying creature. Sure they were probably docile like today's Elephants but 1 stampede would level a city. Fck that. My insurance doesn't cover acts of God-sized creatures. 🤣
I hope that creature alive again
He's like a mumakil (oliphant)
Nice reference, it would indeed be an oliphant.
So in ancient times we had small oliphants casually strolling around causing micro earthquakes when they ran-
I always forget just how big Paleoloxodon namadicus is, and just elephants in general. I really would hope to see one alive, and up close one day.
A female elephant about 10,000 lbs and 9 ft at the shoulder was toying with one of the biggest and strongest men on Earth, Braun Strowman like he was a bath sponge.
Nature humbles man
@@zombiefulci3301
A rhino less than half the size of that female elephant would toy with the strongest man like a bath sponge. Even a grizzly bear a 1/3 the size of that rhino would toy with the strongest man like a bath sponge 😂
Humans are weak compared to most animals in nature no winder @beastinfection638
Just want to see one for real 🥺
Genial!! 🔥🔥
I think paraceratherium bigger than Palaeoloxodan
About this elephant could it reach a 5 to 5.2m at the shoulder if yeah it would 20 to 22 tons in weight if the elephant is not taller than 4m so we talk about 10 to 12 tons Soo paraceratherium is larger
@Mapusaurus ( Argentine) What are the recent estimates for Paraceratherium's mass?
@seadoggo456 then give link no link😂😂😂😂
Can send the link?

how big is that woman? Average short american or average tall dutchman?
She's 1.77m. Height of an average man
Enormous ⚡🔥💚
2nd LARGEST MAMMAL EVER
Land mammal..and maybe even the biggest one
Bigger than a t rex
This elephant lived in india and first skeleton found in india if anyone want to see that come to indian museum 😊
Must be size with Paraceratherium
Except, the Indian Straight-Tusked Elephant (Palaeoloxodon namadicus) is not officially the largest elephant, largest proboscidean, or largest land animal that ever lived as the Steppe Mammoth (Mammuthus trogontherii), Deinotherium giganteum, and Paraceratherium bugtiense are all most likely considered larger, thus making Paraceratherium bugtiense the largest land animal that ever lived, Deinotherium giganteum the largest proboscidean that ever lived, and the steppe mammoth (Mammuthus trogontherii) the largest elephant that ever lived
It's not officially, as there is a lack of conclusive data of course.
But it is the likeliest candidate for the largest elephant considering the average size of femur bones with any other species, including the steppe mammoth
@creativeearthian1702, it's still currently debatable because the Steppe Mammoth (Mammuthus trogontherii), Deinotherium giganteum, and Paraceratherium bugtiense might actually all technically be larger than the Indian Straight-Tusked Elephant (Palaeoloxodon namadicus), which would end up making the Steppe Mammoth (Mammuthus trogontherii) the largest elephant that ever lived in addition to Deinotherium giganteum being the largest proboscidean that ever lived and Paraceratherium bugtiense the largest land mammal that ever lived, thus ending up making the Indian Straight-Tusked Elephant (Palaeoloxodon namadicus) the second largest elephant that ever lived, the third largest proboscidean that ever lived, and the fourth largest land mammal that ever lived.
This explains why the door of forts are so bigger. The reason must be that these elephants can enter & go as they were used as a means of transport back then
No..they did live at the time the first homo sapiens humans arrived in middle east but that was tens of thousands of years ago.
Those people were tribal hunter gatherers
Imma play funki town over this
And people are in awe of Andre the Giant 😂😂
Hey that me
Haha, yeah I hope I did you good

that's an extreme exaggeration but ok
What is?
You can literally see the meter scale measurements near the end of the video.
