The Menendez brothers were exacting revenge, not based on an assumption, but the fact that it was a choice, and not the only one they haf... I do not think the parents were saints... They should have been punished if they abused their children or any person, especially minors, and to that point, I think sexual abuse of another should result in life-in-prison with actual evidence (not circumstantial), while child abuse should get the death penalty. However, the fact that given the choice to leave or kill their parents, they chose to kill them, tells us that they are just as mentally sick as their parents, but in a different way...
I would also point out that the same person who can commit pre-meditated murder as they did, could also have sent the letter to the cousin to create justifiable cause in a self-defense case... It would seem odd for someone, especially a person in their late teens to want to openly confess sexual abuse by their parents. There is a non-zero chance there was no abuse, and they were hoping people thought it was a home invasion, so they could inherit the wealth of their parents. I have seen the way deviants act up close, and the level of complexity with which they will go to orchestrate their evil acts is truly mind-blowing.
In reality, there's no evidence to the allegations of sexual abuse of a minor, merely heresay in the form of correspondence and testimony... There were no videos or physical evidence, and as the parents were both dead, they could not speak to the allegations... People that jump to conclusions or follow the narrative without reasonable doubt about the validity of the Menendez borthers claiming sexual abuse at the hands of their parents should review the case with fresh eyes, and also separate the potential for them to have been abused with the acts they committed as grown men. The case should be reviewed again, but only to ensure a fair trial, not to question their guilt...

Of course it's a great precedent. I'm sure this DA and also the Menendez brothers will make sure to bring attention to those cases. Things happen for a reason.

What the hell are you trying to say? If it is what I think it is,I don't agree with you. There was evidence the second judge did not allow. They did NOT have a fair trial. This, along with other victims that came forward and so much more, it's obvious these "parents"were sick disgusting people. I say they effed around and found out.

@@jomas1676 I think you are confusing two totally different things... There's guilt and innocence vs extenuating circumstances... Here's where all of that falls apart... They were both adults when they killed their parents... Not little kids... At 18 and 21 years old, they could've moved away... They were guilty, that's not up for debate... They could've moved away, that's not up for debate... The only question relating to their case was procedural, and the hung jury was the result of the jury feeling pity for the brothers alleged victimhood, not because they were actually innocent. I would also argue that the way the news reported on the parents as these monsters who sexually abused their children based on a letter sent to a cousin and other hearsay, while lacking physical evidence, probably tainted the case more than any procedural mistakes made at the time...
