I can't believe your view on the precious metals. I've struggled to find people that think like you when it comes to them. All the old collectors of numismatics and even jewlers i come about don't know anything about the metals they work with, espessially in Norway, Jewlers sell things to the highest price possibe with as low purity as possible that they can call gold or silver.

Jewels and precious metals have a lot of intrinsic value imo. Rubies and sapphires can be used to conduct light in very complicated machines, and gold is useful in many ways. Yeah there's a lot still in the ground, but like max said if we had to price everything based on an actual standard then those precious materials would be worth way more.
Wrong, they would be worth a lot less. Just look up how not rare diamonds actually are and how the prices are inflated because a certain group of people hold onto all of the market. Watch gold rush, they follow about 10 to 15 teams depending on which version of the show you watch and these guys are pulling up 5000 ounces of gold a season. Some less, some more but there are 1000s maybe 10s of 1000s of galleys and ships laying at the bottom of the oceans and seas with endless loads of gems and precious metals. It's overvalued because look at how much random $30k pieces he has that he just has laying around willy nilly. He's making a killing plus not that worried about having his stuff securely vaulted. He's got millions and millions worth of pieces just laying in every random room and he's just one of 1000s.
