  • Today we were graciously invited behind-the-scenes for a special tour of MToxins, a brand spankin' new venom lab in Wisconsin! This place really does it all, from snakes to scorpions to gila monsters! Watch and learn about the extraction process, venom production, and more in this special video!
Does anyone else just feel terrible for the copperhead with a deformed head due to her botched "venom removal" surgery? The poor thing! She certainly pulled at our heart strings!
Learn more about MToxins at www.mtoxins.com/
Follow them on Facebook at / mtoxins
And don't miss seeing them in person when they open to the public this May! :D

Bevan Darke I don't know if you have heard the phrase "how the sausage gets made", but most things we enjoy in life have a not-so-pleasant aspect to their production, anti-venom included. This facility looked about as ethical as it possibly can be.
The horses injected with venom would probably prefer not to be, but I am comfortable with that knowing how many lives are saved after their temporary discomfort. I guess some people are just too sensitive to see "how the sausage gets made". Unless of course you think we shouldn't produce anti-venom? Or really any medical treatments, which have to go through animal trials to be approved for human use.

Also compare raising a sheep or cow to this is dumb livestock is killed for meat in the first 12 to 24 months sometime sooner these snakes live this way all day everyday for decades the least the could do is rotate them so for 1 year that use these snakes and the other group get to live in nice encloses and then swap them with the ones that where being used to milk

Considering this is basically a medical manufacturing facility (of antivenin), the snakes are all being treated with respect and care and are healthy. And that’s all we can ask for in these kinds of reptile care scenarios. That everyone and everything is as safe and healthy as it can be.

They seemed more than happy to answer every question you have in a lot of detail, whilst also making whatever it is sound extremely interesting - even down to explaining how the barcodes on their enclosures work. Not to mention the fact that they clearly care about the welfare of the animals - they do as much as they can to reduce stress and keep their animals happy, and I really love how they use rescue animals too. @@littlemisswolfee1095 I feel the same way. I have rescue cats and two of them had previous owners that declawed them. One with all four of her paws and the other only his front paws, and both of their previous owners abandoned them and threw them outside with no way to defend themselves.
If people who want animals don't want all the "inconveniences" of said animal then they have no place in getting a pet at all.

Little Miss Wolfee Yeah, I really hate how the majority of dogs have no tail. I absolutely love when I see a dog with a tail

@@mason3461 I hate when I see people that have puppies with clipped ears and docked tails. It's just horrible to mutilate such a young animal for no medical reason.

It was really interesting to hear about how the non-specific antivenom was made in particular, but absolutely everything about this video was fascinating! Even though I could only listen to the spider part, because I'm terrified of spiders (fine with scorpions, just not spiders) its still really interesting to hear about them using 'non-dangerous' venom to study for potential beneficial attributes! Also I totally didn't know horses were involved in making antivenom! That's so cool!

I’m such a dumbass, when he said they knock out the tarantula, I thought they would take it and bang it’s head against the table. Lol, I’m so glad it’s just gas 😂 I love tarantulas

I love this video so much...
Nate's reaction to the bird eater was endearing as hell... and very relateable. "They are mean... and fast!"
And then the cobra just... Watching you guys like "Alright. Alright. WHO'S PINNING ME THIS TIME?!"

This is really neat I knew how venom was extracted but actually seeing how well they care for the creatures they take venom from is neat

That poor Copperhead, I'm so glad she's in better care. How could somebody be so evil to an animal? She deserves all the good treatment she gets!!
