The complete 225th anniversary re-enactment of America's momentous 1781 Revolutionary War victory at Yorktown, Virginia. The four-day commemorative event was held October 19-22, 2006 - with many of the events staged on the original field.
Four different battle re-enactments feature re-enactors from around the world portraying Continental Soldiers, American Militia and Riflemen, German Hessians, British Regulars, the French Army in America as well as cavalry, artillery, camps, 18th century women and sutlers. Our cameras were "embedded" with these soldiers on the field of battle and in their camps, carrying the viewer on this journey to final victory in the American Revolution.
For the first time in 225 years, and within days of the actual anniversary of the formal British surrender, nearly 2,000 re-enactors met on the original, hollowed "Surrender Field" to commemorate the British defeat to the allied American and French forces led by General George Washington. Never since 1781 had this event been re-staged so authentically. An unprecedented document of a justly honored battle for American Independence.
Bringing to life with vivid recreations, sound and editing -- focused living history documentaries on Rev War battles -- as well as some of the men who led and those who followed and fought with heroism and without regard for themselves - fighting for family, home… love of country and the men standing in line next to them.

A film usually has dialogue or at least a narration, this is a well shot reenactment. With neither of the aforementioned details.

At that point the Brits were fighting as light-infantry. They marched at a faster pace and had ditched the shoulder to shoulder marching, having at least 18 inches between each soldier. They closed with the enemy as fast as they could, fired a single volley at 30 yards and charged....

    Benjamin Franklin invented the
First pair of bifocals. He made
Some great glasses and frames . We where lucky to have him even though he was a Romeo.

Not sure I want to watch this when the second set of introductions spells General Greene’s name wrong.

Battlefield tactics used back then were absolutely ridiculous! Maybe they should have learned duck and cover and flanking and sniper techniques.

Sorry but this is one of the worst treatments I have ever seen on this subject. Masses of people marching, firing, and no one drops as a result. A few "dead" bodies but a few move slightly or more. In a surrender, the Losers would not have been allowed to have their flags unfurled nor would fixed bayonets have been allowed. There is very little dialog to go with the movie and some of the written matter doesn't correspond with the action, such as it was.

The Firdt Rhode Island, the African American regiment, participated. Was given the honor to march at the head of American forced at the surrender ceremony. Interesting that there barely any shots of it, only couple of glimpses in the backg background, never focused on. Given our prominence at the event, and our distinctive look, one wonders.

This is nothing more than a recreation of the Battle of Yorktown by enthusiasts who dress up and use reproduction weapons of the era. Honestly very boring.
