I've actually seen this show and it was just amazing. One thing I noticed was how deep his speaking voice was, but as soon as he sang "A Different Corner" or "Cowboys And Angels" he still had that angelic, bell-clear vocal sound that we all know.
I've always marveled that while his speaking voice did in fact deepen (let's face it he smoked A LOT- by his own admission), yet, his singing voice was unaffected entirely!
I'm revisiting this after 11 years. What a BEAUTIFULLY filmed video. Thank you so much for recording & sharing. Symphonica was cancelled here due to his poor health & I had to sell my London tickets due to my own poor health, surgery etc. Big regrets that I couldn't see this. So grateful to people like you for uploading such quality videos. Thank you thank you THANK YOU!

The mix of melancholy and anger is better than in the original version. The original Rufus version sounds very young, and it's lovely. It's rawer, the pain and desperation of it sound like the pain and desperation of a young man. But this? This sounds like a more experienced man, experiencing these things in his own way.

This song shows very clearly how great a singer George Michael was. Rufus's original performance is, in my opinion, too melancholic and heavy. George knows how to refine a song and present it in a gentle and pleasant way.
