Been watching you for a while now Shane.... now I've finally subscribed. Thanks for all your excellent work on the Duo and on foldables. You are definitely one of the main voices that got me interested in the space. I'll never go back to a slab phone! Thanks again man!
Thanks for the excellent overview Shane. I upgraded to the Z Fold 4 from the Fold 3. Absolutely love the multi-tasking flexibility you discuss. Your assessment is dead on. This phone is so good at muti-tasking! We use MS Office like a lot of companies do.... the big screen is excellent for reviewing and eding Word docs, Excel sheets, etc. Typically, I'll set up the Fold 4 with the stand. I'll use Spotify on on side, and Teams on the other. Also use Spotify and Twitter in split screen or Washington Post and NYT that way. In all those scenarios, it's buttery smooth like you say.
I will say though... as much as a love the Z Fold 4, I can honestly say I'll be anxiously awaiting the Surface Duo 3 in 2023. I've not owned a Surface Duo yet, but am a HUGE fan of Windows Snap on the desktop, which I use on a widescreen gaming monitor at home and on a multi-monitor setup at work. No question the dual screen format of the duo has advantages over Samsung's approach.
Hey pal GREAT video(as usual) 2 easy questions - 1) what was that metal clip on your case? 2) what is that radar widget?(is it live and "moving"?) Ok, 2.5 questions Anyway long time watcher. Massive Duo fan. I rode mine until the wheels fell off(until the Fold 4 launch). I didn't see a real reason to move to the Duo 2 because I was so satisfied. I had all intentions of getting the 2 but I was leary of a 3 never happening. But I went to re-up and get the 2 and I held the Fold 4 and immediately had a change of heart. It kills me to say that. The outside screen flipped me the most, however the water resistance, faster charging, and the newest processor sealed it. I already held hardware longer than I typically do and I wasn't looking forward to having an older model for another year(again, lol). So I got it and man, I love it. There are definitely things I miss about the Duo but this has been a great decision for me. It's crazy because I was done with Samsung. I was just so tired of them. Going all the way back to Sammy's before the S line was even a thing and I've had every Note since the 1st. I was over them and now here I am. But I really like it. It helps that I'm a big comicbook reader and it's better than the Duo for that because of the divider(but I LOVED the Duo for regular books, miss that). Anyway that's my life story, sorry, lol. You're great. It's amazing to watch your channel flourishing. You really do GREAT work and it's appreciated. I SO have my fingers crossed for a Duo 3 🤞
Love the duo 2 but when you need just a phone, for pics or a quick text reply or even to check emails the duo 2 just fails, even note taking on the fly for me is done better on the F4, not sure if samsung intended it but the pen attachment makes a great hand hold when taking notes
Thank you Shane great review. Yeah it's close but my vote goes to the Fold 4. The deal breaker for me is being able to view an app in split screen alongside another app like the Duo but when you want to span across that larger screen you can. You can then review or edit docs or consume media without having a split down the middle like the Duo.
really great review. No issues on my end. A tip, for the front screen you can actually make an app float and readjust the aspect ratio. I do that for both front screen and the tablet screen. Resize it to what makes sense for the app
Hello, ran into your channel and right off the back, I'm digging your style of reviews and videos! Subscribed right off the back. Anyways I was wondering, about what's on the back of your case next to the S Pen? I'm thinking it's a stand of some sort maybe????
The under display camera is not intended to use for photo's but for conference calls when using flex mode. And even though the camera specs of the regular are not that impressive the photo's they make are amazing.
Right, I'm just saying it's an awful camera regardless and the trade off of having an awful camera for a shimmery, very much still visible UDC is not worth it to me. I'm more bothered by the UDC than a hole punch, but I am photosensitive. YMMV.
@@scaryifliteral I understand what you're saying but for most people the UDC will be kind of the same as the crease. If you look for it you will see it, but in normal use it perfectly blends into the content you're watching. For me it is the perfect trade-off especially as I only use the camera for conference calls in which the quality does not have to be perfect. My only negative point is the position of the camera. As this is intended for conference calls in flex mode it should be on the top of the phone in flex mode. Concerning the other cameras there are many comparison video's on RUclips now where they blindly compare the output and the fold 4 wins a lot of time. I'm also very impressed compared to e.g. fold 3. Finally I was a bit hesitant to switch from Fold 3 to 4 due to the very small refinements. However, the better camera's, more energy efficient processor (much, much more) and slightly wider front screen makes the phone as a whole a big upgrade from Fold 3 and I did not expect that at all.

Hi, I think you may have missed a camera feature of the fold, you can display the pictures taken on the left while shooting. Also I am 100% for that UDC camera
I'm lucky to have a duo2 and a zfold 4. I agree the duo 2 screen is more intuitive for workflow multitasking. The samsung software Def has more customization. The zfold screen is better overall, but I'm a little OCD when I see the fold line especially in low light, its annoying. proc and specs on the zfold blow away the duo for smooth reaponsiveness. Pros and cons to both devices and I'm a fan of both to be sure.
I pulled the trigger and bought a Fold 4, 😉 will see how I go, currently using a Pixel 6 Pro and a OG Duo, mostly just use the Duo for book duties now, and the Pixel 6 Pro as my daily main smartphone, I hope that my needs will be meet, with the Fold 4.
On the S-pen "snipping tool" you can extract text by pressing the T icon. Same with the tabs and notes. With the new 12L update it should be in the right hand side before you press the pencil button to draw

Hey Shane, thanks for the great video! I have one question as an iPhone user. One thing I can’t live without is the notification management I can do on iPhone lock screens with face unlock. I know biometric face unlock isn’t as secure on Samsung (that part isn’t an issue for me), but is there a way with tweaking settings that I can set face unlock to show notifications when it sees my face but keep me on the Lock Screen (ie not go into the main screen)? I know there’s an option labelled something like “stay on Lock Screen until swiping” or something like that, but I’m wondering if that’ll allow me to see my notification details before going into my phone so to speak? Any light you can shed on this would be really appreciated and will be the deciding factor for me switching!
If you're asking for a feature that keeps the notifications hidden until it sees your face or is unlocked in some way, I don't think that is something it can do. I've not seen that setting.

Have you received the latest update.
yesterday on Friday April 21st 2023 Northern Idaho in the house,on the Montana Canadian border, I got me an update on my Z-fold 4: "Software update 8
This important software update improves the security of your John's Z Fold4 and includes other enhancements.
the seam always been the same...over time i hope it dont crack
If microsoft abandons the duo, is the z fold your phone of choice? That's is if Google doesn't make one.
Of phones that are out right now I would use Z Fold 4 or Surface Duo 2. Today, they're really close for me, but I think it'll shift over time.
@@scaryifliteral thanks for the answer! I should have been a bit more specific, would the z fold be the series of choice but I think ya answered that question.
Is it worth $1800?
Most ppl: No, it's not.
iSheep: Oooh, shiny new colour & its only $1,800!
Flip 4 is the best phone ever
Fold is too expensive 🤧 😭 😪
Totally different devices. Not comparable to me.
did u actually said iphones have a really good battery life??????????????????
According to just about every battery test I've seen as well as many anecdotal reports, yes.
@@scaryifliteral as an ex iphone user i refuse to believe that 🤣
just get it from used market cmon
Due vs fold ....Bill Gates uses a fold 3 ......need I say more 😜
I think everyone should just use the phone they want to use. What one person prefers has absolutely no bearing on what someone else will.
@@scaryifliteral just saying though 😉👍
THAT IS NOT THE Z FOLD 4 ! THAT IS THE Z FOLD 3 . ALL UR INFO IS WRONG ON THE Z FOLD 4 . ZF4 has improvement like better battery, multi tasking wile on call use, better camera and no hole in middle of inside screen ect.....
It's a z fold 4. You can literally watch me unbox it on this channel (ruclips.net/video/ozKnxFFLfko/видео.html). I keep the UDC disabled because I'm photosensitive and it shimmers. Please stop lying to people.
