And as you pointed out the additional rust points from the multiple holes further degrade the body panel. I think it's fair to say you do more harm than good.
I wish I saw this video before I wasted a bunch of money. Yes, wait for the tire size you know you want. I bought a Rubicon, and sold the tires and wheels for nothing. Then I bought 35" tires and new wheels but knew I wanted bigger. Sold those tires and wheels for next to nothing and bought 38" tires and bead locks. You are so right Matt, try to patient it will save you a lot of money.
I got the CAI from injen for the 3.6. It seems to provide similar protection to the stock intake. The benefit is it makes sick broom-broom sounds. Plus injen has a snorkel that bolts onto the intake if i choose that route. Personally i love it. I went with the extreme recon setup because I knew 37s were the largest tire I’d personally run. All I had to add were coil spacers and longer shocks to give the needed of clearance.
I agree with all you said. My big mistake was increasing the size tire size and not changing my axle gearing at first. I thought the 4:10 would be good, but it stopped my transmission from going to 8th hear with 38s. If there is one thing I have learn so far in my third Jeep, you will change what you wanted over time.
I agree about the "cold air intakes". But I also want a little more sound from my intake so I did a compromise, I got the aFe Super Stock Induction which is basically an intake resonator delete, but keeping the functionality of the stock airbox which is arguably pretty well engineered for this platform. I'm waiting to receive it now so we will see if I get the results I want!!
Another very good and informative video. I think you have supported all of your choices very well. I've made a couple of those errors with tires, other options. I have to say, I like mostly basic, useful modifications. I'm a Jeep purist, don't like flashy.... But that's me. And I agree with you.... Good video and like the controversial topics. I completely agree on the body panels and air intakes The Xtreme Recon is a different arguement if you’re getting a Rubicon or Willys The Rubi comes with the front Dana 44 (m210) while the Willys or non rubicons come with the front Dana 30 (m186). The difference is huge for the front axle if you’re going to wheel. The brakes, steering, wheels and front axle is what pushed me to XR non-Rubicon I wondered about the Rubicon benefiting the XR but the beefed brakes is a plus when you get larger tires I plan yo add locker to the front once warranty is up for me. Maybe 37s and that’s about it.
Boy, I'm impressed. Your are on point with it all. You shoukd know a snorkel has another perpose. Raising the air intake helps u to suck in cleaner air if you are kicking up alot of dust on the trail. Sometimes adding a singke switch cant be avoided. I have to agree with pretty much everything that you said…. Except the spacers…. They will be good if you cannot afford new rims…. I ran mine for 3 years no problems… even wheeled it twice with them on…….. great video and info. Great job!
For taillights, i found a much better protection is making them smaller. I installed the flushmount taillights from Oracle. They looks and perform great!
The Xtreme Recon package increases the GVWR to 6100 lbs (an increase of 300 lbs). Once you put your Jeep on a truckstop CAT scale you realize how important that additional capacity would be.
Another great video, love these. Personally, I love my Extreme Recon package and I'm one that will keep it as is as I'm not going to do any lifts or tires. On another video, maybe you could cover the 3rd Brake light relocation options as this is something I'd like to do and have noticed that especially with 35" or larger tires on the back a vehicle behind you can't even see the CHMSL due to the size of the tire. -Thanks!
I ordered the Extreme Recon Package on my JLUR. Mainly because I never planned on going over 35" tires for a while at least. Plus, they were trying to charge me an additional $1,000 for ANY wheel on top of the price of the jeep. This made my OTD price for the XR Package really equivelant to $3,000. That's about the cost to change the gearing on both axles. I'm not going too rad on my off-road journey (for now) so the XR Package is great for me. Like you said, totally subjective. Thanks for the video.
I lived on 32s on a TJ Rubi for 15 years and it was amazing what I could do. The 35s to me are about equivalent on a longer wheelbase JL. I'll never need more because I'll take the bypass over the cost and the mileage loss of going bigger. So XR is perfect for me.
Rugged Ridge Snorkel did give me 4mpg increase on my JLUR 3.6 and works well as my cold air intake :). I agree, skip the light guards and wheel spacers. Safe travels!
Outstanding video. I had to laugh. I have owned jeeps since I was 16. So for 48 years. One of the absolute first that things that I have put on the newer ones is the headlight and taillight guards. Darned if that wasn’t the first thing that you would not install. I got a nice chuckle out of that. You know your stuff.
I keep almost everything stock on every car/truck/jeep I buy (lame I know) but I've never had any costly issues doing that so I think I'll just stick to what works. That Recon pkg with 35's suits me just fine anyway. Might be getting that Beach today!
Thanks for mentioning the cold air intake. I’ve messed with them in the past, almost never worth it. While the sound was cool, and maybe a little power increase- In my 2004 WJ with the 4.7HO, I noticed dirt in the intake tube. No cold air is going to filter as well as stock. If you play in the desert or go on long dirty trails, stay stock or add a snorkel that uses the factory box. Your engine will thank you. Oh, and no K&N’s either. Cheers.
Great video..though I went with American made spacer for stock Rubicon rims and upgraded to 35's....no trailing or rock crawling in near future..mostly beach. Easy priced way to get look I like.
I have a Volant Performance CAI and bought it mainly for the sound, and the 100k mile filter they offer. For the price, I'm not disappointed at all. The Voswitch JL300 was worth every penny in my gladiator. I fully agree with you on the light guards though. Some look cool, but not really functional at all. One of my favorite mods though to date is the Select Increments JLJT-Pods that replace the soundbar speakers for the Alpine factory system. It's the only one I've seen that doesn't require you to cut up the sound bar to fit the speakers. Lastly, anything with an angry grille is pretty much just lighting your money on fire. Great video and can't wait for the next one.
Pretty much agree other than the XR Package. That's the best deal to come from Jeep in a long time. Factory installed and covered under warranty, the XR package is an unbelievable deal. Changing your gearing while still under warranty is very risky if something goes wrong. Frankly, changing anything on your Jeep that comes with the XR package is risky for warranty concerns if you have an issue. Unless you are changing the wheels and tires and suspension for a different look, that package will take you anywhere you want to go without destroying your $60K plus Jeep! Smile. The gearing and brakes upgrade alone are well worth the cost. A couple of things I'd add is all the underbody protection that people spend a ton of money on, and adds a lot of weight, and they don't have 1 scratch on the panels. Expensive steering stabilizers that look good, but don't really change much. Good topic that you took the time explain the why...
@@DIRTROADCRED Yes yours is looking amazing! Mine has been at my local dealership for 4 weeks now while they try to figure out why the battery keeps draining. Buy a jeep they say….😂
I put light guards on my '22 JTR not for protection but for looks, yes, and as a nod to the worst trail damage my JKU ever suffered, which was a hit from a downed tree branch to the grill, headlight and hood. I ran spacers on my JKU because I liked the factory rubicon wheels and wanted to keep them but needed to push them out to clear the 3" lift I put on it. I think spacers are fine if being done to clear suspension. If installing a snorkel, I had one on my JKU, go the extra step and run all your breather lines from your transmission and differentials up to it as well. Seal your fuse and switch box. You can't really do anythign about the alternator but Jeep mounts those up high so it shold be fine. Also, to make your snorkle even more functional, install one of those dust pre-filters at the intake. I ran some really dusty trails and my air filter was clogged after only a day. After I installed that prefilter, I never had to clean my air filter. They really do work. I don't count the XR package as a mod since it's a dealer option. You can debate wether you shoudl buy it, sure, but it's not a mod. I'm actually building out my JTR as sort of an XR clone. I'm installing the spats to help with the mud my 35" tires throw and lifting it 2 1/2". I think the XR's look really good right from the dealer, so, I would disagree with you on this one. Unless you have plans, from the start, to toss it all as you did, I think it's a good option, esp if you are getting a Willy's or another trim that doesn't usually come with the d44 up front.
@Go Xplr I've seen them both work and fail. I had 2.5"/1.5" on my 98 Tahoe 4 door with steel wheels and 33" tires and wheeled the hell out of it with no problem. The issue comes with cheap spacers and not using locate and retorquing after around 50 miles. Same thing can happen with aluminum wheels if they aren't retorted when brand new.
Hey Matt, as always I appreciated your video and knowledge. I’m new to the Jeep world and enjoying my new 2023 since November. From my little experience I bought the Sahara version that most likely cover my need at the time, i thought the floorboard was a must but know beside the fact it more fore protecting the body side from the wheel splash there are more and obstacle coming in and out . I’m looking to change them for a floor board kit that come down when you open the doors. 😅
I am a big fan of utility versus show. Like you said on several things, if you’re not already ________ then don’t do _______. Subjective, but solid advice. The spacers I completely agree IF you don’t like the wheels. Some of us like the steel wheel with ballooned tires and they just don’t have the backspacing. But, they do screw with the Ackerman, so….
It’a not something I’ve seen a lot of coverage of, but the Lasfit red AUX panel is a great product, imo. It gives you a very factory look and comes with two buttons for lockers preprogrammed to function like the rubicon’s from the factory! It also has plug for a radio so it’s easier to do a stealth install for your GMRS or CB if you still use that.
The extreme recon package if you sell everything separately you will have more money that it cost. Just the rims are 800$ a piece.... If you change axle you can easily sell those for good money aswell. All in all its a good value even if you rip everything off
Added the Holley iNTECH CAI to my Rubicon 4xe recently and I notice the documented power increase. I also chose this option because it utilizes factory intake components to maintain water intrusion protection.
Thanks Matt, another helpful video. I really appreciate your take on wheel spacers. I wasn't sure about them, but I value your advice and will spend the extra for new rims with my lift.
At a dilemma, between 35s 2.5lift clayton, or stick with my 33s 1.5 clayton. I'll save money staying with my 33s, and my jeep is my daily driver so probably handle better on road, and I don't really rock climb, just drive through pastures. To me the 1.5inch 33s is the reasonable approach and stance still looks good, but man 2.5lift with 35s would look so cool though... Cool vs reason, the duality of man.
Another great video. Love the perspective. Also, since the last video and I vented about being over 4months waiting on JLUR Earl. I'd like to report, it's built finally and hopefully I'll take delivery right around 5month mark. Thanks for the MoJo
I hope you love your Earl JLUR as much as I love my EARL JLURXR that I received in November! Don’t let the Earl haters out there get you down! It’s a fantastic color that needs to be seen in person! Enjoy!
I'm just a cruzer and light off roader . so the XR package on my hightide gives me the look I'm loving. but I do wish I got the tow package . thinking that will come in handy in the future.
I agree with just about every one of those mods. I do think that they XR package gives you more for your money. $4k package, sell the wheels for $3k and you basically got the 4.56 gearing, 1.5" lift and a MOPAR reinforced tire carrier for $1k. If you don't like any of those, at least the XR take off will actually make you a little money to put towards upgrades.
Great stuff, and in an effort to support (not debate) here's my 2 cents as I too wish to help folks be better educated. 1. Wheel spacers- disagree and agree. For me my JLU-"built"R as seen on my channel jeepNdirt runs wheels spacers for two reasons. First I like the wider stance and stability it offers while off road with my Rubi M220 wide rear / Ultimate 44 up front. Second, you're right a quality spacer requires care to ensure everything is torqued and hasn't loosened, however I don't question the integrity of their construction because as an Engineer who works with different metals in manufacturing I understand what goes into that construction and why I only buy name brand not Amazon spacer. That said, I also frequently have my wheels off for deep cleaning as I'm one of those who actually wheels my JL (on 38's) but then likes to get it back to super clean for the daily commute and trips to the mall during the week (lol) so it's each for me to visually inspect and check my match marks to ensure nothing has come loose. The other benefit for me is that I like the option of taking them off and being able to run with a narrower wheel base if needed for really tight trails or ??? and still have no scrubbing. That said, if I was running 40's and high horsepower and knew that I'd be spinning wheels and running the chance of shock loading regularly, then I wouldn't run spacers unless I was on Ton axles. But then again, if I was going to run 40's I'd be on Tons anyway which would be the right width and I wouldn't need spacers. 2. Totally agree on buying the right tire size first. That leads me into the other thing you mentioned about not buying the recon package. I personally think that it's great that jeep offers different packages for different folks as often that's easier to for many to join our jeep family, but if you're going to build it then consider just buying a sport S with option package for things like the heated steering wheel, hill decent, audio package, etc. since you're likely to strip out the axles and add your own stuff including wheels and tires. The only hiccup in this plan would be if someone absolutely want's the 4.1 transfer case, but even then having one transplanted into a sport S might still justify the price difference between the sport S and Rubicon. Having said all that, there truly are different strokes for different folks so I always make the same disclaimer as you did when I'm help folks or answering questions. At the end of the day I just enjoy helping people and being a part of their transition into our jeep community. I love your channel and have been subscribed for some time. Thanks for doing what you do brother, God Bless.
Extreme Recon package for many is all they'll ever need if hard core wheeling is not a priority. For what you get vs. doing those same mods on your own the ERP is a bargain. I had a heavily upgraded JL Wrangler and after spending a lot of money on after market stuff never ended up using the Jeep as it should have been used. My JL sat high, and wife did not like driving it, hard to get our big dogs in/out, etc. Runs on the beach and some easy fire roads. Ever move out West look into a more rock crawling capable rig.
Agreed on the XR package. From where I sit, that's best suited for buyers with deep pockets who aren't real mechanically inclined either - people who buy, not build, I guess. I like the thought of the frame reinforcements on paper, but gun to my head, I can't even tell you where they are or how they reinforce anything. For me (don't hate me Matt), I would probably not get the Bulletpoint Mounting Solutions system again. Is it more practical than the rubber tray? Yes. Does it look badass? Yes. Do I ever actually use it? No. My phone plugs in from the center storage cubby, and sits in an Amazon tray. I have never once put my GoPro on the BPMS stand I have. I never use my phone while driving, so I never need or want it near my line of sight. At the end of the day, it was a couple hundred bucks I would have rather put towards something else.
I have an XR Package and Im keeping it the way it is. Replacing everything would cost a lot more than 4k on a Rubi or Sport. I can do a lot myself, but it would still cost more than 4k. I also don't need anything more than what the XR Package offers. I think most people would be in that situation. Need Vs. Want. What will you actually NEED to get you where you plan on going. If you want to do a full custom build anyway. It's probably better to go with a base Rubi and use that 4k towards upgrades.
@@DIRTROADCRED I have no doubt! Maybe I'm just too simple of a person, but I set my music, I plug in my GPS route if I need it, and I drive off. I never need my phone by my face, especially when my big brother insurance company is tracking every effing thing I do while driving... :(
Another great video 😎😎I just disagree on two things, one is wheel spacers 🤣🤣😂😂🤣I love them things, and second, the extreme recon, I got that with the 392, because of the 4:56 gears, which work perfectly with 40" tires, I think the recon looks cool, although I'm putting a 4" lift on it 👍👍👍. Good points you made though 👍👍👍
I've commented before that the Willys doesn't get enough off road treatment to bridge the gap between Sport/Sahara and Rubicon. The XR package on the Willys is kind of the exception. I just ordered a Willys with the XR package this week for a few reasons but it does happen to be the best factory option as a Rubi Lite. Maybe Jeep will step up and make the Willys a full Rubi lite in 24 as apposed to its current offroad Sport S configuration.
Nice video, though for me a lift is not appropriate for a wrangler. I believe its all in technique in your ability to negotiate the trail. Also for me a automatic transmission is not worth the money, as it is not true driving. The CAI is worth it for me as K&N does make a snorkel kit for the wrangler. I prefer to clean the filter rather than change it everytime I do a tune up. Also the bead locks are not allowed on some paved roads in some states. But like you say....modify it for yourself not others. I have a 2016 jku Rubicon hardrock. Love it
I still believe the Extreme Recon is a bit of rip off for Rubicon. You pay for D44s that already installed and come with the trim. Much more value for Sport that comes with D33s and open difs.
Hey man, I’m new to the Jeep Life, bought a new JL Willys this past summer and my wife and I love it. Took it out on the beach in North Carolina in the fall. QUESTION: I am a fellow Pennsylvanian (Western PA) and decided to undercoat the Jeep in the hopes of preserving the bottom / avoiding rust as long as I can. What is your position / opinion of vehicle undercoating? I sub’d to your channel as soon as I found it a few months ago, great content, I really enjoy watching.
Thanks for following along! I have not personally undercoated any of my jeeps, what I normally do is wait til winter is over and give them a good cleaning underneath and a fresh coat of VHT frame paint, it takes a few hours and it looks brand new!
Hi, I'm new to the jeep world. I just bought a 2003 jeep willys sport, and I like your videos. Question . Have you heard of any factory issues they have? Thanks
I have a 2020 Willys Unlimited all stock. I’m planning to go with a 2-3” lift and 35s but keep the stock rims (save some money and I like how they look). What issues might I run into and how can they be avoided (short of don’t do it)?
You're thoughts on leveling kit ?? I've been to shops never heard of it. Now I got it as starter knowing when I can afford next level to lift and regearing. Guess I'm asking limits of kit ? Yes I have MCL 6 love it great job of doing list really helpful thanks Matt and Ryan great job guys.
I also wonder how does your jeep handle 37s? You have 2.0 turbo? Any overheating issue? What does your MPG look like? I have a 2.0L in my stock Willys, and it yields a pretty significant MPG advantage over the similar V6. But I heard once you beef up tires, install a lift - the MPG rating for the two engines is essentially the same?
Great Videos - I just got a 23 Rubicon 2 door jeep, I purchased a 1.5" Clayton overland lift and I plan to run a 35" tires. I dont want a crazy wide look but want an aggressive look that does not throw mud down the side of my truck. do you have a good wheel size reccomndation? I dont really know what off set or back spacing and it is confusing to me. The most important thing for me is the jeep runs good on the highway and does not wander but still is good for mild to moderate trails. any help would be great
Matt, it looks like you have built a lot of cool jeeps over the year's so im asking a pro here with this question. Can a base sport be trick out to be as capable and look as good as a rubi for less than the cost of a rubi? And what do I flat out lose starting with the sport that cant be added. Hope this question makes sense.
Yes it can get very close to the capability of a rubicon! Also thanks for the support with a membership! What a flex to have the star next to your name!
Appreciate the knowledge...I've yet to invest in either of the items you mention. However looking for bigger tires. JK 2016 SAHARA. WITH STOCK RIMS do you think I will need to upgrade wheels? Looking at a 35x12.5x18 toyo AT3 Or a 315x70x18 extreme geolander yogohama Present size rim 18" dia. 8" to 8.5 rim wide.
Great Video thank you. ? For you, I have a 2020 JLU that came with 255/70R18’s. I bought new wheels(Fuel Assualts) and tires(Ko2’s-LT285/70R18’s). Do I need to take it to the dealer to have calibration done to get proper speed showing on the speedometer?
So I just traded in my Chevy 1500 Z92 for a 2020 wrangler recon, not extreme recon. Any ideas for any after market mods to add? First time jeep owner. I drive it daily. Want to off-road a bit more. I watched both your vids of your fave and least fave mods. Wish you and your family the best
My dealer ordered the Wrangler Sport S Willys for me when I requested the Willys (not Sport). I have been waiting 7 months for this to come in. I added all the packages to it. Now that I have learned more, I am scared my maxed out $56 K Willys will come with roll down windows. Do you know if the Customer Preferred Package, Convenience Group, technology Group, and Convenience Group will upgrade the windows?
I have a 2023 Rubicon XR. I am curious do you have any recommendations for fender options compared to the factory texture black ones with those little XR extensions? I don't want to lose my DRL leds in the fenders and haven't found ones that would be a good option for aftermarket. Any help appreciated.
My Fox shocks are junk. Glad my Mojave is stock as the front are being replaced under warranty. Terrible creaking noise. Dealer likes to reject warranty work, buyer beware! Unless Mopar parts.
Hoping to get a Jeep soon and have been looking at jeeps from 2010-2012…. (Because it seems that’s what I can afford. New Jeep’s are very pricy and out of budget for me) Are there still good accessories or are they going to be obsolete soon?
Aloha and good 👍 afternoon 🔅 Matt. These are great viewpoints that you presented in this topic. I'll definitely follow up on this.🤜🤛🤙🏉🤲📼🎓🌟👀🔅👍🤠🙌👐🏡💰😎😄🤓🔍💪🐕🐶⛅😇

The Xtreme Recon is a different arguement if you’re getting a Rubicon or Willys
The Rubi comes with the front Dana 44 (m210) while the Willys or non rubicons come with the front Dana 30 (m186). The difference is huge for the front axle if you’re going to wheel.
The brakes, steering, wheels and front axle is what pushed me to XR non-Rubicon
I wondered about the Rubicon benefiting the XR but the beefed brakes is a plus when you get larger tires
I plan yo add locker to the front once warranty is up for me. Maybe 37s and that’s about it.

The Xtreme Recon package increases the GVWR to 6100 lbs (an increase of 300 lbs). Once you put your Jeep on a truckstop CAT scale you realize how important that additional capacity would be.

Good call and great opinion!
Good to know!
Awesome video man. Thats what Jeeping is about, Building it your way! and we all have our own tastes.
You got that right!
I approve this whole message. Thanks for taking time to provide your input.
Glad it was helpful!
OMG, I watched the video where you took everything apart just yesterday, and I was like, “Wait! Didn’t he buy the extreme recon package?” 😂
LOL and ripped everything off!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I keep almost everything stock on every car/truck/jeep I buy (lame I know) but I've never had any costly issues doing that so I think I'll just stick to what works. That Recon pkg with 35's suits me just fine anyway. Might be getting that Beach today!
Awesome!
Got it!!!!
Cheers.
Right on!
Great video..though I went with American made spacer for stock Rubicon rims and upgraded to 35's....no trailing or rock crawling in near future..mostly beach. Easy priced way to get look I like.
Very nice!
Thanks for such great comments!
Great info for my 2023 Wrangler.
Thanks
Michael Herrell
Thanks for watching!
Jeep lover, just stoppin thru.

Welcome!
Great comment, thank you for the input!
Awesome video, how about next a video of things you would do on a 2023.
Coming this week!
Totally agree with the XR package. I have it and it isn’t worth it. If Jeep actually put on a real lift it would have been worth it.
Mine is almost all the way gone!
@@DIRTROADCRED Yes yours is looking amazing! Mine has been at my local dealership for 4 weeks now while they try to figure out why the battery keeps draining. Buy a jeep they say….😂
I got the Auxbeam RGB XL switch panel. Wish these were available back in the 80’s-90’s!
I know!!!
Those are all well reasoned points
Thank you!
Appreciate the comment!
I've never had any issue at all with wheel spacers. I like my factory Rubicon Hard Rock wheels, the spacers work for me.
I’ve seen 37’s come off a dudes Gladiator at 70 miles an hour on the highway. Stay away from spacers … IMHO
I've had a spacer/wheel sheer off on the highway to no fault of my own, so L opinion
@@OGSook37s bring a lot more rotational mass than 33s
Interesting!
With the recon package you get the cast knuckles not the Aluminum knuckles so that might be worth it in itself.
Good call!
Welcome aboard!
Good comment Luke!
I agree with all 7.
Right on!
Sick glad it works well for you!
The extreme recon package if you sell everything separately you will have more money that it cost. Just the rims are 800$ a piece.... If you change axle you can easily sell those for good money aswell. All in all its a good value even if you rip everything off
Good call!
Awesome video. Appreciate what you do for the keep community Thank you
Thanks so much!
Added the Holley iNTECH CAI to my Rubicon 4xe recently and I notice the documented power increase. I also chose this option because it utilizes factory intake components to maintain water intrusion protection.
That’s interesting!
Thanks Matt, another helpful video. I really appreciate your take on wheel spacers. I wasn't sure about them, but I value your advice and will spend the extra for new rims with my lift.
Glad to help!
Don’t like drop step running boards on Jeeps, especially Rubicons. As I’ve been watching your build I was thinking the extreme recon package also😂
Xtreme recon is almost gone!
I like my Clayton 3.5, just need to figure out what your end tire size goal is!
Another great video. Love the perspective. Also, since the last video and I vented about being over 4months waiting on JLUR Earl. I'd like to report, it's built finally and hopefully I'll take delivery right around 5month mark. Thanks for the MoJo
Glad it’s on its way!
I hope you love your Earl JLUR as much as I love my EARL JLURXR that I received in November! Don’t let the Earl haters out there get you down! It’s a fantastic color that needs to be seen in person! Enjoy!
@@twiztedpatriot9301 It's an unusual color that shape shifts nicely. And lets face it, it can't be any worse than the JK Dune color. 🤙
Your opinions was very helpful to me
I appreciate that!
I'm just a cruzer and light off roader . so the XR package on my hightide gives me the look I'm loving. but I do wish I got the tow package . thinking that will come in handy in the future.
Tow package is definitely a must have
@@DIRTROADCRED are the aftermarket ones good ? and have you researched any to recommend ?
I agree with just about every one of those mods. I do think that they XR package gives you more for your money. $4k package, sell the wheels for $3k and you basically got the 4.56 gearing, 1.5" lift and a MOPAR reinforced tire carrier for $1k. If you don't like any of those, at least the XR take off will actually make you a little money to put towards upgrades.
That’s how I worked it out!
And it's all covered under warranty.
Totally agree. Thank you awesome contents
Thanks for watching!
Great comment and I appreciate the interesting comment! Happy jeeping!
Good comment here!
Interesting point of view! Personally I use mine every day!
@@DIRTROADCRED I have no doubt! Maybe I'm just too simple of a person, but I set my music, I plug in my GPS route if I need it, and I drive off. I never need my phone by my face, especially when my big brother insurance company is tracking every effing thing I do while driving... :(
Great advice
Thank you!
MOney$ or options...have fun running on and off trail ... the grass is always greener on the other side🙂
👍
Another great video 😎😎I just disagree on two things, one is wheel spacers 🤣🤣😂😂🤣I love them things, and second, the extreme recon, I got that with the 392, because of the 4:56 gears, which work perfectly with 40" tires, I think the recon looks cool, although I'm putting a 4" lift on it 👍👍👍. Good points you made though 👍👍👍
Right on, thanks for watching!
Wheel spacers are a joke dude
@@MikeSmith-ey7ku yeah and Joe Biden is a joke to ,but people still use him
Do you have any suggestions for a floor mat for a 2016 2 door JK?
THANK YOU
I've commented before that the Willys doesn't get enough off road treatment to bridge the gap between Sport/Sahara and Rubicon.
Good comment!
I think the Willys does, if they say went with Dana 44 front and 410 gearing, less lockers it would be a Rubicon medium...lol.
I knew you would say against xtream package.
After I pulled it all off!
Love it
Right on!
Keep it up guys!
Thanks Dawn!
I still believe the Extreme Recon is a bit of rip off for Rubicon. You pay for D44s that already installed and come with the trim. Much more value for Sport that comes with D33s and open difs.
The biggest value is in the regear, suspension, and wheels and tires.
Thanks
Nothing too concerning on the 03 they are very well build wranglers!
It is sleepy time on Dirt Road Cred Thanks
I hope not!
I have a 2020 Willys Unlimited all stock. I’m planning to go with a 2-3” lift and 35s but keep the stock rims (save some money and I like how they look). What issues might I run into and how can they be avoided (short of don’t do it)?
Only issue will be backspacing not allowing the tire to clear the lower control arm, bigger offset will help
Great content Uncle Matt 😅
Thank you lol
You're thoughts on leveling kit ?? I've been to shops never heard of it. Now I got it as starter knowing when I can afford next level to lift and regearing. Guess I'm asking limits of kit ? Yes I have MCL 6 love it great job of doing list really helpful thanks Matt and Ryan great job guys.
Leveling kits are a good idea for starting off! Once you consider a regear that’s when you know you need a full kit!
@@DIRTROADCRED thanks 👍 Matt
How about a super charger?
Question of the 2 6 cylinder engines Is the one with the regular alternator better than the E torque system?
I like the standard 3.6
Love the white JK
The original !
Should you buy the 2 liter again? Thanks
I would!
when is the merch coming? I need to buy a decal or hoodie or something
Merch is at the printers now!
It does well!
The most important thing for me is the jeep runs good on the highway and does not wander but still is good for mild to moderate trails. any help would be great
Well said! The 1.5" setup is what we are planning to do on our 2 door!
You will have more sidewall bulge but they should be fine for daily driving
Great Video thank you. ? For you, I have a 2020 JLU that came with 255/70R18’s. I bought new wheels(Fuel Assualts) and tires(Ko2’s-LT285/70R18’s). Do I need to take it to the dealer to have calibration done to get proper speed showing on the speedometer?
You can take it at the dealer or you can get a programmer yourself!
Does the size difference(which isn’t much) require recalibration?
Will the 2023 Extreme recon on a rubicon support 37x12.5 KM3 ?..
They will fit, it will be tight when off road
So I just traded in my Chevy 1500 Z92 for a 2020 wrangler recon, not extreme recon. Any ideas for any after market mods to add? First time jeep owner. I drive it daily. Want to off-road a bit more. I watched both your vids of your fave and least fave mods. Wish you and your family the best
Thanks so much! I would start looking at lift kits and wheel and tire set ups first!
@@DIRTROADCRED so the recon came with a 1.5in lift already and I’m running 285 falcons. Can fit 33s on just fine.
I would have included the wheels. Bead-locks aren't DOT approved and these days there are more legal wheels that do the same thing.
Good call!

Dual door group would add the power windows, not sure on the others
I have a 2023 Rubicon XR. I am curious do you have any recommendations for fender options compared to the factory texture black ones with those little XR extensions? I don't want to lose my DRL leds in the fenders and haven't found ones that would be a good option for aftermarket. Any help appreciated.
They're pretty limited if you want to keep the stock DRL I have been impressed with the new set from bushwhacker!
Oh I wanna know is are they going to put the hurricane engine in the gladiator and the Wrangler around 2025, 2026
Hopefully that is an option soon!
My Fox shocks are junk. Glad my Mojave is stock as the front are being replaced under warranty. Terrible creaking noise. Dealer likes to reject warranty work, buyer beware! Unless Mopar parts.
Good to know!
Hoping to get a Jeep soon and have been looking at jeeps from 2010-2012…. (Because it seems that’s what I can afford. New Jeep’s are very pricy and out of budget for me) Are there still good accessories or are they going to be obsolete soon?
Yes there’s a ton, I would also stick to a 2012 or newer due to a better engine
Don’t get anything older than 13 or 14 the 10 and 11 have the old crap engine and the 12 had issues with the new engine that they fixed
