  • My truck was making weird hamster noises and I couldn't figure out why! Then I noticed the serpentine belt had some uneven wear. Turns out the idler pulley has seen better days!

    I have a 2003 Toyota Celica that has a slightly wonky and squeaking idler pulley. Thanks for the video.

    Great video, I definitely will replace mine as is making weird sounds and have the uneven wearing mark.
    Thank you!

      nice! mine got quieter for a while and then i started to notice another sound that was similar..but only when the truck gets warm. Pretty sure it's the water pump

    I’ve been hearing a clicking/ticking sounds in that same area and I’ve replaced the alternator and the pulley but now I think I got the wrong pulley size or something cause it’s still making the same sound

      Is the belt new? Maybe the pulley on the tensioner?

    The washer on the back of the pulley threads off very easily!

      The new one did, but that old one was stuck and it was cold in that shop so I didn't have much feeling in my fingers...or patience... haha.

    i have a 2006 ford ranger and my only 2 questions are do i need to torque the pulley after replacing it with a new one or can i use a normal wrench and if i need to use a torque wrench to re tighten the bolt???

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  Год назад +1

      Do you not have a torque wrench? If you don’t, I would get one. It’s not that expensive and it’s cheap insurance in case that pulley comes off while you’re on the road. The only thing I don’t really worry about using a torque wrench on is the oil drain. Most everything else I want to be exact

    How tight to the back of the pulley did you thread the washer?

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  2 года назад

      Can’t remember exactly. Pretty sure it bottomed out. It’s just meant to be a spacer if I understand correctly.

      @@rayregnogarage Thank you for responding. I did this job just today. When I torqued down on the pulley, it would not spin. Here the front washer (off the old pulley) was the thing stopping movement, not the spacer. The aftermarket pulley (Dayco) did not need the front spacer/washer. All is good now. Again, thanks for taking the time to respond!
