    THANK YOU for this exceptional tutorial!
    Giving oneself permission to play with a limited palette and even monochrome is so liberating. Usually where new painters give up is over color - a teacher telling them “mix this with that, add some of this, a little of that, etc.” It’s no wonder so many people say “I’ll never learn all this” and give up.
    You are an amazing teacher as well as artist. Sharing your knowledge is one of the most generous things a person can do - and I wish for you, in life, to reap the benefits of all this generosity.

      Margaret I love hearing ur insight and also you are right that color can be an intimidating task when it's confusing and not practiced well. Also - i find some are intimidated by a limited palette because they aren't sure how to showcase "everything". Thank you for being here and I m glad you found this video helpful!

    Ooooh I am definitely going to lean into some monochrome paintings for a while. You’re right, it takes the distraction of all the pretty colors out of the equation and really lets you focus on composition, light/shadow etc.
    I know this but when I pull out my paints I’m always giddy over the pretty colors but then also overwhelmed in deciding what to choose 😂

      Hahaha decision fatigue is real!!!! Even worse when going to an art store. Haha

    So many powerful nuggets of advice in one short video. LOVE IT. I am also just starting to discern light and shadow a bit more now after painting for so long! It's crazy what the mind or the eye wants to receive. And also starting to try to use just 4 - 5 colours in one painting (sometimes only) which only occurred by accident when Im testing out new colours I bought and wanna try using just a small set of colours. And its amazing the difference it makes. Maybe I will abandon my giant palette and instead just squeeze out colours i wanna use into a small palette and see where that takes me. Oh gosh. So much to learn and try eh? An artist's life is never dull.

      You are right it is alot to learn and try! Honestly I find the more I know the more i realise I don't.. I m glad u sat through this chat! Chats are the most tedious to edit. Hahaha I have been using a 12 color palette for over 4 mths now and honestly I realised I never need browns... 😅 🙃 or at least I don't use them enough to justify their place on my palette. Can't wait for u to go through the course too friend and hopefully you get some nuggets to add to ur own already passion filled art!

    I really enjoyed this video. Coincidentally this week I did a couple of blue monochrome floral paintings. I literally felt like I had finally had a painting breakthrough. So I totally agree with what you said. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. PS- Even your older paintings are beautiful!

      @brushmovement  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for noticing my older art too! Also - congrats on a breakthrough! Monochromatic paintings also really changed the game for me and its still the way I paint... I believe each flower i paint in a bouquet is still a monochrome painting in itself... here's to more small wins for u! Rooting for u!
