"Forget the Jedi. Keep your eyes on her." - This entire game summed up in two sentences

  • @thecatwhisperer2820

    Those two lines.
"Do you wonder where he wanders now, Mandalore? Why he gave you your orders, then abandoned you at the edge of the galaxy?"
    "How do you know that?..."
Gives me goosebumps. The way Kreia says it in such a powerful, demanding, yet soft and calm tone. The way Mandalore replies back. You can tell he's scared. Not in a physical danger scared but afraid of what the witch says and knows.
Brilliant voice acting and writing for a game.

1:35 Canderous is actually a fascinating character and Kreia hits the nail exactly right on the head here. He's built his entire identity around being a Mandalorian, dedicated his life to it, but his people were nothing but pawns in a larger war between the ancient Sith and the Jedi. Canderous is worried that the Mandalorians will never recover from their war, and that the peak of his culture is already behind him. He's desperately trying to cling onto an empire that has already fallen, and will never recover. His crippled body and scattered clans can only do so much, and we know it wasn't enough.

  • @thegreyjedi2372

Canderous being worried about Kreia is very telling. Forget the “You were the bad guy all along!” twist of the first game; Kreia’s reveal as the Sith Lord was, for me, one of the BIGGEST twists in gaming, if not ever made. This game, while unfinished, is amazingly crafted.

@Darth Sidious She specifically says she was once a jedi and sith. How both teachings just go nowhere. When confronting Atris, you talk to Kreia through holocrons that were her own sith teachings. How she hates them both. That's why she is Darth Traya, the Betrayer. She betrayed both jedi and sith to wipe out both sides of the force.

The tale of Cando is unfortunately a tragic one, it's sad to see that he, who has at the end of KOTOR realized that the old mandalorian way has major flaws and that they need to adapt in order to survive, reverted back into a stubborn war vet who still believes the old way right. Probably because Revan, who made him see the error of their past, abandoned him and without leadership, he fell back to what he knows, Cando is no leader, he's a Warrior.
Now all that is left is doing all he knows and try to fix his culture in his own way, thats why Kreia really got to him with her every word. Deep down he knows this is not the way

As Kreia said, redemption is a spiritual collapse few recover from.
I find the idea that a warrior should doubt war is as strange as an engineer doubting his trade. Inauthentic for someone to kill their entire life, but suddenly doubt it, because reasons. Sure it can happen, but the storytelling trope is overused. Every single war drama include existential doubt that civilians face killing for the first time. Not everyone are as squeamish. Some enjoy fighting. It sounds disingenuous when an extroverted person who choose war, and enjoys it, is "forced" to let it go and become this introverted recluse and pacifist. 😄 I don't believe that shit for a moment.

Even before that, he says that there needs to be more than just simply bloodshed without a purpose. His purpose was to rebuild the mandalorian clans. If that means he has to fight and spill blood to rebuild them, then so be it, but that’s his purpose.
There was no “redemption”, just a change of purpose.

Wait so if Kreia is subtly manipulating most of Meetra’s companions to keep her safe, then why does the council say that Meetra is a leader and attracts people to her? When in the context of this game, Kreia is the one practically keeping people loyal to the exile?

    • @PapitoQinn

I think I know. The exile as a wound in the Force unconsciously attracts other force sensitives. Mandalore is not force sensitive. But her naturally being a leader she still influences everyone around her, true. Mandalore has very strong ties to his people. Kreia wants to make sure that mandalore doesn't automatically side with mandalorians over the Exile (or knowledge of Revan) if it comes down to it. At least make him think about it. Make him doubt.

I couldn't help but think of how Kreia's words have echoed through the Force up until the time of Din Djarin, and the fall of the Galactic Empire. The Mandalorians have historically sided with the Sith and Empire, but Din Djarin is the one who could tip the scales. Through his heroic actions, he has brought the opportunity for TRUE REDEMPTION to the Mandalorian people so that their culture and way of life can truly be preserved as they can choose a new path, one where they turn to side with the New Republic and most notably, the JEDI. This is TRUE STAR WARS, where everything comes full circle.

@Gr8Sc0tt I didn't say they ALWAYS did. Just that it was an often occurrence and that they were not always on the best terms with the Jedi.

    • @a.m.9993

@Gr8Sc0tt Also, it's kind of evident and self explanatory that this support of the Empire by the Mandalorians does not include their rule under Duchess Satine but especially not the period after the Great Purge, hence why I said "historically." There have been exceptions where Mandalorian rivalry with the Jedi was resolved in positive ways such as with Tarre Vizla, the first Mando Jedi but by and large since the SWTOR era, it has MORE often than not been the case that they have only sided with the Republic out of selfish self interest and manipulative reasons NOT for the purpose of a TRUE alliance due to aligned values (granted that's been their way to act out of self interest but they have often willingly sided with the Empire/Sith/anti Republic entities due to like values). By the time of Din Djarin, I would say their people are truly broken (once again) having seen the results of siding with and trusting the Empire to the point where true change and evolution can occur on the cultural level within Mandalorian society, i.e., a turning away from their less noble tendencies under a new Mandalore and the start of a more genuine alliance with the Republic (although no one ruler can control every single clan).

Mandalore should never side with Jedi... or Sith. They are their own. This is the way.

@@PapitoQinn It might have been because the mandalorains would had been at strenght with billions in troops and ships the Jedi probably would have fought with the mandalorians against the Sith Empire when they did come. Of course those loyal to the Republic would never forget the Jedi let the mandalorians conquer the Republic.
I love to see that kind of what if. The Sith did not want that they just wanted both sides to be cripple but if the jedi did not get a chance to join the war it would had resulted into a strong mandalorian empire and military power.

There was also an easter egg in Rogue One where a "Hammerhead" vessel plunged into a Star Destroyer. "Hammerhead" was the Old Republic warship at the time of Kotor 1 and 2.
