Those round 2 charges were pretty illegal. You need to have line of sight with your intended target when you declare the charge, and no units have line of sight if they are not phisically on the table.
Ooh that was a vicious small action! As for the dice, I never use a dice that's just rolled high to hit for the wound roll - I mean, it's already done it's job rolling high, give it a rest so it can roll high again later. It's basic science* innit? *am not a dice scientist
Absolutely brilliant game the more I watch your battle reports on bolt action the more I am drawn to looking into collecting a couple of armies. Take care Terry
New to the game. 2nd game last night.y opponent plays British commandos. Do they have a rule that makes them exempt from exceptional damage. As my sniper hit his flamethrower I obvs chose the flaming gun to die but he said commandos have a special rule where he chooses not I who's killed. We are both new to the game and learning so clarification would be great. Great video too!!!
I was surprised you couldn't drive through the hedges. For that recce move, I would have driven the Puma straight past the AT gun on to the cross road. But, it escaped unscathed regardless...even surviving that legendary arty strike! That 3rd turn was a horror show. lol. Lots of fun to watch.
Not many battle reports are as good as yours. Great stuff of putting small tips of rules you are using like preparatory bombardment etc. great game and looking forward to see more. You guys definitely deserve a subscribe button!
Thanks mate - we actually realised after the game you can't assault from reserves.... boo! Well - we might have chosen to house rule it that way anyway to keep it exciting!
Smashing gentlemen! But I must ask where did you get the British officer with the umbrella? I am looking to put together a British para unit from a certain movie we all know and love and I need that office who just cant remember the password.
You can't, as Mr Bob Edwards comments below about page 132 and reserves...... But it made the game hilariously brutal by accidently ignoring that minor point 🤣.
Being a 40k player of 30 years I can say it’s great to watch a new game system I’m interested in being played. That dice 🎲 bag 💼 thing is savage poor Germans lmao 🤣 I’m guessing Russians are really good 👍 in this game
The Russians certainly have their strengths. The great thing about Bolt Action is everyone is pretty much the same, in a different coloured uniform. Yeah Soviets have more low quality infantry but this is a platoon level game - they also have great units and you can definitely play with those if you prefer.
Oh dear! That would have made quite a difference. Ah well - it was a lot of fun the way it played out, and we could have happily House Rules that one. Nonetheless - thanks for pointing it out. My bad - Kaiser
I think the idea in games turns, is that once you get into hand to hand, it would be basically a fight to the death,( or that in real life men you flee). There would be grenades/bayonets/shovels and all sorts.😲
@@rich_john Yeah, just seems a little weird, especially as it ignores the roll to kill that gunfire has. Maybe it's just a tad to effective at this scale, but aslong as everyone is having fun, it's all good. Our club hit a bit of a wall with that rule, especially with Japenese armies.
Great vid although I think you messed up the rally for the Puma. When you rally you always roll against the base morale stat, so 9 for your Puma, and if you fail you go "Down" the same as any other order.
When the medium mortar took out the 6pdr did you measure the range as it looked like it was less than 12 inches away. If that was the case then the mortar couldn't have fired due to being within minimum range.
You might be right but I don't think so. There were 3 of us in the room and no-one else mentioned it at the time and I would have thought they would if it was. Camera can be a bit deceptive with distances & perspective and all that. Might have been too close, but as I say - I think someone would have noticed at the time if that were the case.

True fact. Still.... Hope you enjoyed the mayhem!
For sure, we got this one wrong. Nonetheless, both sides were not unhappy playing it that way and it was a good laugh.
Your also not allowed to declare assaults as you arrive from reserve
Fantastic game! Probably the most gore I’ve seen in a BA game! Some serious clubbing!
Sure was a brutal one.
12:08 There's no movement penalty for having to hump about 2 cwt of Vickers gun, tripod and ammo?

I tend to agree, although Wooly Mike's system of re-rolling the successful ones did play out well for me.
Is assaulting from off table a house rule? Didn’t think that was allowed RAW?
Not so much house rule - as forgot the rule - but it was a lot of fun to play it this way. If a bit silly...
Oh that’s understandable, there is a lot to remember. Very entertaining none the less, thanks for the upload :)
@@Noxious47 thanks mate.

It has its flaws, but it is a simple clash & bash.

It's possible, but I don't know of it. Any unit rules are written on the unit card.
Didn't want to call them cowmandos?? Wasted
Noted!

Most kind sir! Glad you like them.
29:27 I would go for bayonets with mortar in the command xD (I attack first because they have no cover and it's 3v2)
Cowmooflaged Cowmoondos, brilliant choice of unit.
Highly trained unit mate ;)
Fantastic report. Love this type of close combat brawling. Learned a lot from this. Thanks for putting this out.

Great game and always a good board to fight on. I didn't think you could charge from reserves though?

@@jbatchelor85 oh defo. Funny game to watch
Just finished the battle and OUCH with the barrage from British, how many 6's 😂😂😂

@@ModellingforAdvantage On the plus side you both used the same rule variation and it made for a brutally entertaining game
Great game, tho I'm not convinced by the rules, especially that assualt rule! Seems a bit iffy.

@@memorarenz so do you play it as you roll to hit on 3+..... Because that's the bit you don't do.... Just rolls to wound, just like shooting.
This game was especially assault heavy because of the closeness to the reinforcement zones - with both players coming on from any edge...

Brit player didnt get his ambush shots in turn one for being hidden .... either way, great batrep
I don't remember for sure, but I htink he had that option, but chose to put his dice in the bag instead.
