Not all the jeeps were wrecked. The 'special' jeeps with the twin machine guns were ambushed en-route to the bridge iirc.
Attempts to fire a captured Japanese 'knee' mortar by bracing it against the knee resulted in a broken leg, apparently. The strange scoop shaped base was for jamming it into the ground.
Great video👍. I know what you mean about templates potentially adversely effecting team weapons on diorama bases. But to be fair the guys have to be within 1" of the mortar so can't spread out much anyway....but the benefit of templates comes with your infantry units. You now have the choice to spread out a bit, to make you more survivable. In V1, a unit got hit with 3/4 x D6 from a heavy howitzer etc, it was very dead. So didn't matter if you were spread out or in a tight formation. I think its better now in that respect and troops wouldn't really run-around tightly packed.
Rifleman with flamethrower could be a runner and leave the flamethrower out of the scenario.
I do believe that the 6pdrs arrived by glider.
If they had all the real life people modelled on the actors in a bridge too far I’d never play anything else
Great unboxing! Seems to be on par with the US Airborne one, just infantry. Nothing wrong with that. This is a fanstastic starter.
I don't think I've ever glued my fingers together as many times as I did when building that 6pdr...
Great unboxing as always Kaiser/Johnny B. There was definitely at least four 6 pounders at Arnhem 😁👍🏻. Flamethrowers are bullet magnets 🤣
Lol. Holy sheez balls! Still laughing....
6pdrs were modified to be loaded into a glider, which also made the jeep towable.
John Baskeyfield won a posthumous VC using a 6pdr Anti-tank gun at the battle of Arnhem knocking out several tanks. He was a Lance-Sgt in the South Staffordshires, part of the Airlanding brigade, they had 6pdr Anti-tank and the light 75mm American Howitzer amongst their equipment.
IIRC the 2" mortar was a platoon level weapon with the PIAT.
Been eyeing this kit for a while..thanks for the wonderful review dudes 👍
I've looked at this kit a few times really great review and unboxing
I've got all of this already by buying it separately over a couple of months last year, but this does look like excellent value for money. They remain on my pile of opportunity right now, their time will come! Great unboxing vid, thanks.
Fun video! Thanks for reviewing the kit
Painting the Denison Smock camo is going to be 'fun' :)
Road to Berlin allows you to upgrade Mmg’s to do d2 pins, about 80 points apparently. Nice unboxing.
Fantastic unboxing guys thank you. And yes I always take a mortar in my army's 😁🤔
