    Playing as Canada, we get access to Stubborn on regular troops. Plus we get free fanatics against SS units. I keep most of my units as regular

    I mostly agree with you regarding vehicles. However when I play my Japanese army I do run a Veteran Type 97 Chi Ha or a Type 4 Ke Nu tankette. Most Allied players don’t bring serious AT weapons as the Japanese tanks are laughably bad in an AT role. But these two tanks are great anti-infantry vehicles being armed with a light howitzer for the 97 and machine guns for both. Having a super cheap veteran vehicle specializing in anti-infantry work will really put a dent in an Allied players plans. They are effectively mobile machine gun nests immune to small arms fire. Now when they bring a Stuart or something heavier, then you tend to play a bit of a cat and mouse game to avoid that laughable 37mm gun that can actually hurt you. But I’d rather he chase my tank and leave my infantry alone.

      Yeah tankettes are a sleeper hit unit. Also don’t break the bank when upgraded to veterans

    there was one time i managed to secure an objective from turn 2 iirc.. with my US veteran airborne squad. It was an 8 man squad with stubborn, getting pounded all the way until the end of the game and ended up with 6 pins and 3 men left. They just refuse to die. This is why i use vets with stubborn to cap, having a regular squad wont help. Also having vet bazooka or sniper team in a building will make them harder to kill because of +1 to veterancy when in building. While i think having Vets as transport is actually applicable so you can get your troops deeper into the map without being killed even before getting to their drop off.. but of course the point cost is better suited for something better.

    My mind tells me you are right, but my heart tells me my veteran B1 bis and I can take on the world. Real talk though "Veteran" + "Armoured All Around" can make for some nasty stands, indirect fire be damned.

    Hey, Hollywood!
    I’m very new to the game (I’ve only played 2 matches). For the most part I’m running veteran Waffen-SS and I really enjoy running them as veterans. I hadn’t thought about leaving open topped vehicles as regulars. I just got a Marder III and a SdKfz 222 and plan to run them tomorrow so that will save me a lot of points. Thank you!

    • @HollywoodWargaming
      @HollywoodWargaming  3 года назад +3

      The 222 is a great vehicle, just make sure to make use of that 48” range and not get too close to models who can assault you. The Marder is hard to use. You need a lot of luck to strike first. If your enemy rolls a hit on you it’s done for. This one really requires you to make use of range to make sure you don’t engaged

      @@HollywoodWargaming hey, Hollywood. Can you do a video on how flamethrowers work? The way it’s written in the rulebook is kind of confusing. It looks like you get D6 shots, and then for each hit you roll another D6 to see how many wounds? Can a flamethrower do 36 damage?

    • @craiglawrence5978
      @craiglawrence5978 2 года назад +2

      @@MaliciousMallard nah, you roll 1d6 to hit. On a hit, you do D6 auto hits, deal damage, inflict the extra flamethrower pins, then roll a morale check. Your flamethrower then rolls a D6, on a 1 it’s out of ammo. Hope this helps! :)

    Light Howitzer and AT guns are worth taking as veterans, as they are "front unit" more chance to survive is good thing (and is not so many points). Thanks to gun shield they will die at 6+ from small arms. Also Stubborn is a lot too cheap (+1 point) and is more useful than fanatics (for +3 points).

    Yo are definetly right with every Point in this Video. It is very Important to stress out that Nobody should ever consider taking a Veteran tank exept for american Tanks. They are one of the most useless pointsinks next to 3 man Officer teams. But an American veteran 105 howitzer Sherman can hit and deleat infantry squads on a 2+ if you Drive next to them.
    Your opinion on Veteran infantry is also very spot on. They are great but you will lose a Game if you can only field 3 squads. My Advice is to take Veterans for Special Missions like capturing Mission Markers and bolster your overall infantry strengh with regular or maybe Inex. Troops. Always remember that infantry wins games Guys!

      I completely agree with you. He does a great job explaining everything. While someone before said that it s not worth taking fanatics , I am not fully with it. If you need to secure a spot and possibly fight melee with someone fanatics are the way to go. Again! Great video and can’t wait for you to do the Polish faction review

      @@tomaszpulsakowski3512 I think that the fanatic rule is very good, especialy on the japanese but if you take Veteran SS or SAS with Equipment they often get way to expensive.

    My whole army is veterans (apart from the tank) because I play Italian Bersaglieri. The Bersaglieri in real life are very elite troops that were all trained marksman and wouldn't have had any inexperienced or regulars in their ranks. Also game wise the Avanti Savio rule pretty much forces you to take veterans.
    Hopefully with the new Italian campaign book coming out October this year the Bersaglieri will get some rules to represent them being elite rather tank just veterans. Also new army rules to.

      Interesting, Avanti Savoia has made me go the other way and take as many infantry units as possible to try and get that morale adv.

    Hi, I play Japanese and I was wondering if the fanatics national rule applies to calvarly units. I'm unsure because the cavalry unit is taken in an "Infantry" slot in the reinforced platoon. Thanks!
