    There are a lot of reasons to love the 2022 Kia Sorento. If you live where the snow falls, the standard heated wing mirrors are one such example. What else is great? How about the styling, the available features, the powertrain, and the price? This Sorento SX-Prestige lives at the top of the trim ladder, but it costs thousands less than many of its competitors. See what Matt Smith loves (and doesn't love) in this week's video review.

    It's hard to find someone reviewing cars willing to point out the little negatives and be realistic covering all good and bad. Have humor. Have fairness. Cover little often missed details. You did it all. Great job!

    Just got back from renting this bad boy. Loved every second of it! AWD and great intuitive controls. Factor in the warranty and you got a winner. Drove smooth had plenty of room on the inside for four six foot adults.

    With my last kid going to college I have to face the reality of being an empty-nester, so driving my luxurious Telluride SXP AWD on primarily local streets achieving a dismal 18mpg is no longer practical. However I do not feel ready to downsize my car in terms of passengers capacity. With this said the Sorento PHEV with 4+2 seats I am currently driving fits my needs perfectly. With the Federal tax credits it is a good buy as long as you can find one. I am a car enthusiast so I grabbed one quickly when the stocks started to surface at dealerships last year.

    Did you go into the radio SETTINGS, to adjust bass and treble, systems always come with all settings set in the middle of ranges which always sounds bad. After adjusting treble and bass properly, it wakes up and sounds very good.

    Those infotainment icons need a color variety. Lack of wireless ACP & AA is a supplier issue. Even with a 3rd row this is only a 6 seater. I would go with the Hybrid.

    I'm in Canada so the Sorento SXP is our SX, and we get a few more niceties. That said, my Sorento SX (Wolf Grey) arrives in three days and will be the perfect fit for our family. With a single little one and a dog the space provided is perfect. For my wife, who is new to "luxury" vehicles - which for the price this vehicle definitely borders on, save for a few areas in material quality - the Sorento is a game changer. And for myself, a car guy who loves the tech, performance and amenities of modern vehicles, I couldn't ask for more for my money - except wireless Android Auto, which is available on a base Kia Forte. Yes, I know there are vehicles that do better in a given area than the Sorento but, on the whole, the Sorento is a class leader (imo) and under priced for the feature set. Having driven most of the competitors for extended periods of time - my wife and her family own several car dealerships and I have friends with others - the obvious choice, for me and my family, was the Kia Sorento.

    The hybrid is something I'd like much more personally (not the PHEV the regular). Also no mention of Kia's worst reputation right now of mark-ups over MSRP, tends to be at least 8%. My local one says 4k extra on all their Kia models, what a rip off.

    I say stay away from this truck. I brought a 2021 Kia Sorento SX X-Line Prestige AWD. My transmission went out in 6 months. What adds insult to injury, Kia didn't give me a loaner, so I had to purchase a 2nd vehicle. They kept my truck over 4 months and replaced 3 transmissions. I had to go through the buyback process, which took forever. But Kia's consumer affairs were totally not trying to help me. All their Edmund's reviews let you know that the transmissions are going out in these trucks. Don't believe me? Go check out the reviews from consumers. Beautiful truck, but a sour lemon. Save yourself the headache and stay far away.

    • @Mikel-et3ho

      Same exact trim, same exact story here. 6 months. 10,600 mi complete transmission failure. No loaner offered. Kia corporate finally agreed to reimbursement only of upwards of $45 a day. Borrowed my dad's car instead. Repair took 87 days due to backordered parts..... The difference here and you still have time. File lemon law claim against them. That's what I did for keeping my car more than 30 days. You may or may not meet eligibility that way depending on how long each repair took, but since you've had a replace now 3x you'll meet eligibility that way. Kia is giving me a brand new 2022 at no cost here in another 15 days. I just turn in my current vehicle that now has 11, 200 miles on it and basically for my troubles drove the car for free for the last year. At least get a fresh start.
      Alternatively they offered me $5,500 to keep the car, or offered to buy it back at $44k. I chose for them to replace instead, considering I could always sell it as soon as I get it and it will be worth more than 44k.

    This will be a great car. . . for the first 50,000 miles. It has a GDI engine and those engines are notorious for burning oil because carbon builds up killing performance, and gas mileage. Trust me, stay away from these vehicles.

    • @Mikel-et3ho
      @Mikel-et3ho 2 года назад

      It's not marketed to people to fit adults back there continuously. I bought one and use the 3rd row for my German Shepherd. If he just stands in the cargo area of this or another SUV he walks around continuously and gets thrown around with stopping and turns. In the seat with a little dog cover on it though he lays down and is comfortable. Also have a 2-year-old and another baby on the way. I keep cars for around 5-6 years and when they get out of their car seats that are in the 2nd row captain's chairs They can sit back there until at least 10 yrs old and by that time I'll have sold the car.
      Have had 4-5 adults in the 3rd rather thus far, including myself when my wife was driving. All on about 1 hr drives to avoid having to take 2 vehicles. Definitely wouldn't be comfy to ride back there for any more than 2 hours but I could tolerate it for a little bit. That's all it's meant for.
      Alternatively fold the third seat down and you have a huge cargo 4-seater SUV If you just need a tab bit more room.

    • @atomicrancher3745
      @atomicrancher3745 2 года назад

      Every reviewer tells you the 3 rd row is not for adults. If you need an adult sized 3rd row,you’ll need to up size. Put the 3rd row down and you have a roomy 4 pax SUV which is the perfect size for some of us.

    • @BeeRumblin13

    Kia past infotainment was much better. Like Hyundai, they've cut corners in every area now that they've achieved market share. Other than technology and structural safety my wife's 10 year old sonata has superior build quality and materials in every way.
