I have had a kia soul for 7+ years now. I'm looking to the sorento for a update. My kia has been so awesome for me, can't wait for the new chapter. Thanks for the review!! Love kia vehicles
I was at the Kia dealer last week getting an oil change and saw a couple of these on the lot. I knew they were coming out with a redesign but didn't realize they were already out. Pretty slick looking in person!
i bought a new 2021 sorento x line black with the rust interior and i love it. i looked at all the other companies. jeep was too expensive and smaller, chevy blazer and ford escape were too expensive and had horrible build quality (gaps and cheap plastics), dodge was a dodge and i would constantly worry if a dog pissed on my tires i would not be able to start it. the domestics have this take it or leave it attitude and the really nice features are only available on the most expensive trims while kia has it standard even on the base. Kia also has lots of different interior color options whereas the domestics have only a couple. At 44k the Kia was the best equipped for the price and the warranty is the best i have ever seen. it rides great and the best part is the chimes that happen to be annoying on other vehicles can be deactivated on the Kia. there are things i would change or options i would like to see added but it has more options and better features than the competition in my opinion. Features i would like to see added: heated and cooled rear seats twin turbo charge V6 option (from the stinger) visible tow hooks in the front dual exhaust built into rear bumper velvet lining of the glove box and console container (makes the stuff moving in the containers quieter) heads up display substitute piano black for wood or leather trim also on the steering wheel (like the K900) larger storage container underneath rear cargo area i think i ask for more i will be making the telluride irrelevant but i am happy to hear any comments or suggestions from anyone else. :)
That’s a pretty gorgeous suv. Better than a Jeep/Dodge/Edge/Equinox etc- gas mileage, cost, maintenance, warranty, practicality, standard equipment... KIA/Hyundai brand are doing their thing.
I wonder why Kia didn't just make the Telluride a large SUV to compete with the Tahoe or Expedition rather than have both it and the Sorento in kind of the same size category.
Yes. Agree or not, Santa Fe is the closest cross shop to Sorento actually. Edge, Passport, and Blazer come later. But the closest competitor really is Santa Fe, even if it is within the family.
99 percent of people cross shopping cars watching Doug's videos......"My budget is 50k, oh; hey Doug's reviewing a 3 million dollar Ferrari, I better check it out"........
I know my aunt is looking at this car because she only has 2 kids so she doesn't really need a third row, but sometimes she drives car pool or kids friends with them so I think it having a third row is a pretty good thing even if it is small
Doug, I normally agree with your scoring but I think that was a very handsome suv, at least in the way it was equipped and I think you should have gave it more credit.
haha yeah and that's why we love him! BTW a group of fans created a fan page to share favourite vids and memes on Doug - you can find it on facebook under "DougFans"
I like how Doug says affordable, when there's no way I could afford a car like that one, not even if I try saving money for a thousand years, with the poor income I get here in Mexico, but at least I could watch how cool that SUV looks in the video
I’m a fan of Doug and he certainly knows his shit but when he reviews vehicles for the everyday person he just seems bored and starts to make fun of the car/truck he’s reviewing. He’s happiest reviewing cars that most of us can’t afford.
It's always weird watching americans talk about how the Sorento is a "mid-sized" SUV, and how it's just a smaller, affordable version of the Telluride. In Austria, the Sorento is the absolute top end of Kia. There's no bigger car available in their entire lineup, plus the Sorento in Austria is priced exactly like the Telluride in the US. Crazy!
That's my exact same thought, but on the other hand there are bigger SUVs like the Range Rover Vogue, BMW X7, Mercedes GLS or even the Telluride and so on, which are considered as "full-sized" so anything lower than these are considered mid-sized.
Australia will soon get Palisade, very soon in fact. And that is the equivalent of Telluride. So, Sorento won't be the largest SUV in Kia/Hyundai family, it's hardly a weeks away
@@fawzee_em Telluride isn't considered a full size SUV in US. It's more like a mid-size 3 row SUV with Sorento being the "smaller" 3 row SUV. A full size would be something like Ford Expedition, Chevrolet Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia or Nissan Armada
- Honda Pilot/Odyssey is also very easy to get into the third row with a simple press of a button. - Hiding the rear wiper is one of my new favourite perks. Why? two reasons - 1. The plastic won't sun-fade like others do; or if its metal is exposed it won't rust up as fast. 2. NO SNOW CAN SIT ON THE ARM/BLADE causing build up and not fully wiping the window. As for how much it covers, other SUVs, some even larger than the Sorrento don't even wipe that much of the window. - Honda also has the turn signal camera but only on the passenger side and it's HUGE under the mirror. - as for the switches or whatever for the climate... When have you ever went from LOW to HIGH in the same day? If anything you increase a few degrees. I don't see what the true issue is with this. I still love how far Kia/Hyundai have come. They update their vehicles, reasonably prices, etc.
I think I bought USA's first available 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid. Had to go to Pennsylvania to buy it. Very good gas mileage, consistently over 40MPG without effort. Very nice for the size, and I love all the safety features. This car can drive itself on highways, turns the wheel, speeds up and slows down automatically, and can read over 40 kinds of road signs along the road. I consider it a poor man's tesla.
Doug be slippin. I was looking forward to seeing the panoramic sunroof on this thing - it looks massive and extends almost the third row. Disappointed he didn't showcase it - it seems like a huge draw.
I just got a 2018 sorento sx today for my wife & the full length sunroof was the selling point, it opens half way! (Not to mention it only had 8,574 miles on it.)
I'm saying this on basically every American review of this car; I have seen multiple reviews of this car from around the world, where a 6ft+ reviewer fits in every row, including the third, behind themselves. A 6ft. tall Korean reviewer fit in the back with the second row set ALL THE WAY BACK. Granted, Doug is even taller but its telling that no American reviewer has given the third row a fair shake.

And it's can be split screen, which is an awesome feature.
Exactly my thoughts. This screen is class-leading
He's talking about good cars.

Kia Sorento: Big Ass SUV.
Doug: CrOsSoVeR
Well. It's a midsize crossover. It's not body on frame and is smaller than the Telluride which is also a CUV.
SUV is not about size it is about the frame of the car. Toyota 4runner has body on frame so it is an SUV but the bigger Ford explorer is unibody so it is a crossover.
@@baronvonjo1929 kia xceed is a crossover. „Crossover cars“ are basically a crossover between compact hatchbacks and suvs. The sorento is neither of them.

I have been watching your channel for the last couple of months and I think you are one of the best car reviewers. Your videos are so detailed and amazing. Your channel has grown a lot and soon it will grow bigger! Thanks for all of the knowledge I've learned from you. Keep it up Doug!
I love these reviews Doug! I've got a Kia Soul right now which I love, but once it's paid off im looking at either getting a new Sorento or Seltos. Ever since I got my Soul I've decided I'm sticking with Kias
I went from a 2016 Kia Soul to the 2021 Seltos SXT AWD Turbo and don't regret it.
Dude, those blind-spot cameras are amazing.
As a motorcyclist, I am rarely more skeeved out than passing someone who seems distracted. Blind spots are real, and if they can put a camera on me before merging lanes, I'm all for it. Great idea!!
Doug: ''Mid-size''

I have had a kia soul for 7+ years now. I'm looking to the sorento for a update. My kia has been so awesome for me, can't wait for the new chapter. Thanks for the review!! Love kia vehicles
It's nice, but I'm still saving up for the Telluride

i bought a new 2021 sorento x line black with the rust interior and i love it. i looked at all the other companies. jeep was too expensive and smaller, chevy blazer and ford escape were too expensive and had horrible build quality (gaps and cheap plastics), dodge was a dodge and i would constantly worry if a dog pissed on my tires i would not be able to start it. the domestics have this take it or leave it attitude and the really nice features are only available on the most expensive trims while kia has it standard even on the base.
Features i would like to see added:
heated and cooled rear seats
twin turbo charge V6 option (from the stinger)
visible tow hooks in the front
dual exhaust built into rear bumper
velvet lining of the glove box and console container (makes the stuff moving in the containers quieter)
heads up display
substitute piano black for wood or leather trim also on the steering wheel (like the K900)
larger storage container underneath rear cargo area
i think i ask for more i will be making the telluride irrelevant but i am happy to hear any comments or suggestions from anyone else. :)
And here in India we are having kia seltos as kia's flagship suv
This is nothing. Check Kia Telluride
Yess finally. The new Sorento looks pretty badass. Thanks for reviewing it Doug. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

Still not user friendly.
I saw one on the road, and was like what is that. I thought I saw new cars first on Doug's channel
SantaFe is a rival to sorento? It’s like arm wrestling against yourself 🤔
Yes. Agree or not, Santa Fe is the closest cross shop to Sorento actually. Edge, Passport, and Blazer come later. But the closest competitor really is Santa Fe, even if it is within the family.

Doug, I normally agree with your scoring but I think that was a very handsome suv, at least in the way it was equipped and I think you should have gave it more credit.

Looks like it has a full panoramic sunroof when he's driving.
I was surprised when he didn’t talk about this. Generally the only other SUVS who have this are land rovers and he didn’t mention it in a Kia????

I know you have cheap gasoline in the US. But the 2.2lt diesel is a great engine. 200hp and 325 foot pound of torque.
I like how Doug says affordable, when there's no way I could afford a car like that one, not even if I try saving money for a thousand years, with the poor income I get here in Mexico, but at least I could watch how cool that SUV looks in the video
I saw one of these while driving past the kia dealership today, and I didn't know what it was lol. Was driving my telluride too

Kinda miss the good old sedan days... nowadays it's SUVs everywhere you look -.-
I bought a brand new Kia Forte SX in 2011 with all the options 24k new and it was the best car I ever owned. Kia has come so far and is a great buy.

@@itxofficial8281 wait a couple of weeks and u will know.
Somebody breaks into dougs house... Doug: THISSSS... is a 12 Guage Shotgun
I bet he's got an 8 gauge shotgun just for fun ;)
Here in Europe the Sorento is Kia's biggest offer. And a fully loaded plug in hybrid (which have a 1.6l petrol engine) cost around 65k.
NOTHING WRONG THE BADGES. DOUG'S OPINION IS EXACTLY JUST THAT.
its not badge. its the engine. new smartstream engines are one of the worst engine ever produced.
Kia almost pulled off some Bugatti Chiroņ headlights. I wonder if that was intentional 🤔
9:00 the new Sorentos I saw on the lot had a little sticker down at the bottom of the hatch with an arrow showing where the release button is hidden.
When Smartstream G is funny how about ecoboost? or Earthdream
Our family’s first mid size SUV was a sorento
