The Palisade is set to be redesigned next year, and this new Santa Fe allows the Palisade to move upmarket, into the $40-60k range, and add a little more size, to match the new Pilot and Grand Highlander
Im sure it has been commented on already but the Sanitizing tray you reference at 6:17 is not the aforementioned tray, it is indeed the compartment about that the the door opens on. That tray that is pointed out is just a storage shelf.
When you realize how many features and perks this thing has, its actually great value for its price. I think anyone with kids and the finances for it, would see this as extremely appealing.
I personally believe the hate towards the three Korean brands is a little over-exaggerated. Now that's not to say that they don't have their issues, but generally speaking, they still have come a long way and are certainly competitive despite what some may say. And part of that is down to the designs of their vehicles. They're distinctive on the exterior, yet they're contemporary on the interior and that's what I think a lot of people look for.
I just traded in my 2013 Azera for a '23 Santa Fe (I don't like the new one's styling so I bought a leftover new '23 model). Lol, Doug complained about the lack of modifications of the gauge cluster screen and then 10 seconds later explained the EXACT reason why they have decided to not being able to modify the right and left side of the screen , since that is the place where the mirrors pop-up.
@@paulgemperlein626 Well from a UX perspective, it is, whenever for example you expect to have your ACC distance on the right side at it's suddenly not there, that could be a big issue. You can't just randomly change around UI, which the user explicitly puts in a certain position.
@@gombally if that were true then it would be a problem to have the mirrors pop up over the gauges. It's pretty reasonable to have the mirrors take precedence only when using the turn signals. Fantastic, in-depth review as always. I love the boxy, armour-look styling. After seeing one or two of these on the street, I was happy to learn all about them.
Doug cracks me up with comments like " The screen is a little small for its class" or " the back seat moves a little slow" . A 12.3" screen is class leading for an ICE last I checked but if it is small I would love for him to reference who has makes it bigger for an ICE at this price point. Also stating a motorized rear seat being slow is about as pinky up as you can get - for this price point who else has motorized captains chairs Doug? Lol
It’s because of the aspect ratio that the screen feels small. The screen is 12.3” diagonally but much wider than other 12” screens, so it feels smaller.
I do agree with Doug about slow seats making it a generally worse experience but idk what the heck he was talking about when he said the screen was small.
I'm so glad that Hundai is making what would typically be just about the most boring type of vehicle on the road actually eye catching and interesting.
Love the new Santa Fe. I had to do a double take on the freeway when I first saw one. Gorgeous styling. Hyundai is really putting out some of the best cars nowadays.
You could borderline call it retro 90s styling in grey color. Its so squared and metallic. That light color is this very particular shade of transparent red that reminds me of old toys growing up.
I don't know that I'd call it ugly. I'd definitely call it distinctive though. First time I saw one from the rear I thought I was looking at a Range Rover or something until I noticed it say Santa Fe. So I mean you can really only mistake it for a Rover. And once you're aware of it then you know it is a Santa Fe at a glance. So fairly distinctive.

Just started working at Hyundai and the 2024 Santa Fe’s are being recalled because their transmission are giving out at 1k miles. Just a warning to everyone who may want one. Update: Some are kicking the bucket at
From everything I've seen and read, it's the 8 speed DCT transmission in the non-hybrid that has the issues. The Hybrid uses the same 6 speed in the Tucson and I'm not ot aware of any issues with that one.
@jibjibmonkeyman99 NOT true. The transmission is not failing on its own. There's a software glitch that controls the parking pawl which in turn messes up the transmission. The software is telling the pawl to work when it shouldn't and vice versa. I bought one and love it, but when tested fir the problem, it was discovered the transmission failed because the software was effed up. As if today, my car was at the dealership for five weeks, when I received word just today that is ready for pickup tomorrow. Was I happy my car with only 800 miles was effed up, no, if course not. But Hyundai Motor Corporation came through. I love everything about the car, especially the 2.5L turbo. 😉
@@maryannsmith1148 I never said the transmission was failing on its own, I said they were failing. Also 5 weeks is a very long time for something that should’ve never even happened if the manufacturer was more thorough. Glad you enjoy your Hyundai but people need to be aware of this problem.

Welcome back Ford Flex
To me, it looks like they were trying to mimic the Chevy Tahoe design …
Not that it really matters, but the UV-C cleaner is not the tray just above the glove compartment. It's actually the "upper glove box" that uses the UV-C light. One of the most gimmicky things I've ever heard of in a car, but hey, to each their own.
That's modern Korean culture in a nutshell, just one big gimmick.
Up there with the built in vacuum in the Honda Odyssey.
Quirk of the year
@@tenkarabadger5244the vacuum is not a gimmick. Imagine never having to lug the vacuum out of the house to use in the car or having to pay to use a public vacuum at a car wash!
They were designing this car during covid. I don't really see how it's gimmicky because UV light does kill germs and bacteria. And your phone general has a ridiculous amount. More than you could imagine. Our phones are NASTY lol
If you spec the interior with aluminium trim instead of matte black, you can see more 'Hs' in the pattern of the AC vents as well
I personally believe the hate towards the three Korean brands is a little over-exaggerated.
What's the 3rd Korean brand? I only know of Hyundai and Kia (and I suppose Genesis which is just luxury Hyundai)
@@ram89572 Genesis is still a brand though. It’s like Cadillac is to Chevy.
I just traded in my 2013 Azera for a '23 Santa Fe (I don't like the new one's styling so I bought a leftover new '23 model). I never had any issues at all with my Azera and the Santa Fe has been great 4 months in. My dad has a '15 Genesis G70 with almost 200k miles on it and he never had any issues with his car. Maybe we're just lucky, but the cars have been good to us.
@@craigt6707 And that's nice to hear.
There’s three? (Genesis doesnt count- thats Hyundai)
The previous Santa Fe was offered as a 7-seater in Europe actually, we had a few of them at my prior workplace 🤔
I loved this design ever since I saw it for the first time. Those taillights are showstoppers
I saw it in white on a KDrama on Netflix, Love Next Door, and it looked pretty cool, so I came to check it out. Very informative video. Thank you.

Great video Doug.
Did anyone else notice that this video came out the same day Hyundai out a do not sell order due to airbag issues?
I kinda like how it looks tbh, specially from the back it's so different from what I used to see from SUV's
The back is the worst part
I saw a lot of these on the road in Miami this past week.
The rear taillights caught my eye every time.
I never thought the Santa Fe would look like that...I'm SO glad it does!
I like almost everything about it.... i just cant get passed the rear lights. Everytime I see them, I think 1st gen Previa.
Geo Metro, too.
Agreed. Cars with red indicators are unroadworthy.

@fajareraim6136 From Autoweek: "The new Santa Fe gains 1.3 inches of ground clearance and is 2.5 inches taller and 1.7 inches longer overall (190.2 inches)."
Additionally, the boxier design adds additional space at the front and rear corners
@@fajareraim6136 I'm 6' and can barely put my arm across the back. Doug is much taller than most people.
Lol, Doug complained about the lack of modifications of the gauge cluster screen and then 10 seconds later explained the EXACT reason why they have decided to not being able to modify the right and left side of the screen , since that is the place where the mirrors pop-up.
The gauge cluster screen of Santa Fe looks like Lexus LC300.
Mirrors would always override. No reason it can't be customized when not using the turn signal
If it's really a concern, then only allow non-critical things like music, navigation, etc but I don't think it really matters.
Got one as a rental. It was great. It stood out in a good way. People couldn’t believe it was a Hyundai. Drove nice. The brown interior was great looking.
Fantastic, in-depth review as always. I love the boxy, armour-look styling. After seeing one or two of these on the street, I was happy to learn all about them.
It looks like a big, square, fancy Nissan cube

seeing many of these around these days and i like them, all colours seem pretty distinctively nice in its own ways.
As a parent of two young kids, the sounds of nature feature is awesome. Built in sound machine.

Hyundai Designers: How ugly do you want the rear end to be?
Hyundai Corp: Yes
I think the rear looks cool, although I understand it is controversial
You could borderline call it retro 90s styling in grey color. Its so squared and metallic. That light color is this very particular shade of transparent red that reminds me of old toys growing up.
Not as ugly as your mom
I love it lol
I don't know that I'd call it ugly. I'd definitely call it distinctive though. First time I saw one from the rear I thought I was looking at a Range Rover or something until I noticed it say Santa Fe. So I mean you can really only mistake it for a Rover. And once you're aware of it then you know it is a Santa Fe at a glance. So fairly distinctive.
I like it and I give credit for thinking outside the box. This is certainly not boring but nice interior materials too
7:59 bruh it’s not dual Glove Boxes the one on top is the UV sanitation box that’s why you didn’t see a light cuz you can’t have UV out in the open. Hopefully this helps.
