Wife had a RAV4 for a loner while her Subaru Crosstrek was in the body shop for a month after somebody ran into her. She didn't like the way it drove. Although the seats were a little more comfortable than her Subaru, I thought it was excessive legroom in the front and the cargo area wasn't much more than her Subaru. When I drive my pick up and my cars, I have the seats all the way back and all the way up. The ride was much rougher than her Subaru. I never got used to the wife's transmission because of the CVT but the transmission in the RAV4 seem to be hunting for gears and rough shifts. Sorry it's not on my top-ten list.

I'm still partial to the Mazda CX5. I own a 2020 Signature. I test drove everything and it easily stood out. I worry about the hybrid battery costs if the powertrain fails after most 60,000 mile warranty and those CVT's. Around $3000-$7000 for a new battery makes me cringe. I guess too each their own. The CX5 does everything well. Sticking with it.

I was thinking the same but then learned that they took that engine that should be very easy to work on and made it completely unworkable for anyone.. to do any engine work other than an oil change the engine has to be removed this is because they put the timing chains and all other components including the turbo behind the engine... WTF! And then there's the hybrid system that's such a disappointment that they had to put a separate starter for cold starts 🙉 the whole thing is just sad.. I wanted that inline 6 so bad but looks like I'll have to look elsewhere

For cars that are as good as the Rav4, ALWAYS get the "tweaked" model, as in 5th generation and NOT the "new" one... JUST in case there's something wrong with it. NEVER buy the 1st year of a brand new model. You'll be stuck with the most problems { problems get worked out over YEARS and eventually they get solved, or as solved as the manufacturer wants them to be} but if you get the 5th or 6th model year of that generation, all of the bugs should be worked out and you will be as safe / set as possible with the fewest problems.

Test drove a 2023 Rav-4 and the hybrid version. Prior, I had a FJ Cruiser for 15 years - never had a problem with it. The issue with the RAV is even in the premium trims, it looks and drives like a truck. The hybrid was a smooth ride but they were asking $8,500 over MSRP. I ended up buying a 2024 Mazda CX-50, Meridian edition. I love it.

I was originally excited about the new RX until I sat in it. I wanted to replace my GLC with the RX. I felt I was in my 2017 Camry. I am not sure why Toyota went the other way on the RX for interior quality feel. Also, the rear legroom is pretty much the same as my GLC. I was hoping for GLE legroom. I would like to get the Prime, but long wait. Maybe I’ll just order (if I can) one and wait. One thing I didn’t like about the redesigned RAV4 for 2019, why did they put the gear shifter on the passenger side. 😊😂. And to top it off, standard yearly maintenance is almost 3 times more than that of the 2016 Suzuki. Just so odd. Ok, fuel economy is lots better on the RAV as that's not full time 4WD and is hybrid. After looking at all the new stuff--- I'm tempted to buy a USED LEXUS GX470 or 460... and YES I know they're gas guzzlers- but I won't be out that much- and when I do- I want to go where I want to go with NO issues--- and the GX will OUTPERFORM any jeep. Theyre also documented to go over million miles.. and are HIGHLY customizable. I like the Mazda CX-50 for look- and the CX-5 for performance-- but neither is good on much but wet roads or normal driving- even deep snow is hard for them. GX can go where a jeep can't- and if it gets really bad- turn on the lockers (I'd have front and rear lockers installed ) and air down and go.. can't do that on these low things... SO I think I'm going to just get a lexus. I know two coimpanies that RECONDITION them and have good prices on selling. Mirramr in San Diego CA- goes through them and does reboots, checks any linkages, electrical- everything-- and since most of theirs are California vehicles- NO RUST.. so that would be great- and they have them ALREADY lifted with stuff I want done!!! I purchased a 2023 Pilot and have had it for about two months. I am a Honda loyalist and have driven nothing but Hondas since 95. I have had two Civics and two Accords. However, I did have an issue that arose with my 05 Civic which was a head gasket issue. One of my coworkers had the same exact issue in an 04 or 06, I forget what year. I can chalk this up as a glitch in that generation. Other than that, I have had no major problems. I just traded in a 13 Accord with 262,000 miles on it. The main reason I got the Pilot was because it still has that V6 power. I prefer the power, so I just deal with the gas prices. I detest that many of these companies have gone mainly to a 4 cylinder or the turbo charged 4 cylinder engines. I just can’t see having this small engine in something the size of a Pilot. I would have gotten another Accord but everything is either a Hybrid, 4 cylinder, or 4 cylinder turbo. I love the handling, comfort, space, and look of the Pilot. This generation they went back to the boxy look which looks great. The 6 has a lot of oomph to it as well.

Don't buy a Highlander. Bought a new 21xle and it may rate as reliable if you can stand the road noise and metal so thin it dents if you press on it. Also, Toyota puts no insulation in the door chambers contributing to more noise. Shame on Toyota.
