The hardcover has change my whole concept of making low content books. I think I will be using them all the time. More homework!
This is a real game changer. I've been flat out all week uploading hardcovers. I can't wait for Q4. Good luck everyone
Thanks, you too!
Having a hardcover option is great. A spiral option would be better. 2 of my friends said they love spiral books cause they are easier to open, lay flat and write in.
I love spiral lined notebooks.
Yes, but we have to remember that KDP was never intended for low content. We're using KDP for something that we are adapting to fit KDP, not the other way round. There are companies like Lulu that make spiral bound. We are able to publish on KDP for free, to me that is a huge advantage.
I agree with you. I think they would be a game changer for notebooks and journals, and I wouldn't need a lot pf persuasion to convert my future books to spiral with hard covers if it made sense commercially.
@@TheHomeBoss hardcover books is more expensive..you don't think its an inconvenient?
@@samividhod I explained it in the video. I don't think it's inconvenient at all. It's a different product.
I love hardcover.
Thank you Nuria, Very good information. I converted 2 of my paper back books into hardcover when it 1st debut and the review was completed a couple of days before the paper backs were so the "Look inside" is still not available. Only been doing this for about 7 weeks now and really enjoy it, hopefully the sales will start coming in since my campaigns are now getting impressions. I do thank you and several other KDP publishers for all the information and tutorials on RUclips that made this process so mush easier. :-)
Thank you very much for watching Dave! All the best on your kdp journey.
I saw the hard cover option pop up in my account the last time I logged in to publish my latest book (a monthly planner for 2022), and thought, Oh cool! I can make a baby memory book in style now! :) I had also thought about blank cookbooks, something I've used in the past myself. That was as far as I got on that line of thought.
Thank you for all of these wonderful suggestions! So many ideas I'd not even considered yet. Right now, I'm working on my first puzzle book, but it's slow going. I guess the first time is always the hardest. Lol. Puzzle books are definitely soft cover, but I love that there's another option now! Loved your video; thank you for sharing!!
Very inspiring comment good luck.
@@spiritual005 Thanks! :)
Good thing this option came out when im just starting kdp, I’ll just upload both options from now on
Gratitude journals, bucket list journals, guest books and anything where you track your habits. They can get tattered and torn quickly.
I've seen people on Amazon saying the corner of their book cover is folded over. Some people are also saying the pages are ripping out easily.
When you push back the soft paperback covers and try to lay it flat, it can look worn out fast.
Thats why i am reducing the number of pages in my paperbacks now.
Thank you for the mention. Some really great ideas for Hardcover books.
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
This was so insightful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Blank recipe with gloss 6:03 Wedding plañner journal | baby book | guest book | appointment book | business ledger | fitness & medication logbooks |
I just created my first low content book a week ago (and it just happened to be a blank recipe book) and all the white I was wishing that I could make journals in hardback; so I'm really excited to learn that it's now possible to do so. I have a question about interiors: Do you know how I can create my own quote pages in a format that is acceptabler on Canva?
Thanks for this, Nuria! It's got me thinking about which books I could make hard cover.
Another point about your comment at the end - it's better for people to ask questions in the facebook group because then many more people can benefit from the answer, compared to you spending time emailing back individuals.
That is a very valid point! Thank you Jessica!
Thank you so much! Useful content as ever. Do you know are the pages sew or glued and how much it can open?
The pages are glued. They don't open completely flat, and doesn't stay open (only towards the middle), but it's pretty good compared to a paperback, it's much easier to write in it. It's the kind of cover where the cardboard at the spine is as thick as the front and back covers, and it's a flat spine which is not flexible. And it's a pretty thick cover, about 2.5mm.
@@annabellak.2864 Thank you so much!!!
@@OliveraK you're welcome. ☺️
I like your videos, they are very informative and helpful. I have published 14 low content books on amazon kdp. How many books should i publish for my first sale? Please guide me
There is no number that will guarantee a sale, it all depends on the kind of books you create. Keep making books and improving your skill and find a niche that you know so that you can make a book that people will find helpful. In my case I think I had 30 books before I made a sale, if I remember correctly. Wish you all the best on your kdp journey.
Thank you so much
Thank you for the video and tips! A newbie to kbp here learning. Great news indeed! Do you have a video showing and reviewing the actual printing quality and options Amazon offers? My concern on starting this business is how can I ensure quality is good enough?
I assume the advantage of hard cover books is there is a lower chance of covers being bent /having flaws through production phase?
I haven't made such a video personally but I know there are some on RUclips already. We are just the author on Amazon so quality control is not something we have any influence over. However, you can see how many books are sold on Amazon every day, I don't think it is an issue. One thing to consider is to adapt your business model to Amazon's capabilities. I know a lot of people complain for example that Amazon doesn't allow us to make spiral bound books. Well Amazon kdp was intented for pulp fiction novels and similar and we are adapting what they offer to publishing low content books. So there will always be limitations but it's free to publish and that to me is the biggest advantage.
Just to add in a little, to record my chess games as I play them I like simple cheap paperback or spiral game record books or sheets, but to keep copies of my favorite or best games, I've actually bought hard cover game record books for them.
Great idea, thank you for sharing!
Your videos are so helpful. Thank You for sharing this. I have never had an account on Amazon to sell anything and now thanks to you I know that I can have more then one kind of book on kdp. Sorry to ask another question but as someone who is not a seller yet and is still researching how many books of different niches is a good starting point? Sorry if that question was a video you have done in the past I am still researching and I have not listened to all the videos about kdp. I like the planning ones although I don't know if that is considered a niche. I like helping people be more productive with their day to day but also special occasions, work life, etc. And I really like the ones that you talk about that are good for hardcover and I am thrilled that is a option now on selling low content books. Again, sorry for asking another question.
That is a difficult question to answer as it can be different number for different niches. In general, the more variety you have the better, because then you can see what works for you.
@@TheHomeBoss Very good point, Thank You.
I am so happy they released the hardcover option for everyone! Finally! I was worried it might not be available in time for Q4, or Christmas, or even this year.
I'm so excited I can now share videos and photos of my hardcover books and notebooks I published recently, and in time for Halloween! One of my books is in the horror genre, while others are for children, and it's so exciting I can offer hardcovers to readers. They will make great gifts. 🤗🤗🤗
PS: I've posted two videos already that show the quality of Amazon KDP hardcovers, if anyone wants to check them out. 🤗
Yes but Spiral books should be an option considering Amazon is the biggest publisher, it don't make sense
The pricing of the hard cover cost on amazon is very expensive. I published one.
It's more expensive than paperback but it's not too expensive. If it was too expensive, people wouldn't be buying them.
What is your advice on e books , when do you know if to convert a paper back to E book?
As I produce mainly low content books, they cannot be converted into eBooks. But if you produce children's books or long content books, then you can choose whichever kind of book you want to produce, paperback, hardcover or ebook.
May i ask a question that's a little unrelated please? :) What is the best paper choice to use for drawing on? ie for puzzle books, drawing books and such.
Amazon KDP only offers these paper choices: kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G201834180
@@TheHomeBoss Yup, i understand the options they list. Curious which of those options are best for coloring books and such. Thank you.
Thank you very much Nuria
You're welcome 😊
The thing with hardcover books is that the minimal number of pages are 76 pages, making a kid picture book that has that many pages is quite hard
Most low content books have more pages than that, but you are correct that children's picture books are not suitable for hard cover for that reason.
Great Video & Great opportunity to us. I want some help from you. I have been working around 7 months on KDP. I already published 400+ books on KDP but not impressive sale till now. I only earned $86. Can you please review my books and say where is my fault? If you want i can send you my author name. Please reply, i am waiting, Thanks.
Hi, I hope someone can answer my question about selling on kdp. Is it possible to sell more then one kind of book on there; like selling low content books as well as selling other kinds like selling a novel on one account?? I read that it is not a good idea to try to have more then one account (I was reading different blog posts I found by doing a very quick search online) so that is why I am asking. I have never tried to sell on Amazon period so this is all new to me.
You can only have one KDP account but you can publish any kind of books on one account.
@@TheHomeBoss Any kind? Like low content books along with fictional ebooks??! Awesome, Thank You for replying so soon.
Hello Noria,
I am honestly in desperate need of your help - My KDP book cover at times shows white lines on Amazon once approved - This was not the case when I initially uploaded it …I have even gone back to review my upload and none of the lines appear ….I have also contacted KDP directly and am still waiting for a call back.
Please be so kind to advice me as to what I can do to prevent this from happening…
Thank you in advance for all your help!
It sounds like your pdf needs flattening. I'm guessing you created it in Canva? If so, download your cover as a png, upload it again to Canva and then download again as a pdf. This should flatten your image. It's a bit of a roundabout way of doing things but it works. You can also flatten your pdf in other design software.
Thanks Nuria
How many low-content books can I publish in one niche, please
Can I do a hardcover for my children's book?...my book its only 32 pages(
No, unfortunately not. The minimum page count for hardcover is 75.
Thank you so much , Could i use hardcover in no content book
You could, yes.
thanks a lot.
Can I just ask is the Page turn left to Right , Because I thought a normal Page Turn would be Rights to Left , I'm confused
Yes, it is confusing but it's left to right.
@@TheHomeBoss Yes I think it should say Page Read., because you do actually turn a page from R to L Lol
I put a lot of work and love in my books, but I'm afraid to price them well because of the printing quality. I used grey elements (boxes, lines, dot grid) in my planner and log book designs and they seem problematic to print. In almost every book of mine I've ordered so far, there were different amount of either faded colours, streaks, or missing parts, like the ink was running out. Anyone had a similar experience? Is it just bad luck? It's quite discouraging. 😔 I wonder if I should design just strictly black and white, but I find that so limiting.
I'm surprised and sorry to hear that you had that experience. A lot of my books have different shades of grey and they have printed fine. I wonder if it is just a coincidence and your printer had problems? Or maybe you have created the grey colours on Canva by using the transparency, Amazon seems to have problems when books are created that way.
@@TheHomeBoss Thank you, that's reassuring. I hope it's just a coincidence, and that's what I meant by bad luck. I often read other people's reviews, and though I've seen shocking complaints, nothing like this.
I'm sure it's not the setup, because they are repeating layouts, and only half of the books printed wrong. And I pay attention not to use transparency (I use Affinity Publisher).
It's just I feel like most people, who buy these books, don't know that these errors happen because the whole process is automated so noone checks the printed products, and that they can talk to Amazon support about these errors. They don't even know Amazon prints these. They just think they are scammed, which is frustrating, and I feel for them.
Thank you for your informative videos, I still have a lot to learn. Take care. ❤️
What do you think is more profitable and worthwhile, low content books or Ebooks?
That's impossible to answer, both can do well if done right.
Thanks!
Thank you sooo much! I very much appreciate your support!

1 Corinthians 15
King James Version
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
