Budget makeover for a NBS Silverado

- #uglytruck was a bit difficult to drive at night with the original headlights being faded and filled with water, plus it looked pretty nasty up front, so this weeks project on the 2000 Silverado was refreshing the front end with a new set of headlights, marker lights, and adding fog lights to a truck which didnt come equipped with them from the factory. Plus, I add a custom bowtie emblem to the front end to complete the makeover.
Uglytruck started with the idea that I would rather have a truck that is mechanically sound than one which looks perfect, so I picked it up with a blown transmission and got to work. So far, its had a 4L80e swap, been re-geared to 4.30 with a truetrac, has a 2/4 drop, and a few other cosmetic changed which make it a bit less ugly, while retaining the faded and dented up exterior. some other changed to come include adding a ton of power to the 5.3 LM7 under the hood.

Looking good LT
thanks!!
This video is great. I may have been guilty once of using the window screen, 😉😁😁😁
I was a bit nervous for ya - I bought some off Amazon for my 1500 Silverado but they ended up being too big and not fitting. Looks great!
it did take a little tweaking to get the pins in, but not too bad overall
Awesome truck!!! I have a 99 I'm doing a lot of the same things. Love the vids
Right on!
Great learning video for me as a novice wanting to upgrade my 2000 Silverado to add fog lights and tow hooks, looks fairly easy to cut the holes and prep with the bumper off, a little extra work but seems to me its the way to go. Thanks for the video Sir.
Love the look! Can’t wait for some smokey burnouts though 😎
You and me both!
Please do an in depth video on the wiring also there is harnesses on Ebay with relays already wired in
Really enjoying you videos. There’s a relay you can add to make the low beams stay on while the high beams are engaged.
I just grounded my low beams.
That’s illegal
@@nomoneycarguy5398 you are incorrect - it very much depends on your local laws. In my state you can have four lights on at any given time per the TRANSPORTATION CODE, TITLE 7. VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, SUBTITLE C. RULES OF THE ROAD, CHAPTER 547. VEHICLE EQUIPMENT, SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL, PROVISIONS, Sec. 547.001. That’s why factory cars that keep low beams on turn off your fog lights when you activate high beams.
Where do I find those odd phillips head plastic clips that hold in the grill? I can't figure out a part number broke one of mine due to poor shop repairs. I had blew a trans line due to no flare on new Trans cooler. So I had call a friend who helped me flare it. Really enjoying the build I saved my late uncles Truck it had 3 minor front end accidents.
Mine being 2 wd also it doesnt have tow hooks so I went hmm and added a second set of lights it really changes how valance looks..Luckily mine were already fully cut out same for my Dad's silverado I didnt know they came closed up ...
Nice looking headlights LT and If I was you I would save the old headlights for Truck Tech
2002 tahoes and saburbans got a nice front lip its like 45$ at Chevrolet dealerships it looks good
Did you use or add factory wiring and switch for the fogs? Or go with a custom setup?
Thanks
haven't done either yet to be honest, but I want to get em wired into a stock switch, I just don't want to have to visit the dealership to get the BCM programmed
@@LawrenceTolman The stock switch is momentary and not a latching switch. So you'll need to get the BCM reflashed or look into getting a latching relay. Keep up the good work! 👍
I put the same headlights in my 2000. I paid $60 bucks for mine. I bought them off a guy on Marketplace who bought them then totaled his truck so I got them for a good price brand new. How hard is adjusting them? I think mine need to go up a bit as they are shining down on the road.
What a waste of perfectly good blinker fluid
I was always told about headlight fluid I've never actually seen it
Hey LT, Love your videos. I would like to add fog lights to my 2003 Silverado 1500, and was planning to use the stock switch even if I have to visit the dealer to flash the BCM. If you haven't wired it up yet, please do a quick video to show how to connect the fog lights to the stock wiring harness and BCM.
good idea for content, I havent even wired mine yet...
@@LawrenceTolman did you do a how to video with them yet?
How did you wire the fog lights and great videos.
Is there anyway you could put a link for the headlights? They look killer

It’s appreciated!
Throw an HD hood on it too.
6:55 AMAZON? WTF is this not an LMC Truck sponsored channel? 😂
Just Kiddin. BTW, that truck would look awesome murdered out. The Headlights are a good start.
Can you provide the link for the fog lights?
The music kinda rocked at about 4:16
thanks! i used that song a time or two, but thought it was a bit heavy for some
Whats next? HD hood swap? 👍🏻
hopefully yes, some day. but more power is next on the to-do list
Hhhmmmmmmm... I have a 2000 Tahoe that I'm looking to do some changes to... I like that hood idea
Looks like someone over filled the blinker fluid
You should've showed the bowie in action
This is the GMT800 1999-2002, GMT900 started in 2007.
Id rather have weather tight lights so i dont have to replace them.
Those plastic fog lights will snap right off soonish, won’t even survive 1 car wash machine trip.good luck,😂
I still haven't wired em up, but they're still hanging in there and its been about 14 months...
@@LawrenceTolman I went through 3 sets, before I abandoned them, I guess I’m a little rough on the truck tho 😂
I have a 2002 with the same style fog lights, the OEM ones are plastic too, never had problems with them breaking off at the mounting bracket. I have replaced them once, they tend to lose the clear lense. I applied a bead of JB Weld glue around the perimeter of the lense to make a more secure bond as the lights tend to vibrate a bit which causes the lense to fall out.
Fucking music sucks. I know copyright shit, But truck guys don't mind tool sounds...
