This isn't even a joke. My office manager (a woman) got a quote last week for a new bathroom faucet to repair a leak. The quote was over $700. I went out on Saturday and fixed it in 30 minutes for $37 with a faucet from Home Depot . I always thought this was just a joke, but it is absolutely real.
Actually, it's stories like that that MAKE this a joke. if situations like THAT never happened it wouldn't be relatable, but you go off! :D - Also, you're a mug if you charged them anything less than $300.
It goes $150 to call out the service tech, $425 for labor, $75 for materials, $115 for overhead, $110 contractor's profit = cost to customer
The irony is fixing a leaky faucet is usually just a bad seat/spring which is like 3-5$ for a set :)
@@christopherthomas9041 Not if your Django is unchained.
Mark, I hope you bought the right time correct faucet.....
If not....
You might have to charge more....🤣
“Y’all see the Django is completely unchained?” 😂😂😂
Laughed so hard at that one 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
I had to pause it 😭😭😭😭😖
i lost it there 😂😂😂😂
My favorite line!
“2 and a half star contracting” 🤣🤣🤣
Got the shirts and everything lmfao!
Lol, didn't even notice the shirts.. For real they should sell some of these items as merch. It would be fun to wear and you'd have instant connection with people you run into who get the joke.
" I think we can get this done, with just like, an air filter? "
Two and a half stars is really great for a Michelin guide rating.
@@justinmyho5235 I would definitely buy the merch lol
I remember when I had a flat on my first car and they said I had to replace all my tires because they’re all 5 years too old but my car was nearly brand new 😂
The saddest thing is when someone buys a new car but the tires were manufactured over 5 years ago. The dealer probably switched them. That dealership got reported to the car manufacturer.
i would told 'em... "well put some "new" air in 'em then"
Auto Mechanics doing part time as Construction Contractors, these guys seem super pro!
Next time look every tire as the date when it was made it’s right by “DOT” it goes week year (3217) that tire was made on the 32nd week of 2017
Depending on how Oldman worn down the tires are u can’t just put on 1 new tire add the car would not be in balance.. at least that’s the logic behind it. It’s not always necessary though
“You’ve got AI” had me unconscious lmao
I love the word vomit they come to at one point lol
Do I know you from somewhere?
I’m an independent contractor and this exactly what those companies do
And contractors/self employed trades people as well. They know exactly how long it will take them and they just hand out ridiculous high quotes. I know of an electrician who made 1500$ in a 6 hour day in labour!!! He knew exactly how long it will take him and he knew exactly what the materials would cost... it is the Wild West around here right now. On the upside: if you are honest, reliable and do good work you will have more work and happy customers than you can ever handle. Minimum wage is 15$/h and the average income 25$/h.
Confused Human Nikki is the best, because we've all been there. Also, dealing with my mechanic taught me that I need to learn more about my car... Can't blame him, I'd try get an extra few hundred bucks out of me too.
Reminds me of when the tire shop advised me to replace rear shocks on my SUV for $370, since they were "about to fail." 200k miles later they still good!
“You got AI” 😂😂
Flashback to Mechanics Be Like😆
But Stevie is missing😒
Having been a contractor, people often think that you are like this, even when you are not.
But, when you are honest, they still ask if you give a discount for cash.
I always told them that I didn’t, as I always paid my tax on it.
If you don’t put any cash through your books, the tax office notices, and can end up investigating you closely.
I did have one job I went to, which I was told had a fault on the boiler (furnace).
When I checked it, I found that a part had been intentionally loosened.
I realised that it was one of those rogue trader TV shows. After all, the family had seemed too perfect, if you know what I mean.
I explained to them what I had found, and that I had reconnected the wire.
I said that I wasn’t charging them, as I realised that it was a setup situation for a show.
They were surprised, as apparently I had been the only engineer, that had reported the correct fault.
I thought anything that I charged them would look bad on TV, so I thought it better to take the loss.
I have no idea if I ever made the Final Cut of the show or not.
you got a pat on the back and a "have a nice day" award. But good job.
D-D-D-Django is COMPLETELY unchained. Ur gonna need at least 12 Roto-rooter American Dad ties.
Had to do an HVAC inspection for a house we were selling and the guy told my wife that he was going to shut off the heat since the system had an “outdated” exhaust pipe. Can you imagine that? Middle of winter! 2 little kids too. He tried to scare her into have work done. Fortunately I made a visit to that HVAC place and all of the sudden “sorry, new tech blah blah “.
This can actually be a scene in a netflix movie, really good
Omg it’s Montez from workaholics😂
I love your work Nikki! Great stuff!
At 2:39 the dude says: that asbestos, and then the other guy says: it's moving, you've got an AI... meaning it's "Asbestos Intelligence" ... Hahahahaha.... 😂😂
At 2:31, reference to the movie "The banshees of Inisherin " has been made... That was ridiculously brilliant... 😂😂
At 2:24: Danjgo is completely unchained... What...!!! 😂😂😂😂
This is the truest thing I've seen in awhile.
And the Django is even unchained!!😂
Know of an electrician who made 1500$/day in labour (thats getting close to 200$/h). They give people quotes knowing exactly how long it will take them to do it. We had a guy hook the gas line up (from a small BBQ tank trough the wall right to the stove). Took him 20 min and he charges 400$. I am guessing the materials were around 35$. But hey, he needs to pay for that new 100k truck right. And it took him 10 min to drive to us from his place so I mean it all needs to be compensated.
Finding a good contractor is harder than finding a husband.
Yes, we are about to build another house and I am so glad that we have the skill to do it ourselves. Finding somebody is hard enough but finding somebody decent for a fair price is almost impossible. But it really opens up opportunity for business if you are reliable and fair you will have more work and happy customers than you could ever handle.
1st Comment.
Comment from India. I found this channel during COVID pandemic here in India. Been lovin' it ever since. Love from India Nikki.
Old wine, new bottle. This is basically that garage sketch. Even the actors are reprising their roles. Last time it was a shawshank issue. Now it's a django issue.
That head jerk at 3:24 is so apt. It seems like the dude in glasses is lamely trying to prevent himself from getting recognised by her husband/bf..
Got the shirts made and everything lmfao!
LoL!; I can completely relate...because I hate contractors. I feel like every fucker who could barely graduate highschool is now, magically, "a contractor". Like my external keypad dying on my garage opener a few weeks ago....Contractor comes out, says the pad and motor aren't talkin', and a whole new motor is needed. I ask how much; he goes....about $600. I ask how long it would take....."a couple hours". I said fuck it, I just won't use that keypad.
@@DuffyGabi agreed. It only takes like 10-15 minutes (if you’re going slow) to program a new remote/pad to a garage door.
This is pure gold!🤣🤣🤣
GC / property manager here. Funny but the accuracy isn't all there; accurate would be three contractors, one tells you $5k one tells you $20k and one tells you $50k for the same job, all with a straight face. Just this week I saw quotes of $10k and $40k labor for the same job. And big-timing / mocking the customer over lack of the tiny corner of knowledge they happen to specialize in, dead on.
Around here a contractor are shooting for 100-300$/h
@@fabiancanada8876 Yeah it's silly. I'll even pay $100 for HVAC or plumber if I'm in a pinch and it's not a huge job. More than that no, there are skilled guys for mechanicals who will charge $65-75 and lower, and less for work like drywall and framing. If I can tell a guy is not happy with that I just keep looking.
@@debunkinghistory214 Minimum wage around here is 15$/h and there are a ton of people working for it. I do understand that it is a job and that you have less responsibility, less risk, etc. Still, you have to keep that in your mind. An average salary is around 45,000/year so that is around 25$/h. Also keep in mind that a lot of the trades people have cash opportunities- this counts almost as double. So making 50$/h cash is like making 100$ gross. Yes, you better not be in a hurry if you need somebody to do some work for you
Sadly contractors are a lot like the repair shops and mechanics of my industry (automotive):
Deceptive, inaccurate, and flat out overcharging for what’s needed. The work is often piss poor to shoddy. I’m the one everything comes to when the first places screw it all up. 🤦♂️
Back on topic: Nikki’s acting and editing is still top shelf! ❤️ 🙌
As Joel said, everyone loves contractors
Hilarious, but at the same time too true...
If you don't laugh you'll cry! This should become a psa. And required viewing for all homeowners.
Next target for Nikki: Doctors. You think contractors are bad? Hohoho!
😂 she already as a la doctors sketch
@@Henesseyjones Great! Thanks for the tip!
I have multiple scans to prove that they are way worst.
@@poudelsan3980 I don't doubt it one bit, even without seeing your scans. The truth is that medical malpractice is the nation's deadliest "disease", and the Medical Industrial Complex is an even greater waster of resources and human life time than the Military IC.
@@poudelsan3980 how does it work in the US? In my country, when a doctor asks for a scan, the money you pay to get the scan goes to a completely different doctor
“2.5 star contracting”
Back in 09’ lol
My coworker had to have a minor foundation repair in his basement. They used like 5 bags of quick concrete mix and it took 3 people 2 days of labor and they charged him $13,400. And they didn't even clean up afterward.
I heard of a guy who quoted a a price for a new concrete foundation. The material cost were 20k (concrete, rebar, excavation, insulation,...). The contractor just texted him via cell phone with a total of 40k. Thats 20k in labour and 3 guys will do that in 3 days. It is absolutely nuts.
This is relatable, applies to mechanics too.
At 1:06, the guy is laughing like an animated coyote.. It's fucking hilarious... 😂😂😂😂
u keep on getting even better!!!!! that one is sooooo true!!!!!
She was absolutely right on one thing… cross pumps ARE expensive….
Literally dealing with this situation now. womp womp.
At least the shawshank didn't need redemption this time, this would have been even more expensive!
Everybody knows whenever you have "asbestos" that you definitely "got AI" ... 😂😂😂
"That's a wrap! Bottle it up!"
Awesome callback to the mechanics video! Hilarious.
Did not expect to see Erik Griffin that's awesome!
this is the damn truth
"you got a AI"???? XDDD
Amazingly but sadly so true and so well performed! Outstanding
😂😂😂😂
Keep it up
Former subcontractor here; this is practically a documentary.
Nikki skits go hard
Good to see Montez
It's cool that you got Erik Griffin in this
Love it! I cant find u on rumble though. Im weening myself off youtube
This is why you get three estimates and only hire by word of mouth.
oh damn u got erik griffin to do a skit! nice
Your gas line wobble.
The issue with contractors is that you always call me for one issue and then tell you have 20 other issues that needs to be fixed and you pay them and the end the initial issue isn't solved and you end up paying thousands of hundreds of dollars.
Good shit 😂
I guess you could say she's OVER-acting (especially the fingers-to-the-lips fearful looks), but THAT'S what makes it hilarious! 🤣
Brilliant.
Holy shit, that's Montez from Workaholics. Hell yes!!
Contractors are like....
anyone else.
so when your favor leaks all over the ceiling below does your friend insurance cover the repair
You know, they’re completely right
ouch
Montez?! Nice!
It’s hilarious because it’s so true 😂😂😂
This exact scenario but at an auto repair shop
What makes this scary is that seems like anybody can pull this off
She is doing a public service with this bit. This happens far too often and people get scammed by these companies, particularly women.
Attic joist 😂
F**K this one hit home.
YOU GOT AI O NOOOOOO🤣
I see that contractors and mechanics are all the same no matter the country 😂
You guys are ridiculous 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My mother's worst nightmare, too bad my dad wasn't a building inspector 😆
You're other dad might be though
So true 😬 ♡♡♡
Hilarious and sadly true to life
This is a useful video for spreading awareness of this, despite being comedic. Recently I was interested in repainting some parts of my leather car seat, the guy quoted me 1k and explained how you have to do the whole seat plus the other one so that you cant see the difference, and that there was no way to simply paint them because if you didn't put some more chemicals the color would last for only a few days. I said thank you because it was ridiculous what he was saying, bough special leather for 15 bucks and repainted what i needed. That was months ago, you can't tell the difference and it is still like the first day. Should I give myself the 1K since that's what he would have stolen from me? Lol
NFT strands😭
some of these subtitles are doubled 😂
Is that Eddie boy ?
This is amazing.
Brilliant
Lol
Brilliant!
Whoever does the captions needs to unchain their Django.
Yup car mechanics are the same way with women, as soon as a man appears who knows something about cars the money vacuum disappears.
Its Tez!!!
Erik Griffin!!!
We can fix that with a filter and masking tape….
Nikki! Don't hire those guys!!
somehow people think that plumbers/electricians/painters (contractors) can be honest or scammers but they fail to realize that scammers can be in ANY field... including doctors. So please stop saying "bUt ThE dOcToR sAiD...." incompetent people won't admit if they're incompetent. Or just trying to scam you for your money.
Yeah but around here (Nova Scotia) it is the Wild West for contractors (electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters) right now. You are talking 100-300$/h it is absolutely wild.
Gold !! 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Since 2009 seriously 😂😂
Been a rough day. I needed this. Your shit always makes me laugh. Love from NE Ohio🖤🩵🖤
Just go to the mechanics or worse, get your oil changed.....
