Logged into RS3 for the fist time in years a few months back. Was in the wild killing Revs with my Kiln cape on. Saw a ghost ive never seen before, only said ghost and level 138. Attacked it and was skulled, naked dude popped out and one shot me.... Lost my cape and all my gear lmfao.
Me and a buddy always talk about something like this in oldschool. a second "wilderness" south of the deserts or something. But we also liked the idea of very rare skilling resources mixed in, like a huge mountain covered in agility obstacles/puzzles and full of high level aggressive pvm, maybe you can avoid some of the pvm with slower paths, and at the top of the mountain is a single tree you can cut bark from for high level skilling. Could make it team based by assigning defenders to buy as much time as possible for the skillers to cut the tree. I know it sounds a little over the top but we always thought a dense and dangerous new wilderness would be cool.
Games beautiful but everything else sucks , it just felt like a wow clone except with more grinding and a clunky combat system. Why couldn't jagex see they had a unique combat system

It'll make wildy more visited for sure, which is exactly the point. It'll also help supply some of those drops in game and make things like summoning contracts more affordable (ripper demon, kalgerion, etc)
@@Yourpolice69 there are roaming bankers, plus we can use tons of diff methods of banking with yak or magic notepaper. It'll make it more easily accessible and incentivizes it more with wildy slayer.
A good update would have been content that made the wilderness more engaging and rewarding for risking pvming there and addressing core PvP mechanics that make it elitist. Destroying even more history of the game and ensuring one type of player never returns to Runescape is anything but "good".
I was there when the revenants came and I was happy. No more ambushes when going for quests or clue scrolls. I am here when they remove PvP again. I shrug, because I rarely have any business in Wilderness anyway. Well, I guess I could legacy those revenants in any world now.

Yeah, this seems pretty fair, speaking as a non-PvPer. As long as they have special worlds where the Wilderness PVP is ALWAYS ON, I have no problems with this. I do kind of miss having DarkScape around - the content made on that game more was pretty damn cool.
There's no reason to have a world deciated to it... you opt in or out of PVP. If you want to do PVP turn it on and go into the wildy it's just that simple.
I mean, unless they give a higher drop rate, I see no reason to do this over the priff slayer master personally, but I have 120 slayer on rs3 and haven't played in a while, so not sure if slayer is good for money anymore lol
Pretty sure that green ball that did 75% of your hp was a random event that will spawn randomly as your threat level goes up. Kinda acts as a random rusher. Wonder if it can be prayer blocked.
For the ones that aren't aggressive like Abbies you can just take aggression pots lmao. You have to check back every 5 mins anyway and those last 6 minutes.
I remember going to Chaos Elemental with two clanmates. Right as elly was about to go down, we got ambushed by revenant orks. My teammates made a run for it but I decided to finish the kill. I ended up with dragon 2h and a lucky escape. Not a bad loot at the time.
It's actually harder to afk in wildy post update cause of the threat system now. The volcano and the random ass mobs coming for you are way more annoying than seeing the odd pker every couple of hours (if that)
Initial thought is mixed. One one hand, It'll put the final nail in PVP coffin. Besides minigames, there wont be anywhere to Risk pvp. It's also weird that a decade ago so many people flocked back to runescape just to vote for the wilderness to return to it's former glory, only to have it revert again. On the other hand, pvp has been really dead anyway. I could usually run in wilderness with full gear and be confident I would not lose it 90% of the time. It's probably just nostalgia kicking in, and this might be a great way for RS3 to return the wilderness to some of its former glory. I guess time will tell.
Playerbase changed alot with release of mobile. So many people that just want to play rs while on work, taking care of kids,cooking dinner (yeah casual but very different casuals than in good old times). Imo this suits those people much better.

The people who stuck with it started really getting into pvm and then Jagex reinforced this with releasing so many great PVM bosses over the past decade and basically (rightly) ignored pvp. I have no idea why anyone who only enjoys pvp would still play rs3 so the playerbase are all pvmers or skillers now, wildy had no place in a game like that.

The reason searing ashes are so expensive is due to how difficult it was to avoid pkers so maybe they need to change it still so you can only attack them on task or with a wilderness skull
Haven't played RS3 in like a year but it just sounds like a huge relief for farming stuff like aggression potions and rev drops/wildy slayer etc. so I don't have to worry about PKers anymore Obviously they made the wildy more dangerous in many ways but even though you might only see 1 person per hour when doing stuff in the wildy it was still pretty stressful, even if I wasn't risking anything lol. It was just permanently engrained in my brain that I was always afraid of running into players in the wildy, so many scary moments in the wildy way back in the day when I was a kid

dont be excited for drops worth 90k or so, there's a reason that 10-12m rs3 = 1m osrs :) t90+ gear is 500m baseline, but good gear is 2b+ for just base set no switches

Yeah my feeling from playing RS3 last year is that almost no one likes PvP or PvPers and are happy to see it go. If I was still playing I'd probably be happy about this change as it just means there's basically no threat when doing mundane repetitive stuff in the wildy like abyss RCing or catching salamanders or growing bloodweed. I wonder if doing divination in the wildy still causes you to be marked for PvP, because if not then I would do div in the wildy as well.

That anything you are doing in this giant open area you can instantly die from a pker is the entire charm and idea behind the wilderness it's meant to be something that puts you on edge. Even though the wilderness is not super active in osrs every single person in there including all osrs videos are always saying the same thing "gotta be on the look out for pkers, got my scouts here to check im safe ready to log out or teleport instantly" It shows how iconic and impressive the wilderness is that even when it's not active just the place it's self always puts anyone on edge. Just random shut down low budget mmorpg refugees who ended up in rs3 because it has similar quality to what they were likely in before. Most likely similar player count if it got shut down too.
@@slayerr4365 The issue comes down to PKers killing people doing clue scrolls or boring tasks with no rewards. The opt-in is perfect and would work on OSRS too e.g. forced opt in while killing bosses or other tasks that require you to carry valuable gear.

Loving the new Wilderness, I never cared for PvP outside the old Fist of Guthix and Bounty Hunter (or on OldSchool), so optional PvP will stop the annoying raggers, not that there were too many PKers. Looks like the longer you stay the more fun it is, since the monsters are stronger than any PKer at higher threat levels

why would it? the wilderness is active in osrs. in rs3 (before this update), you could literally do wildy slayer tasks for 10 hours before a "pker" attacked you, and even those people were so trash theres no way anyone wouldve ever died to them. the wilderness wasnt even about pking, it was a big piece of land with almost no content at all

you could already get 700+ ripper demon kph semi afk before this update and the wildy will be even worse
Good update in RS3 context, wilderness was very dead aside from abyss, lava strykes and perhaps revs and warbands.

It's the volcano. You pray ranged to reduce it by 75%- "burning ember" is melee and "magical ember" is magic.

Yeah my feeling from playing RS3 last year is that almost no one likes PvP or PvPers and are happy to see it go. If I was still playing I'd probably be happy about this change as it just means there's basically no threat when doing mundane repetitive stuff in the wildy like abyss RCing or catching salamanders or growing bloodweed. I wonder if doing divination in the wildy still causes you to be marked for PvP, because if not then I would do div in the wildy as well.

That anything you are doing in this giant open area you can instantly die from a pker is the entire charm and idea behind the wilderness it's meant to be something that puts you on edge. Even though the wilderness is not super active in osrs every single person in there including all osrs videos are always saying the same thing "gotta be on the look out for pkers, got my scouts here to check im safe ready to log out or teleport instantly" It shows how iconic and impressive the wilderness is that even when it's not active just the place it's self always puts anyone on edge.
Honestly just shows the type of people playing rs3 aren't actual runescape players at all lol. Just random shut down low budget mmorpg refugees who ended up in rs3 because it has similar quality to what they were likely in before. Most likely similar player count if it got shut down too.

@@slayerr4365 The issue comes down to PKers killing people doing clue scrolls or boring tasks with no rewards. The opt-in is perfect and would work on OSRS too e.g. forced opt in while killing bosses or other tasks that require you to carry valuable gear.

Loving the new Wilderness, I never cared for PvP outside the old Fist of Guthix and Bounty Hunter (or on OldSchool), so optional PvP will stop the annoying raggers, not that there were too many PKers. Looks like the longer you stay the more fun it is, since the monsters are stronger than any PKer at higher threat levels

@@GetOffMyPhoneGoogle PK’ing wasn’t fun. It was predator vs prey. People attacking people they knew wouldn’t fight back to attempt to get easy loot. The Wilderness is like 1/3 of the F2P world and most players would completely avoid it. What smells like salt? Oh it’s the people that actually have to play the game to make money now. Oh well.
@@GetOffMyPhoneGoogle Wildy PKing has been dead for years outside Warbands. The only ones salty now are the griefers who can't PK at all will have to fight others geared up for it, and not someone who has an invent full of loot that bd/surges away and escapes via lvl 30 tele

why would it? the wilderness is active in osrs.
in rs3 (before this update), you could literally do wildy slayer tasks for 10 hours before a "pker" attacked you, and even those people were so trash theres no way anyone wouldve ever died to them. the wilderness wasnt even about pking, it was a big piece of land with almost no content at all
