  • Is this the best 35mm film camera of all time? Panoramic street photography with the Fujifilm TX-1.
    I hit the streets of Tokyo armed with the incredible Fujifilm TX-1, some rolls of Ilford HP5+ and nothing but a dream, to take some great photos and see how this camera performs as a street shooter set up.
    The TX-1 was made by Fujifilm in partnership with Hasselblad and released in 1998 and is quite possibly one of, if not the best 35mm film camera ever made. The reason is due to its unique features that can not be found on any camera before or since its release. For me these features coupled with an incredibly well made body, excellent viewfinder and fantastic ergonomics are what makes it stand apart from every other 35mm camera and puts it at the top of the tree.
    I was shooting Ilford HP5+ which I developed and scanned at home using Kodak D76 and an epson V700 and was really pleased with how the images came out.
    I should also note that I was using a new mic set up for this video and didn't realise that it was clipping a bit when recording so apologies for that, I will have that sorted in future videos. Finally I was experimenting with a new insta 360 one R to capture the POV footage and the footage from it didn't come out quite how I would have liked so I need to get to know it better to figure out how to get the best footage out of it, so hopefully you will see some improvements there as well in future videos.But enjoy the video and seeing what kinds of images this wonderful camera can create

    What are your thoughts on this camera as a street photo set up? Is it something you would like to use?

    Dope camera, nice vid mate! Nice shots too - I’m so OCD for leveling though, so some of them shots had me squirming :)

      Yeah man I hear that, I’m trying to not crop or edit my film photos and still getting used to the camera. I’m sure once I’m more settled using it and take my time a bit more it should be sweet

      @@Visions_in_Toyko Yeah totally fair enough - so much to think about, especially with a new cam.

    I had planned on getting a Fuji TX-1 until I realized that I could shoot 24x65mm (or larger) panoramic images on 35mm film by using adapters to load 35mm film in my 6x7cm and 6x9cm medium format cameras. Plus, I have the option of capturing my panoramic images with the 35mm sprocket holes.

      Yes that’s correct, you can do that, you end up with the same result but it’s a bit of a clunky work around and is a bit less economical with the film, but does work I believe. The TX1 certainly isn’t the only option for getting panoramic shots but it is definitely the best camera suited to it in terms of simplicity and ease of use. I was using the 45mm f4 lens on it by the way

    Nice to see Jonny Dub back on the streets, I love this POV commentary street photography style you are doing. The images from TX-1 are mint !!!

    Nice to see you back on your channel! Loving all the analogue stuff you’ve been shooting lately on Insta, and this camera is really something different! When shooting digital you get can just fire off a burst and pick the best shot, but when you’re only getting 20 shots a roll you’ve really got to be a bit more selective! Sometimes you nail it, sometimes you’re just a moment out but it’s all part of the fun! Be interested to see how you develop and scan your own stuff too.

      Thanks Dan, yeah I actually prefer the whole process of shooting film, I still think I can get better images with digital at the moment but thats like you said, i can shoot unlimited pictures and then pick the best ones, but for me its all about progressing and learning and I feel that shooting on film really helps with that progress more than digital. I might make a video on the developing and scanning stuff in the future once I feel I have a better understanding of it all, Im still a novice at it really so once I feel my knowledge is more well rounded I might do something like that

    It's nice to see you out and about, shooting street photography in Tokyo again. Also really like how you use Insta360 camera to capture the footage of you roaming the streets.
    Your voice came out pretty clear when vlogging with Insta360 at 3:32. I thought its audio quality was crap? Or did you use external mic to record the audio?

    • @Visions_in_Toyko
      @Visions_in_Toyko  3 года назад

      Yeah I had an external microphone set up but unfortunately my levels were a little high so it was clipping, should be better in my next one though

      thanks buddy, which are you looking into? the XS10 is a good option if you want it for vlogging and stuff, it has the same sensor as the XT4, plus ibis and the flippy screen. I actually need to think about getting something like this in the future as non of my cameras have a flippy screen so it makes doing the vlogging bit a bit more difficult

    • @HappyHungryHibby
      @HappyHungryHibby 3 года назад

      @@Visions_in_Toyko yeah, I think it was the XS10. I was looking at it on Which? I currently just use my iPhone 11Pro & film from the front so I can see the screen
