Season 3 really tried hard to fool book readers to think that the worst would not happen in the show. They steered Robb's marriage to a slightly different path so that they'd think that the red wedding would not happen in the show. And they made Theon escape his imprisonment so they'd think that he'd never become Reek.

Knowing his own culture, Theon should have been alarmed when Ramsay told the fake story about being a little boy. The Ironborn were never the kind of people who used to be melancholic, loyal and grieving towards someone who hasn't shown his value yet.
Tbf he had already been tortured for a few weeks and this was the guy who “saved” him. Ramsay also knew about his sister so he probably let his guard down. It also seemed like he was so focused on his own failures that he wasn’t really giving a critical ear to what Ramsay was saying
Theon never knew his own culture. He was taken away when he was just a child, grew up in Winterfell, among Northmen, not the Ironborn. You see that when he first sees his father again.
Theons situational awareness was absolutely shit because if he just looked up and saw the Bolton banners on the Dreadfort he probably could've incapacitated or killed Ramsay (who was in front of him and had his guard down) and make a run for it. They were only on horses until a moment ago
Quite funny in retrospect how Theon is realising his mistake and telling Ramsay from the heart and the camera makes it seem like he's troubled from hearing his story only to realising he was faking his condolences the entire time to lure him 😆
Whats crazy to me, is how good the actor who played Ramsay is. I first saw him on a show called "misfits" where a bunch of strangers doing community service get stuck in a weird storm and get powers and he was the quiet, weird shy one who gets invisibility and does some....odd activities while invisible.. but eventually the group keeps getting saved by a mysterious assassin in a black suit and mask.Eventually he finds out that the assassin in the black mask is him in the future, and it gives him confidence knowing what he will become, and that he ends up being w the most beautiful girl on the whole show, which actually makes him start training to eventually become said assassin and get the girl. Going from being that shy, timid character who was teased throughout multiple seasons, to a psychopathic savage like Ramsay Bolton is just a CRAZY range of acting ability. Any character that can literally make you fucking despise them, is doing a goddamn good job.
I still do not get it though, those who captured Theon first were the men of Boltons, one of them recognized Ramsay. Why did he kill them? Was he just that insane?

At first Theon got what he deserved because of everything he did.. Thinking about what he did to the Stark boys by having them murdered.. But in the end i felt what Sansa did in forgiving him.. The Stark boys were alive and Theon saving her that monster Ramsey Bolton
