I heard it left too. On a 5.1 system which I have tested several times (basically, drivers have a test button, and it says "front left" in the front left speaker). YOU should change left and right, maybe :-)
Thank you for posting this video. Michael Nyman is a great composer and an excellent pianist. I’ve listened to his music many times. I never saw him before.
Funny how people are pointing out little mistakes... I think they forget he wrote the damn song and he could play it with as many mistakes as he pleases and I'd still love it.
The heart asks pleasure first!!
Absolutely brilliant song. Such a pleasure to listen to. I am having trouble with this song, but I cannot wait until i have learnt all of it. Thumbs up for Michael Nyman!!!! :)
This song is SO hard. The timing is everything. It’s somehow very forward moving and lingering at the same time. It’s beautiful. It evokes such intensity. He nailed it. Of course.. 😁
nailed it? i head at least 5 mistakes, the most obvious at 3:01 and he plays way too fast as well, its much more beutiful if you hold the notes longer instead of stressing your way through it like he does, i've said it before, this man is a amazing composer, but he's not a great player. far from it
As my piano teacher always pointed out: I'd rather listen to someone who makes a few mistakes but plays from the heart than to someone who touches every note but plays lifeless
I've been struggling to play this music. Why should I be suprised that the composer does it like I want it to be when I play it? ...he wrote it. it's his - it's him. Gorgeous work.
Maravilloso.
You can clearly hear what everybody else seems to miss when paying this piece. The timing needs to be set according to the patterns. There's no need to connect the patterns like a robot. They need to stand for themselves, that means slowing down at the end of each of them. Gives them much more effect.
The timing begins 12/8, moves to 9/8 and back again for most of the piece. The last page has 5 lines, each with a distinct timing: 4/4, 3/8, 2/4, 4/4, ending in 5/4. It is almost dissonant, sometimes each hand plays together, the “angry” section in the middle, the harmony almost grates, but somehow it all works and comes together, with a bit of practice. The treble high notes in the “harmony” is all with your little finger on your right hand, again, just practice...
@@steveribich2310 "It is almost dissonant.." Yes, exactly. Like life. Sometimes harmonious, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes grating, sometimes flying, and sometimes dissonant, all requiring focus to come together beautifully at the end.
One of the most beautiful pieces of piano music I ever heard. Had this been written before it was I might’ve stuck with piano lessons at 13 stead of fucking off my Da n my aunt the teacher and deciding I’d prefer to lie in bed on Saturday mornings stead of going to my granny’s front room for lessons.
I think this song is breathtaking! Actually I managed to find the sheet music and I'm currently learning how to play it *-* PD: If I manage to come with a good version, then I'll post a video ^^ Wish me luck!!

One of the most beautiful music I have heard in my life!
My left ear really enjoyed this
+CultOfRevan98 Mine too!
+CultOfRevan98 ahhhaha! yeah! The left ear asks for pleasure first, I guess. :)

Guess at least 7 people should change their left and right sound output devices :-D
Obra maestra 🙏, gracias Michael
This is my favourite piece of music ever...... it's just so so beautiful..... love ❤️
Thank you for posting this video.
Michael Nyman is a great composer and an excellent pianist.
I’ve listened to his music many times. I never saw him before.
I saw him playing live in Cagliari, Sardinia. An unforgettable experience indeed ❤❤❤

Wrote it ? Stole basicly theres basicly no originality in it

the age, the health. In spite of that the song is his. He is the composer.
BASICALLY, it is beautiful. You too probably think you could do better..........such negativity, ugh.
The composer and this masterpiece came from him. Thank you for the priceless gift.

You mean to tell me the genius that wrote that beautiful music is alive and I got to see him play it.....I am in heaven.
I love hearing this hauntingly beautiful piece of music by its creator. Timeless and simply exquisite.
Been listening to this tune since I was 7. Friends think I'm weird but it relaxes me and I love it! I'm only 16 now
Funny, that's about when I heard it. One of first pieces of music in my life, and stayed thorough. We're about the same age now.
Tears my heart out but it’s impossible to not come back for more. Like my love R. What he does to me.
I really love this piece , this soundtrack ...
Fascinating piece of music. I loved hearing it performed by it's composer.
Esto eriza la piel! Desde Uruguay lo escucho
Good sound , sensitive and romantic. Thank you.
Impresionante, bellísima!!
So beautiful! ❤️
it takes a lifetime to create such a master piece.

This is an amazing piece. Truly inspiring.
believably beautiful.

Exactly. I heard so many people play it like a robot and fast all the way. Same speed from the beginning to the end.

Dear Lord, ill want this played at my funeral. Let those remaining interpret what they wish out of it. Soooo longing, so mute and so alive....
You know a piece of music is good if it still sounds good in mono with hiss.
