What an absolute beast of a tool watch 💪500m water resistance but still so wearable thanks to that thinness and diameter. It’s so good when a watch you’ve had your eye on lives up to (or even exceeds) your expectations! A proper feel good MWC show to get the weekend off to a great start 🙌
I just now tonight ordered the fully tegimented Sinn U50 Black on rubber strap after watching The Mad Watch Collector's very entertaining & persuasive review (and also Teddy Baldassarre's equally informative review). I very much look forward to wearing this on my wrist in a few days! BTW, one of my very favorite movies is Das Boot.
I'm eagerly waiting delivery of mine. Had a U2, but was just too big. I also have a bb58. The U50 and U1 threw the rule book away and designed something so different and so functional it's hard to ignore. I have to admit that I didn't like the U1 when I first saw it, but once you realise why they did it, then you realise how well it works and how perfect it is.
Since jumping into the world of horology only six months ago I have been captivated by this modern beauty... your videos make my chuckle, with the wonderful balance of nonsense and education. Haven't regretted subscribing to the channel... great review to keep me dreaming of one day wearing it on my wrist.

Great watch. Btw the screwed in lunette is something I have seen on no other watch brand as of today. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is just awesome.

I own this watch and this review was right on. Especially sizing the strap. Take your time since there is no going back. The watch is indestructible. A lot of the people don't like the model face but it was the primary reason I bought it. Also, you can buy a strap that matches the red dial. I did that but went back to the original strap.
I also love my 104 and Sinn’s quality. The U50 looks like an amazing opportunity to experience the tegimented technology and the dimensions are fantastic. Thank you for this, and all your entertaining and informative reviews! I hope Mr. Santana got his 🍔.

Have the U50 on bracelet, had it just over a year and before Sinn's price increase. Only one AD's in the US and they are good. Only thing didn't get the tegimented bracelet to me wasn't worth the extra money, I'm not hard on my watch, but I don't baby them either. I like german watches and their styles. Also have a 104 and 556 with a red second dial. I like the rubber strap, may order one some day. Sizing Sinn's bracelets are quite different, requiring two allen wrenches. Great fit. I love the way it looks, people bitch if it seems to copy another watch, people bitch when they do something different. Love your review. Wearing a Nomos Ahoi at the moment.
I got the U50 and got the tegemented bracelet and the rubber band. I wore the metal bracelet for ages, for months, and remembered the rubber band. Tried it on and it's so bloody comfortable! I love it.
Had one U1 sold it cause i needed cash. Bought another one U1SE, today i got the U50 SDR, yay! Love the silicon, protects the case well as it expands a bit. Have the bracelets also the leather band chronissimo, very good ones too! Thanks for the review! Every Sinn watch I had, they regulated it to Chronometer specs. Just wear it for 2-3 months, and then let them know how you want it regulated. Regarding the Sapphire coding, I only had one problem with a old 556 watch that I bought 2011, but after I gave it to the service just last year they seem to have fixed that little scratch it had, it was barely noticeable to begin with, but if one wishes, they remove it for you. On all of my U1’s, I never had any issues at all regarding the coating.

I never did buy the 105 UTC, but did buy a 104 white dial which i love, and have also just ordered the U50 SDR so gone a bit Sinn mad :) Got them both from F&G who have provided me with great customer service, keep up the great work pal.
I have the all black S version. I put it on a genuine Isofrane and love it! One of the most comfortable divers you can get would be my guess. I have had it for 6 months, worn it daily and it doesn't have a mark on it. I recently whacked a door frame and saw a white mark on the bezel. I wiped it off and it was just the door frame paint- The watch was perfect. I wiped off the paint and moved on.
I'm such a big fan of the U1 and U50 that i actually built a hommage out of Seiko modding parts into a titanium case (they didn't have any old U-boats lying around to recycle). I managed to get a really well AR-ed crystal and it's as if there was no glass. Fascinating piece!
As soon as you said it wears smaller than its dimensions that gave me a real dilemma. Currently have a aquis 39.5. Guess I’ll be researching this watch over the weekend. Great review Russell.

The U50 is just flat out COOL. I wish that (1) the lume were better and (2) the h-link bracelet had a tool-free micro-adjustment (surely Sinn can engineer a good micro-adjustment mechanism?) Thanks for sharing!
I think it’s inevitable Barry! The clasp on this rubber strap is far superior to the Hlink. Like I said you can un hinge the clasp to the strap and pull out a good 5 mm. The way the clasp designed , it would have to be bigger to accomadate micro holes
I´m born in Frankfurt. Sinn is a great brand and I´like this "over-engineered" design. To me it represents the best part of german watchmaking. If someone likes tools.......this is the right watch !

MAD watch collector is correct. This is the first of your videos I have seen and enjoyed it immensely. I have been looking at the U1 but have not decided yet. I have large wrists and could carry it off ok. The last watch I bought was a Zelos Abyss 3 bronze about a month ago. It is massive especially the thickness. The silicon strap allows me to make it quite tight which stops it moving about on wrist. The lume is the best I have seen on any watch. I can go to bed and still read the time when I get up. I look foreword to seeing more of your videos.

If I ever ended up down at 1000m, the Sinn would be still working......but I don't think I'd be!!🤪 And I might not even make the 500m on your one! +7 spd for a regulated movement isn't great. My worst Seiko on the timegrapher is +7 spd. But still a gorgeous watch!!

You are a crazy nut. Entertaining video style. Addressing Sinn. Being in Europe and Germany (myself is) Sinn is great all around. Overseas some special models can be problematic as the UX models or the AR gas filled versions as they only can be serviced in-house by Sinn Germany Frankfurt. With this one and the 104 you should be fine all over the globe.
I bought my U50 Mother of Pearl with some hesitation. A "smaller" diver with that dial could be a bit feminine? Well, I can say that this watch is killer. The U50 is a dead on serious tool watch. It has "macho" in its DNA. The fancy dial gives it just enough "fancy" (dare I say luxury?) to allow it to be dressed up but the black case and bracelet keep it under the radar. Sinn has a real winner here. This watch punches well above it weight class. I am not sure there is a better tool watch on the market. CAUTION: The U50 will spoil you for other divers.

Style preferences aside, the bracelet is excellent quality, comfortable and nearly impossible to scratch even with the most adventurous desk diving activities. The clasp is entirely functional and quality, while not quite as modern as the rest of the watch. It misses the satisfying click on close like the rubber and there is no quick adjust. I suppose if they fixed this there would be no room for competition. I mean we dont want all the other dive watches to just give up. :)
Congrats on your watch. You had it now for some time....how is the black coating holding up? I am quite scared that in the long run it will chip/flake and then the look of the watch will be awful.

What a watch!! Isn't that the best mid range grail of a diver. I have always thought of U1/U50 face to be like the German efficient/strict version of Mondaine watch face Between this and the Tudor Pelagos it's definitely one of the top 3 Diver's diver How's the feel of that silicon strap on your wrist? I don't know if it's my OCD, but not pushing the seconds and minute hands so they slide perfectly over the markers seems like a missed opportunity. Everything else looks awesome.
That's a stunner and definitely on want list, the hour and minute hand remind me of railway signals and I really like that, so cool, shame it's not got applied markers for that price but I'll forgive it

Great review, i am looking at buying the Sinn 105 UTC as my next watch. I think German made watches are often overlooked compared to Swiss made, i have a Stowa and Laco and the quality is excellent.

There is micro adjust for the silicone strap. Approximately .5 inches. Cut it longer than perfect fit, and pull it out as needed.

I think the Sinn U50 is just a professional diver with everything being about serious underwater business...no finess, all brute diving capabilities. I just love the looks so for me it is the ultimate diver.

The U50 is just flat out COOL. I wish that (1) the lume were better and (2) the h-link bracelet had a tool-free micro-adjustment (surely Sinn can engineer a good micro-adjustment mechanism?) Thanks for sharing!
I think it’s inevitable Barry! The clasp on this rubber strap is far superior to the Hlink. Like I said you can un hinge the clasp to the strap and pull out a good 5 mm. The way the clasp designed , it would have to be bigger to accomadate micro holes
I´m born in Frankfurt. Sinn is a great brand and I´like this "over-engineered" design. To me it represents the best part of german watchmaking. If someone likes tools.......this is the right watch !

MAD watch collector is correct. This is the first of your videos I have seen and enjoyed it immensely. I have been looking at the U1 but have not decided yet. I have large wrists and could carry it off ok. The last watch I bought was a Zelos Abyss 3 bronze about a month ago. It is massive especially the thickness. The silicon strap allows me to make it quite tight which stops it moving about on wrist. The lume is the best I have seen on any watch. I can go to bed and still read the time when I get up. I look foreword to seeing more of your videos.

Lovely watch Russ! Enjoy it, it's a stunner. If I ever ended up down at 1000m, the Sinn would be still working......but I don't think I'd be!!🤪 And I might not even make the 500m on your one! +7 spd for a regulated movement isn't great. My worst Seiko on the timegrapher is +7 spd. But still a gorgeous watch!!

You are a crazy nut. Entertaining video style. Addressing Sinn. Being in Europe and Germany (myself is) Sinn is great all around. Overseas some special models can be problematic as the UX models or the AR gas filled versions as they only can be serviced in-house by Sinn Germany Frankfurt. With this one and the 104 you should be fine all over the globe.

I bought my U50 Mother of Pearl with some hesitation. A "smaller" diver with that dial could be a bit feminine? Well, I can say that this watch is killer. The U50 is a dead on serious tool watch. It has "macho" in its DNA. The fancy dial gives it just enough "fancy" (dare I say luxury?) to allow it to be dressed up but the black case and bracelet keep it under the radar. Sinn has a real winner here. This watch punches well above it weight class. I am not sure there is a better tool watch on the market. CAUTION: The U50 will spoil you for other divers.

Style preferences aside, the bracelet is excellent quality, comfortable and nearly impossible to scratch even with the most adventurous desk diving activities. The clasp is entirely functional and quality, while not quite as modern as the rest of the watch. It misses the satisfying click on close like the rubber and there is no quick adjust. I suppose if they fixed this there would be no room for competition. I mean we dont want all the other dive watches to just give up. :)
I have seen that model. Did not think the dial came out as feminine. Def a manly tool watch. Wear that bad boy in good heath
Congrats on your watch. You had it now for some time....how is the black coating holding up? I am quite scared that in the long run it will chip/flake and then the look of the watch will be awful.

I have always thought of U1/U50 face to be like the German efficient/strict version of Mondaine watch face
Between this and the Tudor Pelagos it's definitely one of the top 3 Diver's diver

I don't know if it's my OCD, but not pushing the seconds and minute hands so they slide perfectly over the markers seems like a missed opportunity. Everything else looks awesome.

Sinn U50 is just supercool! Wearing a Speedy, IWC Pilot and SeaQ, I can tell you, the U50 with a generic RubberB strap is THE watch you must have!

You have to have a detailed look to find out that it is actually there !!! Marvelous !! The lume could be better because if I will go out with my red submarine to the deep ocean on sunday, I do not want to miss your streaming show !! ;o)

Great review, i am looking at buying the Sinn 105 UTC as my next watch. I think German made watches are often overlooked compared to Swiss made, i have a Stowa and Laco and the quality is excellent.
