This is the best upload of Marino yet. Three incredible hours, of great guitar. Not one note wasted. Frank just gets better and better. Please release your live DVD. The best deserves to be seen and heard.

Frank, Johnny,Rory or Alvin? What a choice? Saw Frank in London in 1977 and again in Southampton early 2000's. Both magical,3 hrs in front of stage in 2005/6.Actually got front stage at Hammersmith too! Never got to see Rory for whatever reason but did manage to see Johnny and Alvin.Great times.

Best understanding of Frank comes from his live shows where he is able to stretch out. Like SRV, the music flows through him in waves of feeling.

God how do I decide!?? FM and mahogany rush or just Rush!
    Both ultimate power trios!!
Canadians seem to need fewer people in their bands to still get that monster sound!
RIP Neil and may you live forever Frank!!

I saw Frank in 2006 at the House of Blues in Chicago. Stood in front of him, maybe 5 feet away for 3 hours just totally blown away. My ears rang for about a week afterward, it had to be the loudest concert ever.

I saw him in 73, playing at my highschool. I was only 15, and Frank actual hit on my 15 year old girlfriend. Great band!

Brings back memories. Saw him three times in the seventies. Great shows. I don't think Aerosmith ever knew what they were getting when he opened for them. Hands down one of the best.

I saw Frank 3 times. Phokinn amazing for every second i was there. He took the time after the first show i've seen to sign albums brought by fans. ALL my album are signed, by the way, yes you bet ! One of them, Mahogany Rush IV, is also signed by Jim Ayoub who i met and had a party with back 30 some years ago. This actual rendering of a Frank Marino playing live is beyond expectancies. Great great show of talent ! 👍♥️🤜🤛

Frank and Robin Trower have been my faves since the mid 70's.both awesome in their own rights.I think when JImi he passed he came to them in a dream and told them 'Now Your Turn',not Jimi copies.but both so awesome, and have inspired so many other guitarists! This is just fabulous, thanks for sharing!

I've became a huge FM fan in early '80s listening at some sompilation record including EC, Santana, Hendrix and Marino playing live "I'm a king bee"... He expressly become my favorite blues player since than and stay firmly as #1...Others can only learn and take lessons from Frank. True energy and emotions.
And what an underrated player too.. I feel the same for RUSH. They deserved better.

Frank's a monster guitar player as far as Rush they were never underrated and did very well for themselves and are ranked 3rd in consecutive gold and platinum record sales with only the Beatles and the Rolling Stones having more .

Unbelievable player. The ideas and execution are an amazing display of guitar god greatness. Frank is probably my favorite rock/blues player. And I'm not one to really go for a "favorite" in any genre. But damn, he does soooooo much on that SG that it's almost impossible to think one player could really be that good.

Not too shabby for a Canadian "Aye!"
I was hooked on Frank and Mahogany Rush, since the 70's, when I first heard him on my 8-track stereo!
    God bless "Spark-O-Matic."

I was a huge guitar geek back in the late 70's and 80's and I only found out about Frank Marino when some guy in a band I was in played me the Mahogany Rush live album. I would never have found him on my own. Even when rock radio was in its prime you NEVER heard them play any Frank Marino and he hardly ever played in the UK so there was no chance to see how good he was. I honestly don't know why he was not more well known, even Rory Gallagher got more attention and he did nothing to promote himself at all!

Frank has never been a believer in the guitar god as rock in roll hero lifestyle. He wouldn't play their(the music industry)game. His relative anonymity is the result.

I'm guessing, maybe the end of the 3rd set was World Anthem, Little Town of Bethlehem, Try for Freedom, and Amazing Grace... btw - a great version of Voodoo Chile to open up (a little different than most I've heard, but then again he never does it the same twice).

hendrix wished he could play like this

    • @musicalSFCat
      @musicalSFCat 6 лет назад +6

Hendrix didn't have to wish he played like nobody. He rode his own musical psychedelic blues wave. Jimi was in a whole different time and era, he took guitar to a whole new "stratospheric level" in the late '60s. Regardless love and highly respect both musicians...Frank was heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, John Cipollina.

Sorry, I missed the opening credits the first time. There was another show on here recorded at House of Blues Cleveland, but from 2008 (it was removed for some reason). Anyway, they opened with "Land of 1000 Nights" that night and the show was over 3 hours and 10 minutes. This show I'm sure was over 3 hours too, but I think youtube probably timed out on you or something and you couldn't get the last 15 to 25 minutes or so to upload... thanks for trying though

@brennack69 I was getting ready to go to the 10/05/2006 HOB Atlantic City concert, but I received a call when I was getting ready and couldn't go. I didn't have a ticket, I was going to try and buy a ticket at the door. I'm really disappointed I wasn't able see him during this era. What were some songs and highlights? Things come out differently night to night and there's always at least one nice surprise.
