    From a guy who has never created a helpful video like this ....to you and all the other people that have... Thank You.
    My daughter and I used a quart sized zip lock baggie to catch the water when unhooking the hose... then did the air compressor from inside the car -> out.
    We were concerned that blowing air up from under the car, it might push the blockage deeper up the hose.

    Thanks for the great tip. I just used a can of compressed air to release the “clog” and a river of water came out. The 2007 Hyundai Sonata is very low to the ground but I was able to locate the drainage hose.

  • @DavidSmith-qe2pm
    @DavidSmith-qe2pm 3 года назад +2

    I don't own a compressor so initially I tried using a plastic cable tie to clear the blockage - it got about 8 inches in and wouldn't go further, and it didn't reach the blocked point. Then I thought of just using a can of compressed air, and one shot did the trick - water began draining out right away. Thanks for saving me a trip to the garage.

    Man, you just saved our vacations... My wife discovered a strange whirring, buzzing sound when going into corners, and she had commented for a few days that the car smelled as if there was quite some moisture inside. So, after the heavy rains the past few days, I thought it might have just been a matter of the inside drying in the Floridian heat. But when the noise kicked in this morning, I thought we had either a broken a/c or some issue with the power steering. Looked it up on RUclips, and your video was the second or so hit. What you described perfectly worked, so you and our neighbor (a car guy, had some plastic ramps to drive the car up to, and an air compressor as well) saved our vacations that were supposed to start with a 3.5hr drive next week. The amount of water (or whatever that was) coming out after two, three quick blows into the pipe was probably half a gallon or so. The neighbor also gave me a bag of DampRid to hang it inside the car for it to pick up the remaining moisture. Needless to say that this saved my both a trip to the Hyundai dealership, as well as probably quite some cash for a potential "repair"...Tthanks a million!

    Instead of buying an $80 air compressor just for this specific issue, just stop by a gas station at an air compressor for your tires instead. It’ll do the job just fine

    Thanks so much for the useful info. You just saved me 2+ hours of driving and probably an hour in a half diagnosing and probably a couple hundred dollars. Super easy to fix. Took mine about 5 minutes to fully drain and I think it was leaking from my fan inside. Thank you! I think I found the culprit which was a small cockroach.

    I just did this on a 2017 Elantra. Unclogging is a breeze. Removing the seats and carpet and getting things dry not so much.
    A fan overnight will leave the top feeling dry. It’s not, still a lot of water under the carpet. It’s like foam rubber on the back.
    Oh, and my dealer said “Nah, that’s not covered by warranty.” Why not?
    Hopefully I can put it back together tomorrow. Still drying.

    Great video. Saved me time and effort. Turns out mine (2015 Sonata) wasn't clogged with dirt. The issue was the drain pipe was kinked in an upward position. Just pulled it down and the water poured out,. Didn't even need to jack up the car. Just for overkill I jammed a 14" cable tie up the tube but it seemed fine. Had my oil changed last week and I'm guessing the tech may have accidentally pushed the drain out of the way. Seems unlikely running over anything was he cause.

    Great job for sharing this video. For only a 2 years old car, it is a bit surprising that the hose has clogged up already. Seems like all the car's engineering are using the same poor system or setup that when the AC hose is clogged, water spill over to the passenger's foot well. Should have been a better design.
