    I absolutely love the GR Supra. The driving dynamics are absolutely fantastic for what it costs. I've had my A91 edition for exact a year and it's still nonstop fun to drive and still gets positive attention wherever I take it. 👍

    I’ve had the Supra 3.0 for 6 months now as a weekend car. Wow. This was a car I did not expect to get. But I am SO glad I did. I was adamant that I wanted a six speed manual but there are so few cars with that option and the ZF is so much unexpected fun. I can’t afford the new Corvette. Porsche's are out of control on price. The new Z I couldn’t wait for 6 months ago although I expect to buy one after a year and when the heat dies down. ANY sports car is a blessing to me because there are so few options anymore. So I’m excited to see the few sports cars we have left. And to find a fast car for low to mid 50's , we’ll I was in. I love how this car just absolutely screams when flooring it, or even at a quarter throttle it sounds mad. I never quit smiling.

      @@kpokfposkf The 7:43s lap time from the CTR was done on a pre-production vehicle with a roll cage, no rear seat and infotainment system, and using stickier Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires (which are not available as an option in the US).
      The 2020 GR Supra never had an official factory lap time but Sport Auto magazine did their lap run in 7:52s. The same publication also did their own independent lap time test on the CTR and that car ran an 8:01s lap time (conveniently 9s slower than the 2020 Supra).
      No Nurburgring lap time tests have been done on the 2021MY as the European model doesn't get the higher output 382rwhp engine like the US and Japanese market but based on lap times posted on Car and Driver for their annual Lightning Lap runs at VIR, the 2021MY is several seconds quicker than the 2020MY.

    One thing I have to point out: I'm a little annoyed that everyone keeps calling the FT-1 a "Supra concept". It was not! It was primarily a random and cool concept vehicle developed in CA. Hence the name "Future Toyota - 1". It received enough positive feedback that Toyota decided to use a few styling cues from it as inspiration for the A90 Supra. That's why it doesn't look exactly like the FT-1.

    Completely agree that a Supra is better than no Supra. We’re already heading to the age of EVs and SUVs dominating the market and any 2 door sports car is welcomed. The partnership with BMW was necessary for Toyota not only for the straight 6 but because BMW wanted the hydrogen fuel cell tech from the Mirai and Toyota is supplying it to them. They already have a 370hp X5 they’re testing. Expanding that hydrogen infrastructure is Toyotas biggest goal right now. It would be real cool to see more hybrid sports cars at obtainable prices as the NSX was the last super car to be hybrid but at $200k. Been enjoying my Supra since I got it early April at a great price below MSRP before the chip shortage. In my area they’re still fairly rare but the sales in the US the past two years have been almost 6k which has already outsold the BMW Z4 by a lot and also the MKIV.

      @@richt6906 So no turbo in the 86 might come off as underwhelming, but again we dont know what the after market scene will do for the car like they did for the last generation. For the Supra I know cuz I have watched on YT videos claiming with just a tune and a catless downpipe they can get 450+ WHP. And those Supra's are gapping Hellcat's its crazy, though the new Supra's Toyota has been locking the ECU's now, so might be harder to get a tune now.
      If you dont care for any of that the Supra on it's own is fine as long as you don't have a family to haul around and/or stuff to carry around with you. The B58 has been taken apart by Toyota and they told BMW what improvements they needed to make to the engine. The only negative I've heard of the Supra's especially the 2021's is that the rear axles can break after making more then stock HP and the 2021's have oil consumption issues.

    Back in the 80s, I bought a 1985 Supra in deep red color after landing my first job after college and drove this this for the next 23 years. I had to get replaced it with a boring minivan because of the kids 😂. Anyway the real Supra is the best vehicle I have owned because of its excellent design and reliability 23 years, 300K miles with very few issues. The 85 Supra allowed up to 4 occupants travel in comfort because it is a GT.

  • @cjpp78ytube
    @cjpp78ytube 2 года назад +1

    I think the soul of the supra is the inline six engine...Toyota made sure this generation continued to have that.. it has everything that Toyota themselves would have done with an inline six had they developed it themselves so...If going with a BMW parts sourced supra is what made the project possible and at the price point it's at, I'm ok with it. After all, is the current GTR like the old R34 - 32? No it's not and Nissan even abandoned the inline six with the current model. I'd rather have a BMW sourced inline six over any V6.
    Not having a manual is the only real big misstep in my opinion.. Sure they will give in and give us one now that the Z is on the way.
