    Excellent video on street photography, a lot of info and great examples. I like the strait forward approach and no nonsense/humble tone which is....... refreshing. Subbed!!! :)

    Just bought the x100 (my second one) and watching your vid has inspired me to do a little street shooting, I really love your images (almost film like) and if I can get even half way close to your shots I’ll be happy 👍📷

    It's still an awesome camera for street and throws up some great shots full of character. Good video.

    This will probably be my next camera. Tell me, please, how sharp are the images without image stabilization or vibration reduction? Thank you so much -- your video is wonderful. : )

      You can see the stills from this shoot here: www.thomasfitzgerald.photography/photoblog/2019/3/street-photo-diary-issue-38-pink-is-the-new-black - Bear in mind I wasn't focussing on keeping these sharp and there was a good bit of motion. If I was being more careful to keep images sharp the camera can produce good sharp results (within the limitations of its sensor)

    When you shoot people as they walk by you, where do you focus? They often are on the far left or right of the frame and moving quickly.

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  5 лет назад

      I focus on the ground along the plane of where I thought I they’ll be in the right position taking into account that I’m moving too. It takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it it’s not too hard. Only really works with wider lenses though. It gets harder to judge the longer the lens.

    • @paul8914
      @paul8914 5 лет назад

      @@thomasfitzgerald but do you focus on the ground using the center focus point, lower focus point or center point and recompose? I just bought all your books. Which recipe do you use most often for xtransformer conversions? I mainly shoot street. Thanks!

      Or you can do this:
      Found in another comment section about X100
      1. Set your X100 to manual focus.
      2. Point it to where/what you want in focus.
      3. Press the AFL/AEL button. The camera will do a autofocus.
      4. Shoot your picture.

    • @NathanBaldassero
      @NathanBaldassero 5 лет назад +2

      I have both the F and original and there is indeed something about the original that feels a bit more analog. Don't know if it's the color or sensor etc. However, the F is incredible and can definitely get beautiful images (I found astia and -2 on shadows gets a closer look to x100 images). If I had to place it I'd say I get cinematic movie like images from the x100f jpegs and the x100 seems to get me a more analog film camera vibe. Again this is just jpegs and both cameras can be tweaked in post to get whatever look you're after

    The last firmware update a few years back improved the speed issue quite a bit, nearly bringing it into line with the x100S. I think it may be still available on the Fuji website v 2.11

      I wanted to try x100 for fun use and nothing serious. I can see the images produce really good image. do you think with the v2.11 update it's good enough or i might just skip to x100s?

    • @strangescribe1
      @strangescribe1 5 лет назад +1

      @@mohdaliff1215 I never had an x100s but there are one or two RUclips videos discussing how much better the original camera performed with the update. I think At the time the suggestion was that if you had an original x100 already just to install the update rather than buying a new camera because the firmware brought it on a par with the x100s. I'd check the price difference between them and decide from there. The update has worked for me. Focus was much better and added Focus peaking too. Mines an old bird but the shots are gorgeous. Good luck.

      @@strangescribe1 Haven't got mine yet, probably in few days. Yes, i went to Flickr and others sample images, totally in love with all the produced images. I am somehow a slow shooter/think before i shoot kinda guy i hope this one suits me very much. Thanks for you insight! Very much appreciated. Enjoy your x100 and happy shooting :)

    • @strangescribe1
      @strangescribe1 5 лет назад

      @@mohdaliff1215 I'd say check prices on both. Be careful if buying a used original x100 that it doesn't have the sticking aperture fault of some of the earlier models. If you type 'x100 sticking aperture problem' some informative videos come up. You can avoid buying one of the faulty ones as they were only manufactured before a certain serial number which can ask about before you buy. One of the videos I mentioned tells you what to look for. This problem was eradicated by the time the x100s came out.

    Excellent Thomas! The only time mine struggled was trying to catch skateboarders do their tricks - but that's hardly surprising :-) PS - I also meant to say, why do we feel we need to buy the latest cameras when it really isn't all about the gear as we can see here!! Sold my X100 when I got an X100F...but why didn't I just keep the X100? Too many magazines and forums telling me I needed something better...

    Do you think that a high class phone camera (lets say iPhone XS), can do same shots? How much Is this about editing? Thanks for help.

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  5 лет назад

      I’m using my iPhone XR more and more and when you shoot raw it is really good. In some scenarios it definitely approaches this quality. However it doesn’t stand up to editing as much and it’s a good bit nosier. But it’s getting into the ballpark. It depends on what you plan on using it for really.

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 5 лет назад +2

      Having a number of lenses can actually be distracting for a beginner. With just one lens, you'll learn the absolute limits of what can be done. Google for 'Brian Kraft X100 Hawaii' and 'Brian Kraft X100 wedding' to see how far you can take the X100. This line has been a big seller for Fuji for very good reason.
