  • Well hello there friend. Today we are installing a Sargent PE8804 with a Rockwood VRT-22 Vandal Resistant Trim with a Schlage Rim cylinder in a Hollow Metal door. These were fun to install but also ran into a few issues with the Schlage Rim Cylinder holes because they don't line up with Sargent's holes in their cylinder backing plate or with the cylinder mounting holes in the head of the chassis. I hope you enjoy the video. Happy Hardwaring!

I love how you do everything properly. It’s hard to find guys that actually know what they’re doing and how to do it right.

Been a door guy for 12 years from the Bay Area Ca to Austin Tx now, and just found your channel.
Love to see a video on your cart setup.

So glad you found the channel. Ya lots of locksmith videos on YT but not lots of hardware videos. Or at least real world not filmed in a studio videos.
Cart video is definitely on my to do list. Got to organize it a little better than it is at the moment so it doesn’t look like just a bunch of random crap in the drawers 😆.
If you know anyone else who would like this kind of stuff please share the channel. It helps so much. Thanks! 😎

@@drewinstallshardware already done. I have a few young guys that just started with us watching your videos.
Lol and a door guys cart is NEVER ALL THE WAY RIGHT lol. I just love the set up. Flat top with pull out drawers.
It must weigh a ton. How do you get it in and out of your truck/van?

@@LakeBeltonBassin I have what are called wheelchair ramps that telescope out to like 7 or 8 feet and I can roll the cart up into my van that way.
I can be on a different job each day of the week and sometimes even multiple jobs in one day so I need to be mobile with all my stuff.

    Sargent , Schlage
It’s all ALLEGION any way right! Ups think they would get with the program and at least put an extra page in their template to help.

Yessir 😆. I feel bad getting upset with the manufacturers because in reality a lot of times I get frustrated because I’m not communicating my issue properly. But it does seem like this is a phone call they must get pretty often. Anyway. Thanks for checking it out 😎

The tools you use are so helpful , the drill block you made ? The tips you give are great , you should tag Schlage so they can be embarrassed

Cool video sucks I missed the live. Are those 3/8 bit and screws very common on panic hardware or hardware for commercial doors? Also I like that jig, are those universal for commercial doors? I have set the frames but your videos are cool to watch because you instal everything. Thanks for sharing..

The 1/4-20 screws are more common on closers than panics but this brand does use them. The template comes with this specific panic so hopefully each different brand supplies their own unique templates. Thanks for checking out my channel and please share it with anyone u know who might like it. I really appreciate it! 😎

The instructions say mount the strike and then hold the template up tight to the strike. But in general it’s gonna be close to 2 3/4”. To be safe u could go a just a little more 👍 😎

That's a right hand door. What makes it a left hand reverse?

    • @drewinstallshardware
      @drewinstallshardware  4 месяца назад

I have a feeling you maybe already know the answer. But It has to do with which is the secure side and whether we say the door is swinging in or out.
One way it was described to me is if you grab the handle with your right hand and it swings away from you is a RH. If it swings towards you it’s a RHR.
If you grab the handle with your left hand and it swings away from you it’s a LH. If it swings towards you it’s a LHR.
There’s other ways to figure it out and explain it but I really like that way 😎
