Stephen Fry asks his guests what 'war tubas' would have been used for. They were used like oversized ear trumpets to hear enemy aircraft coming.

"They've got war tubas? The thevin' bastards!
...
Sorry, couldn't resist...(;-)
I love the look on Sandi's face when she realizes she was right.
I love how often Sandi would crack a joke answer and happen upon the real answer, she's a natural
Nolan Oster well twice??
It happened so many times that the showrunners got confused and put her in the host's seat instead.
Hahaaa! "I feel like I'm infront of myself..."
Alan Davies ladies and gentlemen.
David Mitchell is so precious.
Someone needs to compile a whole list of QI panelists jokingly answering a question only to find out they were right. Their reactions are extremely priceless. The only other instance I can recall was in an episode with Graham Norton in it, and when Stephen asked this unbelievably long-sentenced math question that no one seemed to even comprehend and Graham retorted "six!" as the answer, only to be told by a serious Stephen "that's what people used to think" .. Graham's reaction was just priceless.
Aahh.. Ace lineup, cant wait for it to get aired.
One of the best programmes on television (if not thee best) all categories. The only negative thing about it is that my studies suffers something fierce because of all the QI marathons one has every now and then. :)
One of my favorite Sandi moments.
Love how rob brydon always rip david on would i lie to you but in Qi there on equal ground
He should ask rob to stand up
Wow, that hands behind the ears number REALLY makes the hearing better! Hadn't tried that since I was a kid!
David Mitchell reminds me of my gymnastics coach in here! Funny as hell!
Did anyone else try the Robs hand thing? It's strange XD
i want a david mitchell for my birthday
@Un5een What scares me is that I have the feeling you're right. By the time I watched about 10 episodes, I had learned more than I did in 2 or 3 years at school.
Why Mr Mitchell, you're shirt is shiny today.
Putting hands behind the ears, and even just extending the ears so they stick out more, makes such a huge difference, I often wonder if it is viable to have plastic surgery to make my ear(s) stick out more permanently...like some people's do naturally.
I actually learned that putting your hands behind your ears thing in school :)
Well done
david mitchell
@Jimbodini85 Peple who don't have access to Stephen Fry?
@Un5een .... OMG, I totally agree!
If you hold down the number 9, David is a scared meerkat
The hand trick doesn't work with headphones :(
@Jimbodini85 stephen fry did.
@Jimbodini85 Woops! I meant to hit the "Vote Up!" button! I totally agree! So sorry!
hmmm..... i think i have actually learned more from watching QI since i started watching it than i have from school in the same amount of time
I wish people would stop saying that.... it's not like fun facts can replace an education..... although it would be awesome if we were taught by comedians.... It's more like having a proper education makes you enjoy this show to its fullest
I had a grandfather, father and aunt who were teachers. Humor and education are not exclusive. They are complimentary
Im learning more here than I am in school. How sad is that?
thumbs up if you actually tried that during the video
Yes. Whut? XD
lol this program is what school education should be based on..
he doesnt mention a proper education, only a school one, would that they were the same thing!
800th like.
Japanese war tubas could tell distance and direction of enemy air crafts?
Yeah i bet the americans whish they'd had one of those!
Boosh!
I mean, the Americans had radar, which was superior in every way, so...
@@marcusclaudius266 Except when the people who use it have to walk down to the corner gas station to report seeing anything. Or when it's turned off.
@mantas1111000
Or people who are not comfortable with Fry molesting them ?
Rob Brydon is such a prat
