Radcliffe looks soooo nervous
Supposedly, he has always been a very humble celebrity
n Linggod they have a lot of people watching them
He has an anxiety condition I think, he's talked about it before.
n Linggod being on qi is pretty intense. Dan must be one of if not the youngest person ever.
Joe h he is the youngest person ever?
I love love LOVE that Daniel is the one that knows about magic! 😂😂😂
Never mind all that... I wonder how you'd palm a fake ox head!
He was paying more attention in professor Binn's classes than we thought
"There are some who call me... Tim."
10 points to Gryffindor
Would've been more impressive with an ox
Jon hell yeah!!
That would be quite the palming.
It's all very well us spotting that he simply tucks the bird's head under his hand and mucks around with a palmed toy head for a few seconds. But what about the damned ancient Egyptian OX, eh? How did they manage that one, I wonder.
I'm dying to know this! It sounds like the makings of a great story about the magician struggling to get it right, trying to train the ox, messing up the fake head?
I love how concerned Dan looks when 'Scott' pulls off the head :')
awww bless Daniel lol! He got so scared when telling the goose bit in front of Stephen. He is quite intimidating with his intellect though :S :) love him still.
I went to school with Scott and is one of my oldest friends. He is a genius
It's funny that the oldest trick in the book was answered by the youngest contestant
He's meant to be very clever, so I'm not that surprised.
knowledge and clevernessa re not the same. Is he also supposedly very knowledgable?
sejemandhaha you can't really be clever if you don't have the knowledge to do so.
you don't need a lot of knowledge to be clever. Cleverness is about utilizing what you've got. Knowledge is about accumulating information.
As they said, to prepare the actors for a world in which magic was real that gave them a background in magic. Rather like the actors in "300" or LOTR getting training in ancient combat moves.
Dan's expression at 2.36! He is so amazed!
@cupotrevor LOL I totally agree. He had that whole response on the tip of his tounge but he let Stephen ask him questions to get it out instead of say the whole thing out, which he totally could have.
Ok, but now do it with Alan
oh of course he knows about magic. he spent years studying it
Lol at dan's face wen the dude finishes with the trick...he's so amazed nd into it.
I find it odd that the magic trick was performed so poorly. Or maybe because this is the first time I am seeing it up close. Coz you can see the points where the magician hides the pigeon head under its wing, and at the end, his right finger is too obviously holding the fake head.
In general with magic tricks (you do know they are tricks, right?) you have to make a transition from "What a wonderful trick, how does he do it" to "Now I see how he does it, but he does it well".
DonMeaker But he didn't do it well
The camera is harsh- you can play it multiple times. It is rather like the dog who walked on his hind legs, the marvel is not that he does it badly, but that he does it at all.
It looks like it's less to do with the camera and more to do with the audience being too close. Usually I'd expect he'd be on a stage.
DonMeaker I don't know if it was fidelity to the original trick that lacked a proper misdirection or what, but it was quite obvious to see what was happening on the first view.
The old ‘two geese in my bag trick.’ Haunts me to this day
Radcliffe was really good on this - they should have him back.
2:46 Dan's face is priceless.
The Great And Powerful Scott Penrose!
Huh, I'd have guessed the cups and balls was the oldest trick...perhaps it's the "in the book" part that got me.
definitely gonna be watching this =)
"I can do the first half of that trick."
We'd really rather you didn't.
My god i love Daniel.
Wow Daniel, he impressed me!
omg! tht has to be about my favourite lineup!!
Excellent use of eyebrows from Scott.
The fez is apparantly back in style....this is a mix of 3 of my favourite things-Fry,Radcliffe and Fezes!
Daniel is was really in this sweet he was so nervous
Looks ace!
I want to see Penn and Teller do this trick. The panelists would spend the rest of the show wiping splattered blood off themselves.
Would have like to see the one with the ox though.
I love Lee's reaction when Scott appears! :D
Lee Mack gives away that he didn't just appear XD
Look at Lee's right hand before & after the appearance at 2:24 :)
Dear god Daniel is fidgety and anxious.
you'd be fidgety and anxious too if you were an adolescent boy seated between graham norton and stephen fry.....
I'd be giddy and hyper, actually.
is 21 adolescent
dan's looks so cute when he tries not to look like he knows the answer but if he answers it he will look like the geek he is....but such a totally cute geek...
Leave it to Harry Fucking Potter to know something about ancient magic.
IncrediblySN but Harry never payed attention in H istory of Magic. He got a D in it on his OWLs
@ranakatan LOVE that clip
Dan is too adorable!
i was going to post a comment on the trick, but @mechanismtrance did a good job saying exactly what i was thinking
Oh fuck that's Harry Potter, I didn't even recgonize
I love how Fry combines Orientalist looking robes with a fez hat to try to create an aura of mysticism; it's just so delightfully tasteless.
"I can do the first part of this trick" Hahaha
0:49 *Please don't be wrong, please don't be wrong, please don't be wrong*
Daniel should be a regular on QI seriously
THAT was hilarious
I can't help but notice that magician has quite wide sleeves.
magically mcgonagall liked this 1279 times :-)
OH GOD THAT SCREEM
I immediately fancy Daniel Radcliffe so much more now.
@KingLofiOne bow ties are cool..
: )
I'm really surprised how clever Daniel Radcliffe is ngl.
Anybody else perk up hearing dan say acio?
@paperchainhearts it was used as a bookmark.
Lol Daniel just got beheaded! XD
England: The only place on the planet where magicians are still cool.
Peter Egan you've obviously never been to Las Vegas.
Pen and teller fool us a whole show based on magic in America
Alan @ 0:51, cringing at the knowledge bomb!
@JaytheOstrich Damn, you beat me to it...
@5tonyvvvv Can oxen do that aswell by any chance?
Love a bit of DanRad all the time, anytime :) He's so awesome in every possible way..Just sayin...
OH MY GOD what happend he wasnt there and now he is!!!! i lold at that sooo much
How do you do that to an ox?
ok, who knows these things? that was crazy that he knew that.
Brooklyn buglet....I remember Alan Rickman giving an interview and stating that the first 4;hours of the day, all the kids HAD TO BY LAW attend school on the lot of Harry Potter in their own grade level. The higher grades did have magic classes by one of the professors. Alan would ask the kids to tell him about all the tricks. So I am sure this “oldest magic trick” was probably on a final exam and something a kid would remember. Reason he was there, I am sure. JMO
Me and Lee have a connection... We can both do the first half of that trick, it's in our blood :D
I've been trying this trick on babies for years. Haven't yet managed to reattach Thier heads though
It's all in the Wrist, just keep practicing
@MmmmDohnuts well by now it'll be on some "learn magic tricks" DVDs, and before that some VHS tapes too.
I would've guessed "got your nose!"
@ranakatan Hell Stephen-this has better be good!
Oh the old... Two geese in my bag trick...
What do they say of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is?
@majordbag2 It's a reference to the comedy/magic genius Tommy Cooper, who used to dress like that sometimes.
I was shocked to see Daniel Radcliff but even more so to see Graham norton!!! Whatt
from 2.12 lee's hand is resting by his neck, but the magician comes on his hand is down
they cut out the part where the magician walked on the stage
Bailey Kersch Exactly!
@MmmmDohnuts in ancient times "scrolls" where referred to as books.
20 points to Gryffindor!!
does anyone know when this is on?
I was hoping they'd do it with an oxen
OH MY GOOOD
WHAT HAPPENED
All those years at hogwarts weren't wasted.
Never mind this magic trick. I want to see that book!
This trick should be ended with a "Who's your Dedi?". I mean you have to somehow honor the dude with the oldest trick in the book..
oohhhh harry
Fake head on a bit of elastic attached to the thumb holding the bird...
James Rob Tony Adams Excuse me but I believe they said it was magic.
Plz have qi on BBC America
@leeroyrobinson15 HIS NERVOUSNESS MAKES SENSE NOW, OH MY GOD YOU ARE A GENIUS.
His exit wasn't quite as good as the entrance :P
@whityjack He said, "I can do the first half of that trick ..."
There are some who call me... Scott
@2000jago your loss then.
He;s one of the busiest magicians in the country.
His name currently appears on almost every show on TV where a magic trick is performed and is valued and respected by scores and scores of magicians. I am one-I should know
so how does it work with an ox?
accio scott!
what did he say at the end?
@magicelliotth "His gonna say, his gonna say"...
oohhhh harry and your smart
oooooooooooooooooooooo wow
@hungryfreshfob11 no, they actually tore off a bird's head then reattached it. also, ghosts are real and psychics and mediums can actually talk to the dead.
Was part of that magic trick that the magician was also Simon Pegg?
@leeroyrobinson15 Actually I admire them for resting it.
