Hisuian Goodra @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sap Sipper
252 Attack
T1-3 Iron Head
after stat reset, T4-9 Curse
T10- end Gyro Ball
Venasaur cant actually damage you, plenty of time left. easy win
What if it pops the balloon
My goodra has a higher special attack stat so i can rain dance and use a boosted water move for super effective dmg
@@EnmaSatoru but what if it pops the balloon
It doesn't seem like it can pop the balloon
@@MitamaYakumo1121 it kept popping ballon turn 0 :/ im using chesnaught
One of these days you gotta hit us with the “What’s going on boys an girls whats up world” for the surprise nostalgia bomb
I agree.
Yeah xD
That’s offensive now you can’t just restrict people to simply boy and girl (I’m joking)
You wanna talk about Nostalgia Bomb, reading "What's up world" just reminds me of Destorm
1:04 lol right on the nerve for some people 😂
1:04 😂 "Which Pal" loved that!
I was JUST throwing a Safari Ball when you said you wanted him in one too! Good taste, my guy!
Same lol, after 5 attempts my group finally locked in
I joined my successfull attempt with Rayquaza. Gave it Dragon Cheer, Avalanch, Waterfall and Facade (never used Facade, though), and Stellar Tera Type (though barely made use of it). Can always go for Avalanch as long as its not in kill range, swap to Waterfall if it might die next hit. Dragon Flying gives it Ground immunity and x4 grass resistance, so Sludge Bomb is the only move it gets attacked with. But the most important part about it: Its Air Lock ability blocks Venusaur from abusing the sunlight from the very beginning, so neither can it use its Chlorophyll ability nor gets it the +2 Atk / SpecAtk boost from the Growth at the start, only +1 each.
Pretty nice support pick for those who dont made a special build for this raid and struggle to find something useful.
Anyone else’s battles just freeze for about 2 turns while the timer is still going then next thing you know there is like 30% time left?
Whoo, let's go get him!
Hope you feel better soon!
Those drops really do make a noticeable difference. Thanks for the quick video and get well.
Worked wonderfully! Was a little worried for a bit cause for a long time he didn't wanna use Sludge Bomb I was constantly being taken down to like 10-20 HP, but fortunately he finally used it and let me get some breathing room. Also, had a Bellibolt and a Tauros in my team, so Light Screen, Intimidate, and Scary Face were nice.
For those with access to Hisuian Goodra, that strategy works a lot better for farming this raid over and over for Herba Mystica.
I second this
I realize it’s not a Pokémon everyone has access to but holy smokes it makes it so easy it’s not even fair.
What's the build for Hisuian Goodra?
@@kirindas4691Could possibly involve Sap Sipper.
Build?
THANK YOU! It’s super easy to do with Chesnaught, the “hardest” part was to get a Chespin (via Home), hypertrain it, give and ability patch and the proper moves… it was worth it! I got Spicy, Bitter and Sour herbas, plus two ability patches and 5 zincs on my first try, again, THANK YOU!
Just a helpful hint Chespin and all the other starters are available in the terrarium.
@@neliros I know, but I don’t have the DLC yet, and just started playing 2 months ago, so I missed a lot of events, TY anyway
Thank you for the guide Austin! Much appreciated, excited to see you on the Nontendo podcast tomorrow!
2:22 - That music!! 🎵
I like how you said to choose a "pal"..😅
Perfect timing lol. I was considering a stellar corvknight with rain dance, tera blast, and screech, then some other move
Why do you want to run Stellar Tera Blast on Corviknight? Corviknight doesn't have anything to prevent stat drop from Tera Blast.
@@Tom_TP for a super effective tera that keeps the immunity to ground and poison.
@@E_Lane817 That doesn't matter if all your pokemon can do is sitting there and doing 0 damage
@@Tom_TP hence, perfect timing
And doesn't one of Cpvoknights abilities negate drops or is it only afflicted drops
Corviknight is a great support build for this raid. Can’t do much damage, but you can work to keep the team going. Went in with rain dance (to counteract the sunny day), light screen, and tailwind. Then iron head for after I set up all the buffs.
UPDATE: I changed Tera type to ice and swapped iron head for Tera blast, and you can actually deal some damage. You give up the immunity to ground attacks when you terastalize, but if you’ve got another healer, or the team pays attention to buffs, it can work. Bright powder is a good equip.
Thanks, got it first try using this moveset
i saw a slightly different chesaught strat, but i like this one better. thanks for the war room vids!
Thanks! Worked like a charm first try soloing
Just solo’ed Venusaur using this build - thank you so much! Didn’t have access to belly drum but used 2x sword dance instead. Horrific trying to do this online - lot easier solo!
Thank you Austin!
I’ve missed a couple of starter tera raids post-Blueberry, particularly the ones without Austin John coverage, so very grateful for the return of these as SV content slows. Got my Venusaur but it kept dropping my ability way too soon followed by Earth Powers so I ultimately adapted by skipping the Spiky Shield and eventually got it.
Thanks for the vid! 👍🏽
I followed the strategy to the letter and it worked like a charm. Got it on my first try. It also helped that the bellibolt ally used the random Light screen.
The only thing I had to worry about was the random bad rng. During the initial set-up, I received a critical hit on 2 occasions from Venusaur's Giga Drain (tanked it though so not too much of a problem). Happy farming.
Same move build but a adamant nature with 252 in att and spd with the rest in hp works a lot quicker
I do wish you covered some other possible solutions, as if you don’t has Chestnaut the video does kind of come off like you are sol.
1:04 Which "pal" of yours....I see what you did there 😏
austin helping nintendo's legal case with that one
Thanks Austin!
After a lot of trial and error using this guide I decided to switch belly drum for swords dance and spiky shield for mud slap. Got it on the second try using that method, Here's the play by play of what I did
Turn 1 swords dance
Turn 2-3 drain punch
Turn 4 mud slap and hope he doesn't use sludge bomb during the turn
Turn 5-6 swords dance
Turn 7 terastalize and use seed bomb
Turn 8 I cheered for health because I was running low and didn't think the healing from the shell bell would be enough but I think if you're lucky with the miss from mud slap you can just use seed bomb till he's dead.
ye tbh using this guide was a mistake
thank you!!❤❤
Love it! Ty Austin!
1:06 Ah Chesnaught, favourite pal
I’m gonna try corviknight myself. Immune to 2 attacks and quad resistance to grass. Access to defog prevents damage ups with growth.
Damage output is the main issue so might have to run with groups, but I’ll be freakishly hard to kill
defog doesn't actually do that, I think you might mean haze, which corviknight cannot learn
Thank you!
Got it! Thank you sir
Thank you very much for this 😊
thanks for the guide.
Thanks for the build
You can also teach your Chesnaught mud slap to lower Venusaur’s accuracy!
I’ve been joining raids tonight with a Special Defense bulk Umbreon as a support Pokemon. 3/6 success rate tonight. Hoping to see people in the raids! Going to be doing it for a bit longer tonight. Look for “Clay”
Is that a good replacement to belly drum? Because I'm using the mightiest mark one and can't teach it that.
(also due to bad raid experiences with the move I don't trust belly drum)
@@diamonddragon8733 The move set I used was rain dance, swords dance, mud slap and seed bomb.
1. Set rain to remove sun
2. Use mud slap three times to lower accuracy
3. Use swords dance/cheer twice
4. Terastallize and use seed bomb
@@quantasium but Chesnaught can't learn rain dance can it?
@@NektheDarkener It most certainly can. I used it last night.
Used Chestnaught also but had 252 Attack/Sp D./4 HP adamant. First 3 turns seed bomb, spiky shield turn 4, Swords dance 2 times, then Tera seed bomb the rest of the time
how many times did it take you? having trouble. resets stats after 2 seed bombs..
i used Chestnaught holding Shell Bell with 252 Atk, 150 Sp D. and 108 HP EVs and moveset of Seed Bomb, Spiky Shield, Drain Punch and Belly Drum
@@danielamerman218 1 try. Have it hold a shell bell as it’ll recover as it’s hitting Venasaur. Sorry forgot to add it
Do you not die to sludge bomb?
@@danialzulkifli6454 bulletproof ability negates that
Very helpful! Thanks!
Dude your amazing I followed the strat and got it first try thank you so much
Nice strategy! Thanks for uploading!
I avoided watching any videos before trying the raid myself, and I came up with Chesnaught as well. I went Careful, Max HP/SDef and 6 in Attack. Went Synthesis instead of Spiky Shield, but after swapping to Shell Bell, I can see the value of just dropping Synthesis.
Strategy works wonderfully, thank you
So I followed exactly what you did in the video…. Got it first try thanks!!
Thanks Austin! Worked like a charm 👏🏽
did it first try, thanks Austin
What a turnaround for the updated video! AJP is goated!
Thanks so much for the video! Was able to complete 8 raids today on my own, and had great fun building the Pokémon 🥳
Thank you ❤
just some noob question for hisuian goodra build why need low speed?
Instantly threw me off with a clearing stats turn 2, lmao. But I also realised my tere type was still rock.
I just so happened to get Arboliva my first time around. Grassy Terrain helps.
Really gotta thank you for the consistent videos on these raids - second go and took down no problem 🎉really enjoy the videos ✌️😎 always gets the job done 💪
thank you!
It was a breeze in solo thanks man!!
Man, Austin has never failed me yet.
Thanks buddy. 😎
Its still so rng cause earth power is basically always lowering my special defense
Run Hisui Goodra with Air Balloon if you can get one, as long as you use protect on the turn Venusaur nullifies abilities, you’re invincible
Hisuian Goodra
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 Atk, All other points can go anywhere but Speed.
IVs: Lowest Speed IV you have access to. Atk should be Best/Hyper Trained.
Nature: Brave (+Atk, -Speed)
Item: Air Balloon
Moves: Iron Head, Gyro Ball (need 3x PP Up or Max PP), Curse, Protect
Use Iron Head until Venusaur removes your buffs and abilities.
Then Protect to save your Air balloon.
Curse 6 times.
Terastalize and spam Gyro Ball.
NPCs with Haxorus, Garganacl and Corviknight should be avoided due to them lowering Venusaur's Speed. NPCs with Pokémon that can paralyze like Bellibolt and Dudunsparce are OK, but will lower your damage output.
@@benjamingardner5277 im using chesnaught with mud slap strat
Takes almost the entire time but works for sure ❤
Austin, @DanSquared came up with a great build and I was able to solo it. 💜
Thank you beat it in one try !
"Which palof yours" 😂
I did a build with Kyruem Black just to see, but if it fails I’m using this strategy for sure, consistency is much appreciated.
I used an Articuno with Snowstorm. While everyone else used this strategy were constantly knocked out.
Wish you showed all the turns in one shot for easy screenshot like in the past, great guide regardless
Thanks Austin. Got it easy peasy
Thanks!
Me getting the one that loves to use Earth Power and clearing my stats before I can get the 2nd drain punch in lol
He also was using growth with Sunny Day. Took me a bit to finally take him down but was worth it. 3 Herba Mystica in the pocket now (from one battle)
So before the blastoise raid could chestnuaght still work if instead of seed bomb you give it drain punch and change its Tera type to steel or fighting? Depending on its moves?
I used a bug type arceus w/ rain dance snarl recover and light screen as support. But seems like I'm always behind on what to actually use.
hows your night going austin
Chesnaught finally getting a chance to shine is Ironic considering the recent announcement
1:03 he said pal…
Can also vouch for Hisuian Goodra being amazing for this for folks that have access to it. Venusaur can't land a single hit when done right.
Sap Sipper
Air Balloon
I did Brave nature to keep speed down and attack up, invested in Attack.
Iron Head (use this until you can Tera)
Protect (use when Venusaur nulls you)
Curse (use x 6)
Gyro Ball (spam to win, might need to PP up a couple times for the solo)
Good luck folks! This is an amazing raid to grind Herba. Got 12 so far and an ability patch.
why do you need low speed? sorry noob here
@@ManoGeeky Gyro Ball. Hits harder based on you being slower.
yeah! Easy with Chesnaught. after the setup turns, its really a walk in the park. haha
I haven’t seen anyone make a video on this but once you unlock the flying upgrade for your ride pokemon fly to the highest point in the terrarium on top of the disco ball lol and there’s items up there you can get (gold bottle cap,50 stellar Tera shards and and ability patch) can’t remember if there was one more item
It Works! Thanks.
It's definitely not a Solo Strat, but Prankster Murkrow of all things is what got my win. It can learn both Haze and Rain Dance, cancelling out Venusaur's setup ASAP. Give it Bright Powder and Mud-Slap and it won't lay a petal on your team. Granted someone else online had the Chesnaught, but still, it's a good Support option.
I used Bug type Mew for this 😊
Ty Austin
I used calyrex ice rider and even tho it was a bit rough, calyrex handled it pretty well
These Mightiest Mark Kanto starters are going to be super cool to have as megas in Legends Z-A as well!
Pretty neat that they added Herba Mystica to the list.
Oh nice this is perfect as I have a Careful Chesnaught with bulletproof, as I am all set for tomorrow!
its work lol your guild great john
Love the vids keep it up
Thanks mister
My first attempt I forgot to change my tera type from rock to grass. Got completely obliterated. 😅😆
Thanks man. That was an easy victory.
Hey Austin John I think there is a glitch with breeding HVoltorb. Has there been anything about it?
Calryx is a decent contender, careful nature
Max HP, max SDEF, atk
Trick room, leech seed, seed bomb, glascial lance with tera ice
Only reason I survived and didn’t faint once was probably due to Blissey team mate with light screen
My Venusaur used sunny day, but it also used growth and petal.blizzard and the AI got all weird on mine
Plant lizard
Weed frog
literally watched this video twice just for the outro, that song is 🔥🔥
Maybe switch a move with mud slap to lower accuracy
Only problem is there really wasn't much wiggle room to swap anything else, unless you wanna roll the gamble with Spikey Shield and hope he doesn't Sludge Bomb you.
@@darkmask5933 i thought that's why we're using chesnaught with bulletproof. Isn't that thing immune to bomb and ball moves?
Yes but after he removes your buffs, Bulletproof is disabled for one turn
@@synclimatic7800yes but when he’s constantly spamming earth moves and giga drains that’s useless
Thank You So Much, Austin John Plays!
Grass starter vs grass starter, I love it
A support mon option
Hydreigon @ Ability Shield
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 SpD / 4 Spe
- Taunt
- Snarl
- Dragon Cheer
The fourth option could be anything, I had Hydro pump but never used it. You may also want to have its nature be a speed nature. Tera Type is poison cause, when I Terastalized my Hydregion, all Venausaur did was spam sludge bomb.
