Paper Mario has finally returned to its RPG roots with an amazingly loyal and visually dazzling remake of The Thousand-Year Door. Everything fans have been begging Nintendo to bring back is here, including a delightfully varied turn-based battle system with satisfying real-time elements and unique, lovable party members who are essential to both the story and gameplay. Rogueport and its surrounding areas are bursting with personality thanks to writing that’s just as sharp and funny today as it was in 2004. It also introduces a host of modern improvements that streamline - but don’t eliminate - the original’s backtracking issues, easily making this the best way to experience Mario’s quest to gather the Crystal Stars. There’s a reason The Thousand-Year Door has been considered one of the greatest Nintendo games for the last 20 years, and this brilliant remake ensures it will maintain that reputation for at least a thousand more.

Honestly I'm more interested in seeing the reception of the game than the game itself.
You mean the message of "keep re-releasing your back catalog, we will buy it no matter what"
Or maybe bring us the sequel to Mario RPG cause it's a far superior game over anything the paper mario series has done

Rogue Ports trouble center is one of those things that should be completed even if it doesn't seem important. NOBODY SHOULD SLEEP ON THE SIDE-QUESTS IN THIS GAME!

@BriarFleet considering we got this and even Mario RPG, it is clear they heard the call and are giving us what we want, hell, they could've just ported the game rather than completely rebuild it. This is basically a testing ground to gauge people's interest that this is the kind of game they want out of the Paper Mario series.
You made one big mistake. THere were warp pipes in the origional game down in the Rogeport sewers. They were just seperated into a couple different rooms blocked off by large blocks that would need various hammer upgrades to destroy them.

I'm halfway thru Gamecube version. It still looks fantastic. Unsure if it beats Mario RPG (personal preference) but def looks better & comes very close.

So, does it have any additional stuff in it like RPG or is just the same game with amazing graphics and tweaks to make it flow better?
Well as of now, there is some new content we know of:
- The Battle Master is a new toad that lets you do practice battles to perfect the timing of action commands
- The shortcut pipes have been completely revamped into a new shortcut room similar to Origami King, with a numbered pipe for every chapter
- A "nostalgic tunes" badge was added to listen to the original soundtrack

@@ericwindsor339 Regardless of how minor, that is be definition new content--it's material that wasn't in the original release.
Also, according to a couple overseas gaming publications, a few "post-game bosses" were added, although no information has been revealed on what these bosses may be or where you'd fight them
one of my all time favorite . So happy to see this timeless gem remastered !
Would had been nice if they added Luigi’s Quest as a completion bonus. Something like a short second game like the Ada Wong side missions in RE4
The wrestling segment and the train mystery one, were my favorite moments in the game!
For someone who didn’t have a Nintendo Wii or Wii U I am SO excited for the huge catalog of great games to hopefully make its way over to switch.
IGN when a game doesn't just make them move in a straight line: 'outdated level design'.
I’m still yet to finish my GameCube version, so not sure whether to get the GameCube out of storage or just buy this shiny new version!

30 FPS is such a huge downgrade and a slap in the face of honest buyers and fans. Emulators already run it in 60 FPS.
Playing it right now..... it literally effects nothing
Can't deliver 60 fps without sacrifying graphic fidelity and/or causing inconsistency like frame drops
@@Cilverkid456 It affects everything. 30 FPS should no even be a thing anymore in 2024. While 30 FPS might be acceptable for some, the downgrade from 60 FPS is definitely felt by many players. It's not just about visuals; it's about how the game feels and responds to your inputs. Thats why the whole Game feels worse now.

Surprised they went with remaking this one instead of the 1st one...I like both games but there's something about the world in part 1 and the charm that make it better IMO.
Regardless, I'm glad they're doing this one, as Paper Mario N64 was already available on NSO.
