    Hi Jessica! I'm new to the embroidery crew, but I'm quickly falling in love with this new hobby! My question is: how do you make your embroidery patterns? (Like the ones that we can print out on your website) Do you draw your design on a piece of paper? I'm very curious. Thanks so much, in advance!

      I draw them, scan them into my computer, and then trace with Inkscape. Check the first story in my highlights on Instagram: instagram.com/cutesy_crafts/

    Do you think this would be good for a large design, like Leia Organa's Bespin/Cloud City cape?

    • @CutesyCrafts

      It should work for anything that you can wash. I used it on a denim jacket for my daughter, and it was perfect.

    is there a specific pen you have to use to draw on the material or can you use a pencil or something? also is there a difference between what you used in the video and fabric stabilizer?

      I've used pencil. You can use anything. Also a heads up there's no difference between this Sticky Fabri Solvy & the printable one except the printable one is pre cut into A4 sheets. This one jf you cut it to A4 size is perfectly printable as well which is v useful. And something I wish I discovered before transferring a complicated pattern. Would have saved me quite a bit of time!

    Hi there! have you tried with velvet? how do you get rid of sulky paper in this case?

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  2 года назад

      I haven't embroidered on velvet. If it can't be washed, you can't use this method though. You might want to look at tear away stabilizers instead. You stitch through them and then it rips off.

    • @oliviadaly4795
      @oliviadaly4795 2 года назад +1

      Yes definitely. I used it in a laserjet printer just yesterday. As long as it's cut to A4 size and put in the feeder/paper tray fabricy side up, no problem. You can buy a 'printable' version but the difference is the printable one is pre cut A4 sheets that's it.

    HELP: I'm using Print-Stitch-Dissolve by Pellon to make a quilting template. It prints just great but the dissolve part needs some help. The problem is that while the large pieces of the product dissolve perfectly, the stuff between and under the stitching does not. I am left with a white line of product .
    I have tried soaking it twice with hot, then cold water. I've run it through the washer AND dryer. I've tried abrading it with a soft toothbrush. All to no avail. Can any one help me out?

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  3 года назад

      Hmmm... I would think the toothbrush would help. With the fabri solvy, I just move my finger around on it and it dissolves. I hope you were able to figure it out!

    Hi there. I’m just learning to embroider, and have been using this to help me. The only problem I have is when I go to dissolve it, the colors from the thread bleed and then I get a big mess. How do I prevent that? I do wash and dry fabric before using.

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  3 года назад

      Oh, I'm sorry that happened to you! I've never had that experience before. I know some brands and colors of thread are more color-fast than others. I've heard of people using color catchers while soaking, but again, I've never had to do that. What brand of floss are you using?

    • @kelliewhiteside5615

    • @oliviadaly4795
      @oliviadaly4795 2 года назад

      @@kelliewhiteside5615 hm. DMC is usually run proof - I've never had issues with DMC floss bleeding and I pretty much use it exclusively on projects (apart from samplers where I'm trying to use up my collection of crappy Chinese made no brand embroidery floss that will probably bleed and is also of much lower quality.
      Depends on where you bought it. If you bought it on Amazon or something it could v easily be a counterfeit product ie not DMC. When I've bought DMC on Amazon I guess I've been lucky but I've very rarely bought it there, I prefer to buy from my local haberdahsery's online shop or the haberdashery of a dept store when I'm there buying fabric and other things in store.

    This works well on fabric, but on felt it tends to distort it.

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  4 года назад

      Yes, I've tried it once on felt, and it did distort a little with the water. You have to be very careful not to stretch the felt while rinsing, and lay it flat to dry. I was able to cut more of mine off as it stretched a little.
